I take it you have the updated model. I have to take it off the bike and try and remember the secret handshake. Mini USB with crap seal is also annoying

The seesense is dreadful. No physical button is a huge design flaw.

Never bothered with one. Billions of people get along just fine without video feeds, alarms, heat sensors, night vision etc..

I think it depends on the amount of miles you do and where you ride, I ride along the coast so in the winter it is extremely gritty / salty / wet. Also get a hose too close to a xt hub and you need to regrease.

scotrouters how many miles are you putting on your fatbike? I did a year of commuting 5k+ with XT hubs in all weathers and they needed to be regreased every month, that said these were second hand, so god knows how many miles they had in them, it’s also a easy job to do that costs next to nothing.

Had xt & hope, would always go with hope now. The XT were fine and great value, but they do require a lot more maintenance – get any serious water in them and they need a re-grease and fiddle with a cone spanner.

I have found the staff in the Brighton branch to be very helpful, last time the chap at the till found a part they did not stock on chain reaction for me.

thanks! 2.5mm sounds about right. I guess 35mm is the internal diameter of a 40mm ring?

I get a fair amount of abuse, but always respond as cheerily as possible – feel sorry for the sad bastards stuck in their metal boxes. Getting wound up will just stress you out,

    Things that motivate me:

    1) Tailwinds
    2) Beating roadies up hills
    3) The 2 bagels waiting for me at the office
    4) Bewildering the “normals”
    5) Obtaining a high level of fitness without training

I don’t know how people find the motivation to sit in a car/bus/train

Pretty sure 26in wheels will be made for a long time, huge userbase still needs servicing – the fork taper is not unique to 26in.

It was the 2009 one: http://www.wigglestatic.com/images/focus-blkforestv109-zoom.jpg

I bought my first MTB – a mid range Marin with 6 months paper round money and it “looked” very much like what everyone was riding in the magazines.

If you read blogs / magazines you would think you need to spend 1k+ for a “heavy hardtail 2k+ for “entry” level trail bike, 3k for dh. Whereas you can get decent road bikes for under 500

    Nejee20 in 2009 I got a fox float 32 on a non discounted £740 hardtail

In my experience it’s all about finding the right rim and tyre combination. I have 4 tyres that go on my Stan’s crest very easily with a track pump. I would not run tubeless if I had to use a compressor…

thanks! biggest mistake was having nothing to eat. I think I might pack some patches.

^ 60psi is way too high and could blow off / damage the rim ?

More than covers bikes home and away (inc 60 days abroad), there is a £1500 limit per bike, but I think you can call them if your bike exceed it. Policy is new for old.

thanks Clobber, I have a cotic soul, so loads of clearance.

You can get the EXO (which I think i need) in TR or standard: http://nextdaytyres.co.uk/details.aspx/MAXXIS-IKON-MTB-26/161
