As wobbliscott said Transition Bandit, run mine tubeless with a2x10 carbon bars it is an awesome ride climbs and descends with ease, you won’t regret pulling the trigger on one. All in at 27.5lbs.

tomglass20 I had a 2012 frame that the paint came off the swingarm after second ride but apparently it was only a fault with my frame and not a complete batch according to transition. Not sure how you fing the frame on the covert but the concensus of opinion on here is that the paint can be fragile but the new 2013 frame appears to be a much better and tougher finish. I got the stealth black in 26er flavour and it is stunnin, two guys in our group ride 29ers FS and the bandit leave them for dead on the decents.

Yes mate but i suppose it is dependant where your riding, tried a covert found the same as you on the ups so got a bandit, it is awesome have had mine in Wales and Scotland and here in Ireland its a go (nearly) everwhere bike for me, just received the new 2013 as a warranty replacement with cool looking kashima ctd shock, good luck with the swap!

Before shelling out on rubber queen/mk2 in chili flavour I ran a Maxxis advantange/ardent combo it was very grippy and didn’t wash out perhaps worth a look, some decemnt used ones around at reasonable money

Not sure what you mean by the bandit being heavy, surely your final weight will be dictated by your build spec. Mine was built up at 27.5lb, an awesome bike just got the new 2013 frame with the kashima shock looks very sexy!

Have been wearing the Fox Launch for several months now can climb and descend with no issues and as the reviews state once you put them on its a fit and foget not bulky and fit under my shorts very well ventilated and never pich or bunch up behind the knees very good allround! At £39.99 a bargain but in caying that have never crashed in them so never tested in anger!!!

no problem just watched the stans video and the sealed first time and have had no trouble since September, using stans flow ex rims with stans rim tape and stans fluid. had hans dampfs on before the contis they also sealed first time but where i am they were just to draggy on the climbs

would not necessarily agree that the five has the edge descending, having ridden both (but perhaps I’m a bit biased) if you are undecided see if someone will give you a spin on both plenty of the stw followers will perhaps accomodate you. not sure about pricing but good deals on 2012 bandit frames.

currently riding a bandit and loving it, climbs exceptionally well and as jedi said very nimble and direct with lots of feedback on the descents. it is classy looking aswell. i agree that lapierre’s are a bit ott withbthe graphics but they ride well, ridden a mates five and just was not convinced it was not for me, probably so used to the bandit, and not keen on the looks. not sure if this helps but I would definately try to get a demo on the bike you are leaning to, says me who bought the bandit based on reviews. My bandit weighs in at just over 27lbs with carbon bits and tubeless set up rubber queens.
