@bencooper I did not go direct to transition.

I would like to make it clear that the shop and the guys at Surf Sales have been more than helpful in their efforts my gripe is the reply they got from Transition when they contacted them I was not legally conversant with where I stood and that was the reason for the post and also to see how other forum users have faired with a similiar problem.

Just to clarify things the dealer that I purchased the frame from was told via email and relayed this to me. I immediately rang them to see if I was reading the email right as I was in disbelief, they said they could not believe the remark and stated that other brands with whom they had issues with paint defects replaced them without question namely Santa Cruz.

“said they weren’t willing to do anything and that it was just unfortunate…. that although not ideal paint doesn’t affect performance of the frame.”
but after arguing and saying that was not good enough because they deal with other brands and have never had this type of off the cuff remark by a bike manufacturer that prides itself on being rider owned and rider focused that states on their website:

“Transition Bikes is fully committed to keeping you riding and we will do anything we can to keep a Transition Bike underneath you.”

“REMEMBER, WE’RE PULLING FOR YOU – WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER”

I fear this might not apply to me.

Cheers druidh, and thats what I said Jamie that if paint did not matter why bother painting it in the first place!!

druidh that was what Transition replied to the dealer that I bought the frame from

Just got this reply from Transition and I’m slightly bemused to say the least

“said they weren’t willing to do anything and that it was just unfortunate…. that although not ideal paint doesn’t affect performance of the frame.”

Then after much arguing from the LBS they said they would replace chainstay and give me a £30 voucher despite the main frame looking like shit and like its 2-3 yr old very dull and lacklustre, and the possibility of future paint problems.

    Any solicitors out there

Ordered an e-13 trs dual from descent gear for £70 was told they had none so they ordered one from distributors Silverfish for me. What arrived with them was a trs+ so they sent it back to Silverfish. After much disappointment it emerged that Silverfish only had the trs+ at £149.99. Amazingly Steve at descentgear picked up the difference in price as a courtesy and Silverfish sent it direct with a free e-13 t-shirt. Amazing Customer Service in my eyes!
    Cheers Guys.

Cheers Jedi was considering a 2.4 on the front and putting the 2.2 on the rear, any experince of the 2.4 black chilli as a front, opinion is that they are huge and if run at low psi squirm a lot, I would anticipate running at 25-27 psi as I ran the 2.2 at that any opinion would be appeciayed, Cheers.

To Jedi, for the last few years ran maxxis, changed recently to RQ front and MK 2 rear, just curious how you find the RQ on the rear?

Dale emailed you last night re rubber queens.

I have the black chilli protection version in 2.2 on the front of my bandit and they are awesome especially with grip in the turns, sidewall on protection version feels great. Although the concenses of opinion on here a while ago was to run with the rubber queen black chilli on the front and a MK 2 on the rear. I’m 13 stone and ride with 27psi in the front and 25 psi in the rear. Works for me.

I’ve tried all the stw favourites and recommendations but after many tries ended up with a Syncros AM saddle. At the end of the day its all about comfort and the length of time you want to spend in the saddle!

Used Stans on my first attempt to go tubeless, advice I got from the forumers was that it can depend on the tyre also, mine inflated first time with a rubber queen and a MKII found they sealed very quickly upon inflation, best tip is to use a little more sealant than recommended. WMB have just voted Stans as there go to sealant if that helps.

Just got this reply from Dafydd hope this makes things clear for everyone
    My Question to him was:
Dafydd been up at Rostrevor on Sunday guys riding the trails and saying they should be ridden as it will bed the trails in what is your opinion on this? But more worrying while there there were loads of dog walkers on the trails and while talking to quite a few of them they were of the opinion that they should have access to these and if they meet a biker hairing down the trails they will simply step aside this is a recipe for serious injury to both parties so how is this going to be policed? By the way trails look great and no I was not riding them but using the old existing natural trails.

    Reply was:
If the intention was for people to ride the trails to help bed them in, we would be encouraging people to ride on them – but, as most people seem to understand, the contrary is actually true – the trails need time to settle naturally (though obviously, those constructed last will have less time) and in addition, these riders are putting the project as a whole and completion dates at risk as Euro Services Contracts are having to spend a lot of time and energy dealing with trying to keep people off them and repairing damage to trails which aren’t even complete yet. With regards to walkers on the trails they will be putting themselves and the riders in jeopardy as these are dedicated mountain bike trails, they have not been designed with multi use in mind – some of the trails will be especially narrow and twisty and there will be nowhere to ‘step off’ to. Plus the riders won’t be looking out for walkers, as they won’t be expecting any on the trails – they’ll be expecting a good fun ride without having to worry about avoiding people and dogs (except maybe at forest road crossing or on forest road sections of course). Rangers will be in place at both Rostrevor and Castlewellan before the trails open, to educate and manage users along with information panels and signage, but obviously they can’t be everywhere at once.

Life is short and you’re a long time dead. Get the frame you want

This should sum it up for everyone who is deliberating over a frame/bike I lost my dad 10 weeks ago just 5 weeks after he was diagnosed with lung and spinal cancer my mum has MS so this is my everyday quote to kick myself up the ass and never moan about a shitty day! Things can always be worse, I recently built up a Transition Bandit a few weeks after my dads death ( the bike i wanted)and strive to ride it as much as possible as a reminder to my dad who was larger than life and like you matt always said to everything HE did “you’re a long time dead!” Will be pulling the trigger on that Yelli Screamy in the new year! Cheers dad!

1 point I’m liking about the Canfields is that for anyone with maybe enough space for > 1 HT, they need to be different. And it is different. I like it’s been made to do a thing well rather than hit a middle-ground.

mattjg get your point of view precisely, that is why I love them so much but as a first foray into the 29er brigade I’m not sure about the initial outlay perhaps can import one direct from Canfield, with duty and shipping think it should be around £560, an amount that I might be able to live with :D

Really loving those Canfields especially in sic green, but at £850 a frame are they really worth double the price of the Kenesis FF29 or the Solaris?
