I use Hevy on Android, best one I’ve used, and I’ve tried Strong, Jefit, StrongLifts. It’s available on Apple too.

Gyms can be a little intimidating so be kind to yourself and feel your way in – go during the day if you can, early mornings and evenings are all business in gyms and you may feel like an imposter.

Head over to somewhere like https://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/muscle-building and pick a workout that suits your goals/how many days you can/want to be going to the gym. As has been said, workouts that are based around the big compound movements are your best bang for your buck (bench, overhead press, squat, deadlift, rows).

Record your lifts and try and do a little more each time you go. Rest, sleep, prioritise protein. Keep going :-)

Thanks Stevelol – I read great things about the Mattoc! Better than the Deville do you think?

Thanks all, really helpful. I’ve found servicing them easy due to compatibility of Fox 34 seals. They’re wearing out, looking for a reason to bin them off for something shinier but looks like that might be pointless!

Thanks Onzadog. They’re not tuned to me, but I have learned how to get the most out of them. I’m eyeing up some replacements as although I may repair them it may be throwing good money after bad?

@GolfChick – the Fox liners are ace; use them 5 days a week for commuting and for when the weather gets moody for offroad use. 1st pair lasted 5 years, now on 2nd pair. bit pricey, but they’re always on sale somewhere (Stif, direct from Fox maybe)

Stock Kashima CTD comes with a volume spacer fitted – from memory it was the middle-sized one of the 5 available. This was on my size large 2014 Bronson

I bought the pack of 5 and fitted the largest, made a big (better) difference. I’ve also got a Vorsprung can on there with makes the CTD better again; plush over the small stuff with mid-stroke support & good ramp up.

I have some suggestions if you PM me – I’m not sure I want to turn this thread into a “where do nice bikes hang out outside pubs” thread given how light-fingered some of our fellow Bristolians seem to be….

looks just the job – was looking at Moto 360 Sports but they’re not very rugged

    not Android Wear, but http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/5/10708240/garmin-tactix-bravo-military-watch-fenix-3-sport-ces-2016

FWIW, I snapped the Ti spring in my 55s and TFTuned replaced it with a slightly machined spring from a Lyrik coil. Was cheaper and way easier than trying to get hold of a Marzo Ti Spring.

6’2″ with 32″ inseam here – I ride a L Bronson and love it (40mm stem). Having short legs for my height meant the XL was a bit too tall for me, wheelbase too long and have I’ve always preferred smaller frames.

For reference, my other recent bikes have been an Orange Blood (L) and a Commencal Meta SX (L). The geo of the Bronson is on a par I’d say.

As above, Troy Lee KG5450 is your answer

As above really – too bright in higher settings for road use IMHO (you’ll get cars flashing you!) and runtime is c. 1hr at max. Very bright and handy light for offroad use, just remember to turn it down when climbing/chatting to extend the runtime.

@shaggy – Leku and I and a bunch of other guys filled in the bottom hole Weds night with soil, rocks and logs.
If you filled it in Thursday would suggest there’s someone up to no good (someone must have emptied it Thursday)?

We had a good hack round most of the off-piste LW stuff last night, no sign of any dropped kit, sorry

’tis true the TIE pilots and scout troopers did seem a bit handier than the regular ‘troopers.
Maybe they had less party action ^^^^ ;-)

I do remember thinking that white Stormtrooper armour on Endor seemed a little redundant

Further to my post above, our lads have been playing contact for two full seasons now and thankfully we have had only a handful of head injuries and zero concussions.

So based on my experience (YMMV etc) I would say that with the ages I’ve coached a scrum cap is little benefit. Even the RFU state that scrum caps are only good for abrasion protection.

Another coach here (U10s). Probably 25% of our kids wear scrum caps and that’s a mix of our better/fearless/apprehensive/less skilled kids. My lad refuses to wear one.

Kitwise, at this age I think the gumshield fit is the only important thing + keeping warm in the depths of winter (skins etc).

Technique for safe & confident tackling (low down, cheek to cheek etc) is key plus keeping it fun so they come back ;-)

people who don’t understand why you should reverse park unless you have a proper reason not to

People who reverse out of parking spaces/drives into busy streets/carparks where it would be much safer to have reversed in to the space and drive out forwards.

Nah, never a good reason ;-) I have educated my children accordingly

People who reverse into parking spaces in car parks. Why? Do you not want to use your boot?!

I’m running Giro Jacket mid-tops and I like them a lot.

I don’t get any rub and I’m running 35mm rims with big ass 2.35 Hans Dampfs. The rubbing would suggest a loose back end or a buckled wheel IMHO

I’m 6’1″ and have a L Bronson with a 35mm stem. As above, would recommend a test ride – I’ve not ridden many Santa Cruz bikes before the Bronson so can’t compare, but geo seems roughly in line with other brands i’ve had before. I compared the reach/stack etc with the L Meta SX I had before and there wasn’t much in it.

Depends on what you like I guess :-)

The best thing you can do right now is to be a friend and convince both parties to stay away from lawyers. Everyone needs to stay as cool as is possible.

I speak from very, very bitter experience.

My brother’s best mate used to be babysat by the uncle of someone in EMF – this transpired after talking to the band (we’re all from the FoD)

Had lunch at a table next to Robert Plant in Worcester

My brother-in-law was in the same school & year as Cat Deeley

The mum of the Taylors from Duran Duran taught in Mrs Fuzzhead’s school

Rick Parfit used to drink/eat in the pub I worked in as a kid – used to drive up in a gold roller IIRC

My mum shared a railway carriage with Ernie Wise once

I harrangued Paddy Ashdown during some electioneering thing and made it onto prime time news

Mike Tindall turned up at my Dad’s local village fete (very small village)

Swimming in cold, big surf is really really hard work

Echo this again. Have done this a few times in some quite scary surf and it’s not something I ever want to do again.

Once you lose your board the sea becomes a very different place.

Thoughts are with those who’ve lost, really sad news.
