It’s really very simple to tell.

    Why do they have puppies to sell?;
    1) because they are keeping a puppy for themselves and are selling off the rest of the litter = breeder
    2) they have bred a litter to sell all of the puppies = puppy farmer

Way too simplistic. A breeder may or may not keep a pup from a litter (particularly for shown dogs as they will judge a pups potential before deciding) and are also potentially selling to a waiting list of people who have researched sound breeders and breeding practices.

Nice autumnal morning in the Lairig Ghru this morning. It closed in quickly on the tops though.

I tried running/approach shoes (innov8, Terrex and Garmont) and couldn’t get on with the lack of ankle support.
As above, you really need to try and see if it works for you.

I’m back to wearing traditional walking boots (Zamberlan for summer and La Sportiva for winter) and always change the insoles to Superfeet.

Probably one of the most photographed Cairngorm vistas for yesterday’s lunch spot.

Deejo knives do a custom option.

Great, light little knives which aren’t too shabby to look at either. I use mine lots when I don’t want to carry the bulk of a Leatherman.

@woffle I really like that. Nice patina! The only thing i’d do is replace the lume pip (suitably patina’d). I’m looking for something similar from around ’77.

I’d agree with the earlier comment about sounding good with Tannoy speakers. They are a great match.

I’m curious to watch how the Carbon Neutral thing goes

they actually (claim to be – not fact checked it yet!!) Carbon Negative now, first brewery to achieve that if true AFAIK!

This is what I’m curious about. They are boldly making a claim to now be carbon negative, yet every bit of detail behind the claim that I have read is about how they plan to achieve it.

If I was a cynic, I’d say it’s a bold marketing statement to get approval from the buying public who won’t look at the detail.
That said, I’d happily be proved wrong.

As a relatively local company, I contemplated the equity thing way back, but for a variety of reasons I didn’t bother. In hindsight, I’m not fussed by that.
Since then they have just done more and more for me to dislike them.
Their beers have also went downhill big time (Punk is incomparable to the original and tbh, I’d rather drink a pint of *insert name of ubiquitous pub draft lager* than Lost Lager).
I’ll still buy some of their collaboration beers, as I can’t get things like Cloudwater locally.
I’m curious to watch how the Carbon Neutral thing goes, as they are making some big claims with as yet, little hard evidence behind it.

In short, if you like their beer and ethos, go for it. I don’t think they will see huge financial return now.

Dundonian born and bred, but now living in Aberdeenshire due to work.
The past few years have seen a big change in the city for the better. Plenty of nice bars and places to eat, the V&A and there was recent talk of locating a new Eden Project in one of the local parks.
Dundee’s location is a big advantage. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are all around an hour’s drive away.
Lots of decent local riding and the Cairngorms are a shortish drive away, as is Perthshire.

Living wise, the west side of the city is nice, as is Brought Ferry on the east. I wouldn’t rule out property in Fife within commuting distance either. I’d imagine your money will go much further than you’d get in Herefordshire!

Feel free to PM if you have any specific questions.

I’ve met the Conductor a few times and he was a really nice guy.

As a Perth to Glasgow daily commuter (pre COVID) me too. So so sad.

Yup, very sad. Found out tonight that the driver’s kids are at school with mine. Tragic.

Have any of you STW Brewers used Sabro hops? I’m away to do a SMaSH pale ale using it.

Some of the flavour profiles I’ve read are interesting (coconut, lime, mint)!

No surprise that The Sun would stoop so low.

I stay at the next stop south of where the accident happened and use the trains a fair bit. Going by the pictures of those sadly killed, I’ve met the Conductor a few times and he was a really nice guy.

I dont do long boards, but skating with the kids is great fun. I’m 43 and have skated on and off since I was a young lad.

Have you considered raw feeding? A lot of people say they see a dramatic change in their dogs when raw feeding.

She might tolerate a slow transition

Big advocate for this. Both of mine are raw fed. When you look into what is in most commercial dog food, it ain’t great.

Added bonus is tiny hard poop!

Admittedly my dogs aren’t labs, but I’d be concerned about a dog slowing down/showing stiffness at that young an age (my two are the same age as yours).

I’d be off to the Vet for a check up.

If you settle on a breed rather than a mutt, I’d recommend getting in touch/joining the breed specific club. I did that before buying a puppy and got lots of good advice regarding breeders before settling on one. It’s also been great for follow up advice.
I also was able to re-home another dog through the club as they matched up my lifestyle as being suitable for the dog.

Some folk seem a bit anti KC/pedigree, but with a bit of time and research, you’ll find lots of breeders are breeding with the best interests of the dog and the breed at heart. Particularly so with less “fashionable” breeds as they are not a massive money earner.

I tried to re-home before getting my current two and gave up as their wasn’t one local centre willing to re-home to a house with young kids.

There’s been racist riots in Glasgow today, I really don’t know what to say 😔

Racist riot is maybe a bit strong. From what I’ve seen it was mainly overweight middle aged loyalists and wee neds posturing, who got a bit uppity “protecting” statues and the Police managed to contain them.

…unless there has been other riots elsewhere?

Marantz CD6000OSE CD player and PM6010OSE amp here with Tannoy 605 speakers.
Not sure if that’s considered vintage, but it’s been with me most of my adult life!

Before those, it was Arcam Alpha and Nad something or other.

TBF, the Tories are doing quite well by themselves at the moment on this score, without any help.

Labour voters who automatically think that everything the tories do is evil.

@Kryton57 cheers. I get that they are within rights to request holidays be taken. It was the topping up to 100% comment I was curious about.

(I believe they can make you use some annual leave if they are topping up your pay to 100%)

Any source for that? I’m on 80% and have been requested to book holidays this month.

Some of us will vote for literally anyone who has half a chance of denying the SNP a seat, Tory, Lib dem, Labour, Monster Raving Loonies, anyone. If the Tories are the only opposition to the SNP in my constituency they get my vote.

Rangers supporter found. Pure staunch and all that.

    Lol at the above

Entirely your position to take. Fortunately, I remember the poll tax effects and more currently, the laughing stock this government has become.

You vote and I vote and we get what we get. Fortunately for me, it seems independence is becoming increasingly more likely.

I would be choosy about which family members I left our young’un with and I would personally drive from one end of country to the other to make sure she was happy while believing that was essential and within the guidelines regarding childcare

I would put mine to the closest, knowing that they would have the best interests of the little ones at heart. Even if that meant the outlaws. Given a choice, I would put them to my Mum, but she is 60 miles away and I wouldn’t consider that essential. Essential is making sure the kids are safe from harm and getting fed with a roof over their head. I would think DC had plenty options which met that criteria. He might have missed his mother’s birthday though, just as I did.

No. He was going out for a play👍
He wasn’t concerned that he might get hospitalised so took his 4 year old to be close to trusted family (a slightly more difficult decision than going to play on the beach I reckon)

Wow. So despite other family members living a stone’s throw away, driving that distance was acceptable?
He must have been in a bad way, given neither childcare nor hospital was required. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t fancy driving that distance when I was so ill. I also wouldn’t fancy sharing the enclosed space of a car with my kids either, spreading that all that viral load. I’m pretty impressed at the Disco Sport though, the fuel economy must be pretty good when it doesn’t need a top up.

Some modern cranes are designed to weathervane in high winds. Keeping the boom up reduces the radius of the weathervane.
Also, leaving the boom up reduces the impact on effective crane radius for other cranes working in the site.

My respect for the police evaporated when they waited until I was unconscious before stepping in and stopping an assault which resulted in me being taken in for scans etc. Lost teeth and a broken jaw isn’t fun. I could see them sitting in the car watching me taking a steel toe cap to the face.
I have friends who are Police, and older family friends who are ex police. The majority are ok, but there are some absolute bell ends. Just like a cross section of society.

I’m tempted by this. Not flashy and Seikoquartz inside, but a 500m rated dive watch for £105.

One of the 200m versions was found in working order after a month in the sea at a dive site.

    https://www.jfdecommerce.com/divex-offshore-500.html

    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/divex-watch-indian-ocean-shipwreck

Divex are an Aberdeen based commercial dive company, and these watches are badged up for them. They are quite common up here as they were given out as marketing/freebies (or they were before the downturn!). Of the ones I’ve seen, they aren’t great. The same watch is available under quite a few names. I don’t think anyone knows who makes them.

Bottled and kegged an IPA with Vic’s Secret Mouteka and Wha-iti hops tonight. Early signs are promising.
I have also tinkered with my kit. Two stainless conicals for fermenting and built a kettle with a RIMS set up and added a sight glass and an inlet for the whirlpool.

The NH movements aren’t higher spec than the standard 7S26. It’s essentially the same movement with hacking and hand winding.

Any thoughts on a Oris Divers Sixty-Five?
I have a significant birthday not too far away and like the look of these.
    Any views?

I looked in to that watch when I had a significant birthday too as I like the look of it. Reviews questioned the finishing on the case, and I was surprised it was only 100m water resistant, not that that matters in the real world. I decided not to.

Lots of online places to get proper yeast, but be aware that they are struggling to keep up with demand at the moment, so lots of delays.
