Yes motion detection activated just load app on phone , get a notification that there’s movement and open app for live viewing. Gets second battery while one charges you pop the other one in. Precisely what I used it for while in the USA on holiday over Xmas and New Year

No subscription for live viewing and the night viewing is great.

I have two ring cameras I use for live check in, I like them because they are hd quality, they notify me when they are activated. Plus I can speak to someone via my phone. ( mine are outside btw). They have an indoor camera for your exact purpose

Curious to know what rear tyre are you running? If I decide to keep my frame was hoping to run 2.4 Barzo or XR4.

That’s a good option for me, a set of 650b wheels with wider tyres and run the El Mariachi as a 29er to create two distinct and different bikes with different characteristics. Cheers

@benp1 it’s neither to be honest, I’m dealing with a kidney tumour and just evaluating the future with regard to “living” a bit more. I suppose the best thing to do would be build it and ride it then decide. Jameso that exactly how is planned to run it, built with a firestarter fork and 2.6 front with a 2.4 rear, 1×11 drivetrain.

I’ve always had two bikes over the last 10-15 yrs , a hardtail and a full suss. Always ended up selling the least used then fell into the same trap of thinking I needed two. In reality the Vaya copes well with singletrack and will run 29×2.0 tyres. So probably will sell the new El Mariachi frame. Anyone interested??

I’ve been running 11 speed on a few bikes and have 11 speed on my gravel bike, never felt under geared, quite content to run my new El Mariachi on 11speed also

A rigid 29er that can accept large volume tyres, I’m currently building a hardtail for that purpose it’ll run 2.6 front and 2.4 rear tyres.
I’d look at the stooge tbh.

Me. But intend to be out full on in the New Year on gravel bike until I get the El Mariachi built up, when I’m back from the USA.

Interesting I was hoping they would be a fit and forget set up for all year round use. 🙁

At 51 I’m not a downhill demon so should be fine picking my line at a slower speed, and with a 2.6 tyre running tubeless and carbon bars should take the sting out of things a bit.
Anyone running a Barzo front/Mezcal rear?

Sounds good I’ll give it a bash with the firestarter fork then. Bonty XR4’s front and back then. I suppose the savings in the fork will go to a nice 1x drivetrain and nice new brakes. Probably both SLX.

Yes it’s steel and the Salsa firestarter fork is also steel, but qr, not sure if that’s a bad thing in the world of axles.

I would like to try rigid and that was the intention then googled some el mariachi pics for inspiration and loads had suspension forks and then the voice in my head started to niggle me. I had intended to run a 2.6 front tyre and a 2.4 rear tyre

I’ve a 2017 Salsa Vaya and it will run easily with mud room 700cx50 and in 650b I can run 2.1’s with mud room. And a lot cheaper that a cutthroat and I’ve never felt underbiked even on local singletrack

@molegrips This might be an option if you have cranks, all you need is a chainring of your choice
