Quite impressed with the dudes climbing ability. He's the only guy who beats me up a hill and i reckon he's about 15 years older than me. I ride a mk1 intense tracer.

Maybe. how tall are you? I cycle with a guy who rides a 29" Scandal. S**t off a shovel. Maybe another option.

F1 doesn’t live in it’s own little bubble. Massive changes are happening to motor manufacturing due to the economy, French, U.S and German government are pumping huge amounts of cash into the industry to support jobs/local economies and F1 has to move adjust in sympathy to this. The irony of the Renault or Mercedes teams getting victories as their factories shut down is just too much.

40 million is still quite a large amount to spend on a marketing budget when massive cuts are being made elsewhere in the company.

Dude, all you need is a new olive. Have a hunt round on the Hope website, they have a part number and I think either CRC or UKbikestore sell them.

I recently refitted my old style hope minis with goodridge hoses and have a lot of surplus hose from the front left over. Ebay beckons….

am p*ssed and misread what you were saying! yes, all you need is a new olive. hiccup. skews me.

Stay well clear of peanuts and whack off a lot. Failing that, just ride more and don’t get too ratted the night before a ride, ie- make sure you are properly hydrated.

Shocks and rebound/compression damping can be confusing and part of me things you’ve read too much on bike forums/dirt mags. Take it into the local bike shop and see if they think it’s ok. Buy some decent tyres whilst your in there.

Go for the 106 miles. Join a local club and try and keep up with the fast guys/girls, you’ll feel sick as a dog at the time but come July you’ll be flying. Try and get some 40-50 milers in (on your own) if you can. Choose the right tyres and saddle as well. I’m Brighton based so I know the terrain.

get one of these for comfy :-

Tooslow, if you already riding a 456 and doing South Wales(plus hanging out with some people that are doing the sh*t on FS bikes) then you’re ready to make the leap to a bouncer. Either the Titus or the Chumba are top bikes.

    best currently available all-rounders are:-

Intense Tracer VP and the Santa Cruz Heckler. As money is no object then you’ll achieve sub 27lbs builds for both. Post some pictures 😉

Wonder if anyone commenting about Thatcher sending the “green light” through her actions is aware of the 1976 occupation and of South Thule with an Argentinian research base, nicely covered up by Gentleman Jims government, and seen by the Junta as proof of the likelihood that the British government would accede to the later 1982 invasions?

I’m a total Thatcherite/Reaganite/Blairite hater but this interests me. Will have do some further reading…

Majorupset, go for it, you can never have too many bike shops, cyclings on the up & up. Sign up for the Bikebiz forum if you can; you’ll get lots of information on the day to day politics of the industry from there. A lot of the contributors are bike shop staff and owners. Good luck to you 😉

My view – don’t make your hobby your work – you end up losing your hobby

why bother getting out of bed in the morning? remind me not to ride with you any time soon.

What a load of tosh. stiffer compound plastic with less ability to flex will therefore let less stuff in. Q E bleedin D. Will it increase stiction? that’s another matter. Get those seals. I’m doing the same next week.

    Paul,

I have a spare old 2 bolt Race Face stem but I’m not sure if it’s an evolve or not, give me a better description. Mine’s from 2001 and has it’s shaft painted grey with the clamps at either end painted black.

OK – here’s one we discussed on tonights ride. When was the last time you wished your head angle was STEEPER during a ride? When did you wish your steeering was faster/more nervous/more twitchy?

Last time I rode some proper single track.

I thought 853 tubing was developed for TIG welding not brazing. Why not use a different tubeset designed for brazing instead? Seems like overkill. Guess people like the sticker.

Check list (correct me if I’m wrong):-

16 inch seat tube coupled with a 23 inch top tube

fillet brazed? (why? pointless!) 853 frame with a stainless steel drive side chainstay.

proper reversed seat clamp (sorry Brant) to stop dirt buiding up and scratching your 120 quid carbon seat pin.

they are still undecided about the BB.

comes in a nice Vulcan Bomber undercarriage blue colour

    Niceness

Columnists are employed to be controversial and he probably doesn’t mean a word of it. I have a friend who has a column in a local paper and regularly writes stuff to wind people up. The paper loves it because it causes debate and raises the newspapers profile. It’s really not worth thinking about.

Santa Cruz Heckler. Can’t think of any other bike that qualifies as a ‘modern classic’.

    Mrmo,

I’ve completed the SDW in a day; you can do it in 11-12 hours. Best way is to stay overnight in the Youth Hostel in Winchester and make an early start. Eastbourne has regular train services to London & Brighton for getting home. There is an annual organised, sponsored ride. I’m doing it again this year 🙂
