Basically anything offshore pays way better than the onshore equivalent. Just need your Bosiet/Mist certificate which is a week long course covering Fire-Fighting/Fire-evac/Helicopter escape/HSSE legislation. Most rigs in the UK/Norway sector are pretty comfy too.

Your unlikely to get a Roustie job with just BOSIET/MIST. Add Banksman/Slinger (3 days £1k) OERTM (5 days +£2k) and HERTM (4 days £2k) to that list as a minimum.

    Timex.

    Nothing wrong with Timex.

The city of Dundee would disagree with this statement. Never worn a Timex and never will.

I find the Arione really comfy on the road bike.

I’ve used Nano’s and currently using 44 Raddlers.

I don’t think about them, so I guess that makes them fit and forget. They roll not too badly on the road for a reasonably chunky tire.

Forum absolutely yes. I don’t post too much but I’ve had a read of the forum almost daily since 2003.
The magazine I wouldn’t miss at all as I don’t mountain bike anymore, so I don’t really reflect the target readership.
I couldn’t actually say when I last read a magazine in any format.

Out front mount here. It’s rock solid.

It takes a while to get used to a big lump of a smartphone on the front of the bike.

In Scotland the vast majority of leave voters vote for one party, while the remain vote is split across three parties

True, however it also ignores the fact that a significant number of voters of traditionally unionist parties support indy (1/3 of the Labour membership iirc). To a lesser extent, the same could be said of SNP voters.

The last referendum was an angry, bitter, divisive and at times violent affair that caused fall-outs between families, friends etc. A lot of us do not want to see that repeated.

Not to diminish your experience @kennyp but I don’t remember it being like that at all (and I generally only hear this argument from those against a ref). The only violence I can recall was as per the post above. There were some healthy debates, but to be honest I thought that was a positive thing that people were engaging in politics. Other than a few roasters on social media, it was pretty civil IMHO. I certainly didn’t fall out with anyone.

We already control mostday to day issues.

Apart from immigration, energy, social security, trade and industry…..

We are talking about millions of gallons of untreated sewage here.

MARPOL may state that you can dump greater than 12nm but I have yet to be on a vessel that doesn’t have an effective sewage treatment plant regardless.

Food waste too. That has to be macerated to X ppm before it can be discharged.

Anyway, thread derail to an extent.

But do they have a crew of 3000 people?

No, but they operate under the same maritime legislation.

Those are the rules, yes, but I wouldn’t trust the cruise industry to be scrupulously observing them. Even being allowed to dump a small town’s worth of untreated sewage 12 miles off shore is a ridiculous proposition. They should be carrying it to onshore sewage treatment facilities.

To do otherwise would risk detention of the vessel.
Vessels all over the world dump at greater than 12 miles from shore. It’s not feasible to hold it in tanks. The vessel I worked on could be at sea for months without visiting port.

It’s a cruise ship, it’s ALWAYS pollution. Imagine how much liquid shite it’s concurrently dumping into the bay.

It won’t be as it would be in contravention of MARPOL. Treated sewage can’t be discharged within 3 nautical miles of shore and untreated within 12 nautical miles of shore.

A fair comment (and remember I said I wasn’t necessarily against a second referendum), however they were elected through the first past the post system which has a huge number of flaws. And yes, Westminster elections are just as bad, before anyone else points that out.

    AMS not FPTP.

Okay, at the moment it’s a roughly 50/50 split, but for the SNP to claim we are being denied our democratic rights is nonsense.

The SNP and the Greens who form a majority government and were both voted in with a referendum in their manifestos. If both parties in a majority government are denied the opportunity to implement their manifestos, surely that is undemocratic?

    I’m afraid I have decided I don’t believe WVA’s performances.

I’m not going to go quite that far, but I have thought WTF on more than one occasion.

IKon Shavecraft 101 with a weighty handle from Executive Shaving. Been in use since 2014 or 2015.
Just checked it and there is zero corrosion.

I’ve also got a cheap Gillette one and it’s good.

    Both used with Feather blades.

Naturehike cloud up or one of the Vango F10 tents would be my choice.

I have a Wild Country Zephyros 2 which I use when the dogs come camping (I wouldn’t let them in the Laser Comp!). It’s served me well for a few years now.

I’ve heard a few complaints about Terra Nova/Wild Country but their costumer service was reasonable when I dealt with them (admittedly about 5 or 6 years ago).

I wore a leather hairnet on the road bike in the 80’s.

The first “proper” helmet I had was a Giro one in about 1988. It was polystyrene and didn’t have a shell, but came with a lycra cover.

Anyone else remember Etto helmets? I thought I was the biz when I got one of them in the early 90’s.

I’ve been watching the Tour for many a year and that was one of the best stages I’ve seen. It had everything. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

A touch of class from Pogacar at the end too.

Also a touch of class from WvA giving a fan his green jersey after borrowing his pump on the way back to the hotel.

These seem like the most ridiculous indulgences, especially on this forum where people tend to favour sustainability and other progressive causes.

Nothing really to add, I’d happily ride a Chinese frame, but I’m always put off the ones that come with the integrated bars/stem due to an irrational fear of them failing.

I use a Judge hand grinder and a Krups expert electric grinder. I’ll admit that there is no discernable difference in taste.

As for buying beans, I buy from this lovely little shop which is the oldest shop in town. Appreciate that it adds nothing to the conversation, but its a lovely place and like stepping back in time.

@spooky_b329 I’m aware of the requirements of RIDDOR. I’ve been responsible for submitting RIDDOR reports for longer than I care to remember. Other than the OP suggesting that his ailment was caused by work there is no proof of that, at this time. Until there was an assessment of the OP’s ailment by an OH professional which made the direct link to it being caused by working practices, then it’s not reportable.

not only do you not want them to report it to RIDDOR (which I thought was a legal requirement?)

It is. If a direct link can be made to the injury being proven to the work.

It sounds like your injury is reportable under RIDDOR if caused, or aggravated by your

Nothing in the OP’s post suggests it’s RIDDOR reportable.

They’re also both more fallible than Pog – I find it hard to identify with someone who seems to float through life untouched by misfortune.

He set up a cancer charity and unveiled it today in memory of his partners mum.

Now I’m as sceptical as anyone…but.

Like it or not you’re part of British culture, you’re part of what makes Britain what it is.

Should Scotland, England or Wales choose independence, we’d still be sharing the same land mass which constitutes Britain.
