It could be due to a low refrigerant level. Get it checked and topped up if neccesary.

I replaced the batteries in a set a few months ago and honestly it was not too bad of a job. Watch a couple of videos on soldering technique ahead of time. be careful when removing tabs from the old batteries, a pair of needle nose piers were handy. Make sure you have a powerful soldering Iron so you can get to temp quick without heat soaking the batteries. Batteries were cheap from ebay. Look for higher capacity cells in the same form factor.

The stock R600 position is not MTB friendly so I 3D printed a mount for an R600 shifter to put it in a better place on my bars, closer to where a regular shifter resides.

There is very little MTB’ing in either of those areas so I am guessing that is why you aren’t seeing any guides listed. Your best bet is to post up in the local area forum on MTBR for some intel on your options. I suspect you will need to make a road trip of at least a couple of hours to get anything decent.

Pivot Mach 4. I have been testing everything I can in preparation for a new bike purchase this year and nothing has really shone until I rode this bike. I have tested a SC 5010 twice now as the the first time I thought I must have missed set up for it to feel that uninspiring, the Mach 4 felt fantastic without doing anything other that set sag.

I raced last week with a member of their staff and was picking his brain on suitability for a future build. He confirmed they have made several revisions and now have a solid product, was very open about the earlier models failures. Anything that goes in for service or warranty should automatically get any updates or revised components to bring it up to latest spec.

I have a friend here in town who is a notorious bike breaker, been through several Nomads (Carbon and Alu), Rocky Mountains and a Specialized and so far his has lasted three months with no issues. For reference Nomads would usually last a year or so under him. He also really rates it, says it is the best he has ridden. I hope to bum a ride when the weather clears a little to see what the hype is all about.

I have been racing my 26′ 100mm travel SS hardtail in Enduros, pretty unfashionable at the moment.

This guy was the father of one of the other racers who walked up and asked if I was seriously going to ride that thing and to let him know how it went after the race. Currently I am sitting 3rd in the sport class with one more round to go.

It was a very anonymous ’50s(?) set that I used in the garage for a few years after we moved in. We were going to throw them out so I figured I had better check to see if anything was stored in there.

Our last house was purchased as an estate sale after the previous owners had died with no living relatives so lots of random stuff including a “massager” hidden on the shelf in the top of a closet. There was also a chest of drawers with a secret compartment that contained several antique watches and some old coins that are currently worth well over ten times what I paid for the house. :-)

Why was yours out of warranty?

My first frame cracked at the same point and was repaired under warranty and back with me in a couple of weeks. Fast forward 4 years and another crack appeared so I sent it in for repair but didn’t hear anything for a couple of weeks so contacted them to see what was going on. I was informed that a complete new frame was built and was having the graphics etched and would be ready to ship in a couple of days (it was). Really can’t complain about the service I have had from them, I suspect you will be taken care of.

The magazines suck over here, I haven’t bought one for many years.

I frequent STW more than any of the US based websites. I used to be active on MTBR and roadbikereview but they have both grown into such huge entities now that the “community feeling” is no longer there. You will find a most of the local cycling clubs have their own website and forums or Facebook page.

    Where are you moving to?

This bike turns eleven in November, still quite a few original components.

Do diesels have a vacuum servo? No throttle plate means no inlet vacuum. Either a pump has gone bad or the accessory drive belt has disappeared.

I still ride my 2003 Titus Locomoto, it is on the car ready for a ride tonight. Original Headset (King), Seatpost (Thomson), Cranks (XT), Shifters and derailleurs (XTR), Brakes (Mono Mini) and wheelset (DT 4.1, Revoution and King). I would say I have had my moneys worth out of it.

Avoid the Wippermann 708 as well. I tried it as it was recommended that as a bushingless chain it would last longer than a 9 speed chain. I had to adjust after every ride due to the slack that was developing, at 68 miles there was .025″ over 6″ of chain and by 107 miles it was worn out. The maintenance was exactly the same as the 9 speed chains that regularly go 700+ miles.

The PC1 is also a steaming pile.

Forgot to mention it is a Single speed.

26″ is not dead. I raced my 26″ hard tail Lynskey in the local Super D race a couple of weeks ago as my FS needs a shock rebuild and has chain retention issues. 25th place out of 44 in the open class, just a minute off the top 10. 100mm fork to. :D

Bluetooth G Shock. It is great when I am out riding as I can stash my phone in the Camelback and still see who is calling/texting/emailing without having to dig it out and ignore or respond as needed.

Too much grease that way and the seal will pop out letting grease out and crap in.

I am on my third set, not one has lasted more than 500 miles with one pair dying in under 200 miles. They have not been used in wet conditions, dry weather only and on each set the bearings have taken a crap. Very poor considering the cheap as chips Wellgos they replaced had lasted over 8 years and many thousands of miles in the same conditions.
