The EU should be paying us for being such a good customer, if there are trade tarifs we’ll make a massive profit

which would be true if we did not have a 25bn trade deficit.

or 20% of trident – point is there is money there if they wanted it.

Claiming leaving EU is going to sort out public services is a red herring.

when is someone going to mention 10 billion savings is really not very much? – buys you 1/5 of RBS – would take 85 years to pay off the 2008 bailout (not including interest).

This thread is a good example why gun control does work – yes some “bad guys” will be able to get their hands on a gun regardless (although unlikely to be a semi-automatic rifle ), but your typical loner whacked out on prescription drugs has very little chance of getting a battery of arms & armour in the uk

    I have an older roadrat:

    pros
    – very fun to ride
    – very versatile I have ridden it geared, fixed, singlespeed flat bar, drops, off road, as monster cross bike etc..
    – frame “flex” makes for a comfy ride
    – looks different to bland road bikes

    cons
    – Heavy – over 10.5kg even as singlespeed with lightish components.
    – handling feels odd at times, but might be because I have drops on the long rat.
    – chain tug / mech hanger is a right pain, I really hate it

There are 6 uphill segments on my commute I am top 5 on all of them, but the margins are huge to the KOM – always someone faster

It is very competitive and not that well paid! Much easier to get a decent job as a web dev.

As some one who helps hire graphic designers, all I care about is your portfolio and above all else your attitude / approach. Qualifications really do not matter.

I save £110 on the train every month, but still get grief about such extravagants as a new bottom bracket.

You need to show compassion, she is feeling isolated and unwanted. Sounds like you punished her harshly for leaving the army when she needed support while she worked out what to do next.

Also is is not unusual for parents to have “subsidise” their children well into their 20s, it very tough for young adults right now

You have done the right thing by asking strangers on an internet forum.

My steel commuter lives outside 24/7. 8 years old only problem I have had so far is rust in the fork steerer, which I just painted

thing is video games now are much more addictive, they are also more “social” without leaving your home.

I think whole childhoods are being lost to screen gawping – we do enough of that as adults.

I rode with my four year old to his school on a day off. Two concerned mums contacted my wife about us riding on the (very quiet) road.

More adults accompanying children in soft play areas than children, says everything you need to know about modern British parenting.

My mate asked me to ride his bike as it felt “funny” he had put the cranks back on at completely the wrong positions.

I do 200miles a week on and off road. Before I got exposure lights I was lucky to get 3 months out of a light.

    See sense – drowned
    Knog x 3 – strap split
    Moon comet – drowned
Chinese super cheap – battery would not hold charge
MTB batteries – battery dead after summer
    Fibre flare – drowned

The exposure traceR is under £30 and is the only rear light to survive a winter.

The only reason can possibly be because you feel the need to support UK production. Makes no economic sense at all from what I can see.

I have a draw full of dead lights that say otherwise. Exposure everytime.

I am going to be doing short 1-2 week tours, aiming to pack light. I know I want a easy to repair bike – threaded BB, rim brakes, full cable housing etc.

I have another budget for bags.

a clip for your saddle rails would be good to store tyre levers, or maybe just gaffe to underside of seat.

Would a bar end plug fit a seatpost? if so just need that and a bit of foam maybe to stop it clattering around,

mountain bike with slicks = +2mph
road rat with flat bar = +3mph
road rat with drop bar = +4mph
    weight weenie road bike I don’t need = ??

I have the three bike version. They are excellent, no condensation, very dry. Not sure how secure as I sleep above mine and so would hear it being opened.

Guy on my commute cycles in the bus lane rather than the cycle lane next to it, no idea why, can understand why drivers are miffed

So how far up is the bottom bolt on your post?

    g5604

Boot is off at the moment.

Changing the collar tighteness has no effect, what does this do? Is it a stop against the inner post?

I think my problem is with the spring how do you know how much to tighten the bottom bolt / spring?

Very confused by my local market, houses are being put on way higher than recent sold prices and in guide bands e.g 200k-240k. Houses are selling in days, pretty despondent after 10 years of saving

I do 21 miles each way 5 x a week. Takes 1hr 15. I would like a shorter commute, but train fares / house prices mean it’s the only option.
