Ebay, look for one with apple care left on it.
Got my 2010 one for £450 with 500gb hard drive and 8gb.
But it did take a while to such for one that was a good deal.
I like the look of the evoc trail unlimited, anyone got experience with an evoc? Whats the back protector like and they seem to be quite heavy is this noticeable? Can the back protector be removed?
I’m thinking of going 1*10 on my xc bike, currently set up singlespeed for commuting but will be doing some of the gorrick races on it this year.
will be shimano, Is it worth getting a shadow plus mech?
Will i need a chain guide?
Fox talas?
Can get them for around 400 in deals, or some second hand ones will be well within budget and as long as they have been serviced they’ll be fine.
Mine came with a 1500mm rear which was actually way to long.
They are fairly easy to switch the leavers over, for the performance, they are not as good as the current deore brakes by some distance, but they stop you and have good modulation, they seem to rub a bit but that might just be my discs aren’t straight. Much better than the Hayes strokers they replaced .
I personally love my talas and use it all the time.. But it didn’t cost me anymore to get them over some floats as i bought them second hand, for a good price.
Cycle centre do stuff well for quite cheap and do it quickly.
Beeline always seem to agree on a price then double it when you come to collect.
Few friends have used cycloanalyst for forks etc. seem good.
I had avid elixir cr mags which are similar to the xx ones, I had nothing but problems with them, then they just broke completely. Or if you do get avid make sure they are new, so you have the warranty.
I’ve now converted to the new shimano deores ( having spent all my money on the avids) they just feel so much better quality.
Don’t know about formula.
Get something like a Talas (with adjustable travel) although i wouldn’t go over 140mm as thats what i have and i think anymore and it would ruin the bike. The adjustable travel helps a lot for when going uphill, then set it to 140mm for the downhill and its takes in the technical stuff.
I think trek had a few fuels using the talas system but from 90-130mm..
