Fitted Specialized Roubaix 32mm tyres to my Vaya for mainly B roads, lanes and canal towpaths and they’ve been excellent, fantastic grip especially in the wet and even coped with off road gravel after dropping the psi a little.

Here’s my normal Gravel set up. Tube under seat, snacks and gels and arm warmers in top tube bag and a tool keg under the down tube, I’ve just added a lovely little handle bar bag for my coffee kit.

Run my Krampus slightly differently with an oveja negra superwedgie framebag which still allows me to carry a bottle, holder under down tube for extra water or my cook kit for a coffee.

I suppose it depends on the percentage of on road vs off road , I have to cycle ten to twelve miles to reach off road paths and gravel and did have the resolutes but found them tiresome after that amount of miles. I’ve been searching for a “do it all” alternative and have just ordered a pair of Terreno Dry after reading several positive reviews. Due to arrive in a few days so time will tell.

I tried to purchase an item from France last week and it was refused with a note saying not posting to the United Kingdom, so I messaged back saying I was in Northern Ireland and part of the single market. They replied that it didn’t matter still weren’t willing to post.

I’ve just bought an oveja negra super wedgie bag for my krampus which is superb and still allows me to run with a bottle cage on the seat tube. A bit pricey but great quality.

I’ve run Hutchinson Toro’s on the two Sherpas that I had a few years back and loved them, also like the look of the Vittoria Barzo. Are these overkill for a gravel bike?

Great stuff, I know from experience recovery can be a bummer with sometimes no light at the end of the tunnel. Great to hear your back and what a treat to yourself. Well done and enjoy.

On another thread here they were rumored to be Novatec, why not buy the rim of your choice and a nice set of hubs and give your local wheel builder a shout. I’ve done that for the last twenty years with Hope and DT Swiss hubs and they’ve been faultless you are also supporting local people and Hope’s customer care has been brilliant

I’ve run Bontrager Xr4 all year round on both my hardtail and full Suss bikes never let me down. But I suppose a lot depends on the terrain you ride.

@ daffy that was my original plan but Salsa day the Vaya won’t take 29 x 2.0 but confusingly will take 700c x 50?
