Surely only 853 steel should be classed as pure steel, everything else is a poor imitation, imo

Ummmm… what exactly is pure steel?

To the OP… any of those bikes would be fantasitc, I’ve got an Inbred and I love it.

And after lunch presumably they launched an unmanned rocket that was entirely operated by remote control and secret sophisticated on-board computers that none of the thousands of designers, engineers, manufacturers, technicians, safety guys, etc knew anything about.

Hold on… wouldn’t that actually end up being more complicated and harder to achieve than putting a few blokes on a rocket?

    Especially after a good lunch… :D

RB… what actual evidence do you have that ‘quite a few of the images we’ve been allowed to see, are fake’?

Read my previous bit on film.

So, you read it somewhere on t’internerd then?

Or do you have actual experience/knowledge of the camera design and film stock?

RB… what actual evidence do you have that ‘quite a few of the images we’ve been allowed to see, are fake‘? Maybe it is just something that you ‘know’? Or did someone on the internet tell you? :D

What are you buying now Greg? I thought you were trimming the bike fleet for the time being, or is was that to make room for another?

    ;o)

They all use slightly different actuation ratios, but for all intents and purposes SRAM and Shimano mix and match without any problems, but Campag does not play very well with either…

However, as mentioned above, the JTek allows mixing various components, plus CRC have some funky Ambrosio cassettes that allow you to run Campag ergos/rear mech with Shimano wheels and vice versa, which might help with things…

But, unless you have some need to, why not just stick with one manufacturer, then you know it’ll all work fine…

I looked into this as I’m *fingers crossed* getting a Roadrat on the B2W scheme and wanted to transplant my Campag stuff onto it, while still running the cable discs, which is a problem as getting hold of Campag compatible disc hubs is expensive! That was when I discovered the Ambrosio cassettes on CRC, which seems a far better(cheaper) solution for me!

Big Bloke… didn’t Hitler and the Nazi party used to be called the National Socialists? Doesn’t that mean that sometimes people will tell fibs for their own purposes?

I think you’ve got it all wrong… surely they are just being rather enthusiatic supporters of Bike Week?

    :D

Plus, why are all you lot moaning, I’d have thought it was an ideal excuse to ride into work!

As peachos says above, just get a DMR chaintug with mech hanger built in. I have one on my Pompino at the moment and it works just fine.

RS7’s are the do-it-all crank arm and are guarenteed even for downhilling and freeriding, whereas the RS8’s are lighter, and not guarenteed for such foolishness!

Do you need ISIS? No, you can use square taper as well, but obviously not with the same crank arms, you’d need the correct set.

Deore Hollowtech (1 presumably) actually uses a propriatery bottom bracket called Octalink and is not compatible with Middleburn rank arms.

I’d say in the near future series-hybrid is where we should be heading, you use a fuel source of whatever you fancy, petrol in a Stirling engine would be a good start for now as you can run it at very high efficiencies, convert the output to electricty and then use that to supply a relatively small back of batteries, and then an electric motor…

The Frazer-Nash Namir is a good example of this…

Another big thank you to the organisers, had a cracking time even if my time to do a single lap was more than it took the winners to finish 2! But then I did dawdle at the beer stop for a while.. :D

And I still can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather!

Had an amazing cider a while ago called Greensleaves and it was actually green, tasted of quite flowerly Granny Smiths… was lovely.. but also very dangerous being about 7% and emminently quaffable.

I believe it works like this…

You should get a Letter of Collection (LoC) or similar from your employer which you then hand over to Halfords when you pick the bike up. I think you’ll need it on hand for ordering over the phone as well…

However, if you take the LoC to Leisure Lakes they can then do the getting of the bike for you.

I’m hoping that’s correct as I’ve just signed up for the maximum £1000 through work here and that comes through Halfords…

    *fingers crossed*

Do you have a local Leisure Lakes? They take Halfords vouchers and will deal with Cotic as I asked them last week…

    Sorted!

    It’s what I am doing…

I think that there are a couple of other bike shops that will take the vouchers too, I think Alpine Bikes do… there maybe more..

If you are feeling that way inclined I’d suggest not giving up as such, but maybe finding something else to do for a while and then you’ll find you will just naturally progress back to cycling…

Also, am I right in thinking you commute by bike to work? I found I was a lot less inclined to go out in the evening and weekends when I was already riding a bike twice a day… so maybe cutting down on that would help..

CRC have a bucket load of mech hangers, have a look in the Frame Spares section and look on page 4 for the Wheels Manufacturing hangers…

It’s for proof that it is actually that particular car, and not some other car with hookie plates.

Stops people claiming that their car was at home and it must have been someone who copied/stole their numberplate.

Is Lee Cooper still making frames? He was the one who did the building for Solitude, when they were about, and I just love mine…

Have just done a search and he is… have a look here[/url]…

Do Merlin still deal with Halfords? As you can no longer get Merlin bikes through the Halfords B2W scheme…

Leisure Lakes confirmed to me last week that they still did though…

cheers_drive… I reckon he got to somewhere around the middle of the road before veering back again, and as I said, I didn’t overtake then as I thought it wasn’t safe to do so… anyone would think I barged past him with only an inch to spare! I later overtook him when it was safe to do so, on a flat section where he wasn’t weaving… I’m not sure I could have done any better as a driver, unless not overtaking at all is the only acceptable thing to do.

mansonsoul… car drivers tend to have mirrors, but I will grant that not all use them and some drivers are utter c*cks.. but that doesn’t mean they all are.

Just out of interest, is there any law surrounding this sort of thing?

    funkynick

djglover… I was trying to make sure I gave him as much room as possible when I overtook, and when I did finally I was fully on the over side of the road… but it’s kinda hard to do that when he’s veering across the road, so I didn’t overtake at that point.

In which case, surely I did the right thing in not overtaking at that point!

    funkynick

mrmo… there would have been plenty of room to pass if he wasn’t wandering quite so much across the road, and the reason I didn’t pass him there was because it was not safe to do so having no idea whether he was going to wander even further across the road. It just seemed to be that he was completely oblivious to the fact that there was anything behind him.

Gary_M.. I don’t seem to have any trouble hearing cars behind me when I’m riding in on my commute, even if it’s windy, and if that is a problem surely it’s just made even worse by wearing earphones!

I’ve recently just gone over to using ghetto tubeless on both my singlespeed and my 5 Spot… admittedly the 5 Spot is using wider rims, but it’s first trip out on them was to the Peak and they didn’t even bat an eyelid with my clumsy riding… they worked flawlessly. On the singlespeed I’m using 717 with 2.4 WTB running at about 30-35psi and they seem absolutely fine too.

I’m just wondering if the rim had been previously damaged, or the bead hadn’t fully seated and that was the problem. I’ve had a tyre blow off a rim with a tube in it, just standing on the floor because the bead hadn’t fully engaged…
