I’m thinking more along the lines of suppleness/ plushness comfort of the 650b vs the pick up and speed of the 700c , with the ability to run 50c tyres I’m wondering if there’s much to gain with 650b wheels

Had the split pivot one , one of the bikes I wish I’d not sold. Would definitely buy another but been lured to gravel and bike packing. Still have my toe dipped in the Salsa pond with a lovely Vaya but I am currently building up a Krampus to try a 29er rigid. Great bikes but now very pricey.

Yes I’ve bought the yellow tape and a set of those super p nuts mentioned earlier. Just need to find a cycle shop with a compressor locally.

No idea what super p nuts are I’ll google them.

So my 5:10 sleuth shoes arrived. Seem good quality and really comfortable. I just ordered a pair of HT resin pedals after reading some great reviews.

I’m thinking flats for my Krampus, I do run Candy pedals on my Vaya which I prefer for long rides and climbing.

Great advice re set up will adjust saddle accordingly. Looking forward to not being so rigid especially my knees

Minion for the front and a Chronicle ordered for the rear, so just going to run them on the Spank Oozy 395+ rims once back from the wheel builder.

Does anyone know if the 60tpi Chronicle can be run tubeless or is it only the 120tpi. Also anyone know where to get one?

I’ll just run with the Oozy rims , see how I get on and if all else fails I’ll change them. As the Krampus is a keeper.

I was hoping that by running 40mm external with 35mm internal I would not be isolating myself to narrower trail tyres if I wanted to run them. Looking at the Velocity Dually it’s 39mm internal, is 2mm either side going to make such a phenomenal difference?

Was planning running them on a Spank Oozy 29×40(internal 35mm) rims, I know it says on the Maxxis site 40 internal minimum so will this be ok?

Seem to remember a few years ago there was a trend to run the dhr as a front tyre. Is that still a thing. Although looks like the dhf/chronicle is a good way to go.

Cable discs are absolutely fine I’ve used them on a Cannondale gravel bike, then bought a Salsa Vaya and put on trp/hd brakes which are great and you can upgrade later very reasonably if you need to.

Great cheers I just got a tip to put the reducer in boiling water to expand it a little before tapping onto the bottom of the steerer tube.

That’s what I thought but on closer inspection it’s part of the steerer tube
