As above, do your contacts stuff in Gmail on a PC and the phone will just sync with that.

Virgin email accounts are no problem, and I’d suggest setting it up with IMAP, it’s far superior to POP3. If you have trouble with the settings just shout and I can post the relevant bits.

CFH… I have a blue one of those in my shed… Kirk that is..

The BB shell is knackered, but it seems a shame to get rid of it, and t’other half didn’t seem to want to let me hang it on the wall in the lounge!

I rather like that, so thought I’d just had a look to see if they did it as a frameset… they do, but it’s £750!!!

I almost fell off my chair…

Another vote for the Altura waterproof baggies… they are fantastic and this time of year I tend to use them no matter if it’s raining or not.

There are also Endura Stealth tights/bibs which are waterproof, but they are quite pricey and unless you wear them all the time they would be a little bulky to carry.

I’d go for the Altura shorts myself.

Only ten rides and you got mid pack?

There is hope for me yet! So if I keep it below five rides, does that mean I have a chance of being on the podium? ;o)

Will be good to say hello again.. :o)

I’ve got some oldish 2.4 WTB Mutanoraptors on the Inbred at the moment which come up pretty large, and although the tread doesn’t look that big they seem to find traction really well and have worked in mud surprisingly well. They have also handled being run tubeless without any issues.

Are you doing it again this year?

I’ve got an old chain tensioner in the shed I think… although looking at the photos in the other thread, it might be the same type.

It always gave me problems with 1/8 chains as the clearance of the chain was very small. It’s be worth checking to make sure that isn’t causing trouble.

You really aren’t having much luck with this are you!

You can bring it over and I can have a look at it/hit it with hammer… a second set of eyes might help…

I’m a tiny bit shorter than you and ride a 16″ Inbred, which feels just about perfect in size for me, so you might be okay on a 16.5″ Sirius…

However, it will almost always depend on your actual proportions…

Find somewhere nice to run, preferably offroad as it’s more fun, and then just build up the distance gradually…

I found that doing equal times walking/running/walking/running helped me to feel that I was spending a decent amount of time doing the exercise while not killing myself straight off. Then just increase the times running compared to walking until you can easily run the whole route.

I never used to enjoy it at all until I started running offroad, and now I love it, even to the point where I have done the odd fell race and am thinking about doing more this year!

MSP… You are correct that there are 4 possible scenarios, but scenarios 3 and 4 have only half the probability of 1 and 2.

See Drac piccie earlier in the thread.

Drac.. no it’s not, you know for certain that there is no car behind that door as you can see a goat behind it, therefore the probability of it being the car is 0.

    funkynick

How about this… if there are 100 doors, 99 goats, one car…

Pick a door, the odds on the car are 1 in 100

Now he opens 98 other doors with goats behind.

Do you contest that at this point, without any other choise being offered, they you have a 50:50 chance of winning the car?

Last time this came up someone, GrahamS I think, wrote a script for testing this and proved it empirically. It’s also been done in Excel as well I believe.

The answer is to always swap.

    Think of it this way…

You pick one of the three doors.

The odds that you picked the right one are 1 in 3.

The host opens a door and shows you a goat.

At this point, before offering you a choice, would you agree that the odds that you picked the right door are still 1 in 3?

By the host opening the door, we know that the odds of there being a car behind that door have collapsed to 0, while the odds that you picked the correct door to start with is still 1 in 3, you haven’t been asked if you want to change yet.

As the set of all odds has to add up to 1, the other door then must have odds of 2 in 3 that the car is behind it.

Still no choice been allowed here.

At this point you are asked if you want to change. Can you explain to me why the odds would then change to 1 in 2 at this point?

I’ll most likely be doing it on my trusty old Inbred.

The other option would be my 5 Spot, but the idea of lugging that lump around 100 miles really does not fill me with joy!

Or there is always the singlespeed I guess… *gulp*

Oh, I’m sure I’ll enjoy parts of it, like the finish, but…

Mate…it was HARD work…if you want to do the 100 mile thing there get some serious training in!

People saying things like that really isn’t helping you know! ;o)

Do you really mean SATA here? I didn’t think SATA really existed back then… and also, you state it’s running on an old Promise IDE card.

Just check that you don’t mean PATA before ordering any disks!

I’ve never been, but I’m sure I am going to absolutely hate the place after doing 100 miles around there in September…

Why did I ever think signing up for that race would be a good idea??

Some kind of stack/memory/pointer overflow in the software?

And a good call on the virtualisation… you can run either VirtualBox or VMWare very easily. With VMWare Converter you should even be able to take a virtual copy of your current machine to use too! Although it might just be easier to generate a new VM and install.

Is it actually the file size that is being complained about? Or is it that you are hitting a maximum number of array elements?

    Aaaah right.. gotcha…

I presume though that would be a feature of the fork itself, and not something that would be possible to do by fiddling with the adjustments/air pressures on the fork?

It’s just that they seemed far softer than I’d think of running them, and he had almost full travel in places where I thought he wouldn’t… and seeing as he does know how to ride a bike, I was thinking that maybe he knew better…

Jedi.. by progressive you mean that they move easily and you use a lot of travel all the time?

I’ve got the Montane featherlite velo H2O jacket and while it’s good for short cloudbursts I’d not want to be out in anything much longer… however it is very light and packs down very small.

I’ve also got a Montane Velocity DT jacket which is more substantial and I’d happily use that for all day rain, however it does cost more although I found mine for about £60.

spooky… not entirely true, you can do like for like replacement like swapping the shower unit, but not install a new one from scratch.

Now, whether rewiring and upping the rating would be considered like for like is probably open for debate!

Just out of interest, are there actually enough jobs in the rural economy to support all the villages/small towns without having any ‘incomers’?

    funkynick

balfa… they will if you do the calcs by halving the volume etc…

Say for example that the low volume can is 10mm3 and the high is 20mm3 in volume.

Now, if the shock compresses, reducing the volume by 5mm3, that’s halving the volume of the low volume can doubling the pressure, but only reducing the volume by 25% with the high volume can which gives 1.5 times the pressure.

So, as the force required to compress the shock further is related to the pressure, then compressing the low volume shock is now harder than compressing the high volume shock. They both ramp up but the hv one ramps up slower.

If you go the slipstream route, the software I used was vLite. It was very easy to use…

m_f… I do think that sometimes it’s in the running shops best interests to find a ‘condition’. It’d probably worth you speaking to a podiatrist and getting that checked by them, and unless you need custom made inner soles then the off the peg ones are relatively cheap and seem to work pretty well on t’other half.

Firstly you need to check that the motherboard has Win7 drivers available for it. The manufacturers site should be able to tell you.

Once you have downloaded drivers for the correct Win7 version, you need to make sure that they are saved on a medium that can be used during the installation.

Does the motherboard have the ability to boot from USB drives? If not then you’ll probably not be able to use the USB drive for loading the drivers. You could try burning the drivers onto a CD and using that.

The other option is to create a Win7 install disc from the one you have that has all the required drivers already in place. This is called ‘Slipstreaming’ and there is some pretty simple software available off t’interweb for doing this. It works well as I used this method for installing XP on a new Dell laptop a few weeks ago.
