+1 for Gravels – used them daily for over a year and they show no signs of wearing out. Do dry quickly as above, grip is perfect – not too much, not too little.

loosing 28lbs of me was a much better way of feeling better on the bike and free.

in fact it was like carrying around a whole other bike…

    +1

I did this and it’s the best upgrade I ever did to my bike

    :-)

All forms of vehicles have to share the same space (roads). I guess if there’s a cycle lane present, there’s an option to use it if wanted, but no legal/moral imperative to do so.
On my daily (cycle) commute, I get held up/slowed down by cars/buses/lorries/pedestrians/bin lorries – c’est la vie. Not something to get upset about, we all need to be on the roads.

    Thanks Ecky-Thump, but I’m after either a tapered or 1 1/8th steerer.

They are great forks – I had a pair on my bike that got nicked :-(

_tom_ – i may follow that up with you, ta ;-)

Ideally I’m after a 2010 vintage 160mm, ti sprung – CRC had a set of shop soiled ones for sale, but I missed out on them :-(

I rode 50 acre early one Sunday morning a couple of weeks ago – it’s running very nicely :-)

True, think it’s best steered clear of until it dries a little

Ban those who call it wendyball *yawn*

IMHO, it’ll be Avram Grant or Benitez until the end of the season, I have a feeling Pep will go for either Citeh or United – he doesn’t want/need to be in a job for 6 months and then take a massive severance package

I’ve been riding some new 36 Float Rs for a couple of weeks – had quite a lot of stiction at first, but a few rides of getting them sh*tted up + running lower than normal pressure + a good squirt of stanchion lube has made them feel a lot better

Both mine went on a WeeRide from 6months to about 2ish – have tried a rear-mounted carrier and it made the handling weird.

WeeRide was awesome, people deffo took notice

not sure I’d use a trailer though, except off-road

Great commuting lights, great to be seen lights.

If you’re going anywhere without streetlights, use an additional/different front light.

Mr A, sorry to hear BCC seem intent of f*cking up the amazing opportunity gifted to them in AC :-(
I did think it waqs taking time to get the bike shop etc up and running…

Oh dear, sounds like newly-installed charlie big-potato at the council is stamping his feet authority…..

Do you think they get the irony? BCC owns Ashton Court, which is the home to one of the most popular/well-used bike trails in the country?*

*this may not actually be fact, but you gotta love a bit of hyperbole ;-)

they were never dry from about October to February, because it took longer for them to dry out than the gap between rides

    +1 :-)

I think the record for mine must have been a week to completely dry out after getting completely drenched – I used to wear them hoping that my feet would help dry them out, but it just felt like I was slowly developing trench foot ;-)

IME I would steer clear of normal 5.10s (at least the Impacts) as they soak up a crazy amount of water. My wet, muddy winter rides became a lot more enjoyable when I switched to Shimano AM40s, now using Vans Gravels.
5.10 Impacts for cold, dry rides only ;-)

I taxed mine at the local DVLA the other day – I was asked for all the paperwork and there were signs up saying they couldn’t access the insurance db.
I’ve been getting white paper MOT certs still from my local garage, think you’ll need one of these + your V5 + insurance cert to tax in person.

They defintely seem to take it seriously here in Bristol, at least the front-line do.

DBW – totally agree, normal consumable.

Last time I went in on spec to ask for a HT2 BB, you would have thought I’d asked for a custom one made from gold and llama eyebrows or something

Evans seem to have a particular problem with stockng/getting hold of HT2 BBs IME, f*ck knows why

I haven’t watched the video yet, but when the scrotes nicked my bike, i very definitely called 999 and the 5-0 very defintely treated it as a “proper” crime

Nobody has mentioned tolls. If I had a van in Bristol the occasional trips over the Clifton Bridge and in to Wales would be a lot more expensive.

I’ve also had the tollbridge pleasure, sitting in a smallish van with just a bike as cargo, and paying double the cost of the Discovery loaded with 7 people doesn’t rankle in the slightest, honest.

This is the main reason I haven’t got a van

If it helps, I’m wearing size UK12 whereas I’m normally a UK11 – so they size up smallish
