There were only 4 guys working in the Ubyk Oxford store and they didn’t know what was happening until it happened. So much so that the member of staff that posted on here has had to contact the landlord in order to get his own bike back!

You may think that they should have known, but James is a liar and had been telling everyone that he was sorting everything out. It has been a bumpy road for Ubyk for the last year or so and so delays paying distributors and getting stock in were normal.

As has already been said, James is now in Poland and has changed his mobile and hidden his social media.

I used to work in the store.

They don’t update stock on their website. Hope stuff will be coming from hope, unless it’s available as ‘next day’ on their website it unlikely to actually be in the shop.

Wolftooth remote is the best i’ve used, can be had for about £55 from Ubyk so not a great deal less than the Fox, but it is a much better lever.

Also if the pads are the new black ones, you won’t have any problems with them falling apart (or so i’m told).

I’ve got a Giro montaro and use it with a joystick – never had any problems or noticed any movement..

Swinley is running fine atm, there place where that picture is taken is always flooded over the winter.

You will get muddy but the trails are running well.

No need to wait on delivery from the US now, can get them in UK now from places like ubyk.
Definetly best on the market, great feel.

Looks amazing, just need to find a mate crazy enough to do something similar.

I’d be looking at the Marin Nail Trail, a friend has just got the 6 for £700 and it looks like a good bike for the money.

Alternatively the 7 gets you a much better spec with rockshox yari forks and a dropper, although I think the cheapest they are available for is about £899.

They do come up large on sizing though.

The margin for that price movement hasn’t appeared from anywhere. The margins on Santa Cruz are the same as for any other brand. With that deal, there really isn’t much margin for the retailer at all.

@wwaswas, I’ll take the forks off you if they are the normal non plus ones, happy to pay towards postage.
Spent too much time hesitating and so missed out on them from mojo annoyingly

Might be worth giving them a call, I know they had some issues with their website on the weekend.

Best I’ve found for flying with bike to Canada is Westjet, they allow a bike bag to be up to 45kg!! I just stuck everything in the bag and they didn’t mind.

Anyone know anything about these OEX HELIOS Bags, seem to be light and give about the right temperature ratings. I did have a look at one, it did look very thin but then I don’t know much about down bags.

I think unless i see any really good second hand deals i’m gonna stick with what i’ve bought. I’m struggling to justify spending £150+ on a bag, with the same comfort rating as the one i’ve got to save 200g. The one i bought cost me £55, has an EN comfort rating of 5 degrees and weighs 1kg.

Ok will have another look tomorrow, maybe a down sleeping bag would be a good investment. I did have a look at alpkit but they seem to be sold out of everything at the moment unfortunately.

Thanks for the help, that criterion does look good and i have been recommended those before, although i’ve just ordered something much cheaper that I think should do the job ok – a mountain hardwear lamina 35.

Just noticed 2016 jeffsys are available in their outlet store – only in small and medium though, but in stock.
I’d be very tempted if that was the right size for me
    Carbon Jeffsy, sram x1, Pike RCT3s -£2500!

Interesting read.. I’m an ag student currently doing some lambing thursday-Sunday, to give the farmer a chance to get some sleep. :-)
Manic night last night, they just kept on lambing throughout the night, hoping for a much quieter night tonight

Having been there its a nice enough city but if I wasn’t there for the fact my girlfriend lived there, i wouldn’t bother.
Its too far out in the middle of nowhere to be a place to visit.
I was there in summer, didn’t experience the cold.. sounds grim.

I’ve got the flash charger, but if I was buying again I’d go for the airshot.. flash charger is useless for setting the pressure or topping up tyres so you’ll still need other track pump anyway, also it’s huge so not very portable for taking in the car.

Contact where you got it from, they should be able to order a replacement from the distributor – might even be FOC if you’re lucky.

    M980 cranks are standard 104BCD
    M985 cranks are 88BCD

So yes as long as they are in fact m980s you can.

I’ve just double checked and it’s 25 CAD for 1st checked and 35 CAD for the 2nd..
Westjet may be a little budget, but having flown with both them and emirates last year, they offered a much better service. Plus the fact it only cost me £350 return.
    They are definitely worth considering

@Mikesmith – maybe oversize baggage can… westjets weight limit is actually 45kg

As of 22/06/16, so may want to double check this is still the case

I went with westjet but only checked my bike bag, and took a medium size and small bag on board.
The weight limit for the bike bag was around 40kg, so I also added some clothes, pump, tools etc
The bike bag counted as a normal piece of checked luggage so cost £10, which I thought was pretty good.
You many want to double check this is still the case, I found the best way was to post on the various fb pages

Yeah I’m currently looking at the si 2.2 I ctdi, my budgets around £3500, so will probably end up with a fairly high mileage ~ 100,000.
I think I would want the 5 door, for the ease of packing and the fact you can fit a towbar.
