I’ve put resolutes (700×42)on my Vaya the other day for a first time run. Was able to do all the trails at local trail centre that I previously done on my Sherpa without any trouble, comfort and grip were fantastic ( tubeless), and bloody fast. I have enough space in the Vaya frame to run 700×50, these appear to come up true to size.

@easily hopefully my daughter can help more unfortunately her son (our grandson) is disabled so she has difficulty getting here to help. He’s now at a school nearby which allows the daughter to let me out for a break. Aim is to get out once a week either a quick spin on the road or if I can to a local trail centre. The Vaya covers both bases with a wheel change thankfully

Ive missed it so much, a great way to clear my head and get things into perspective.

Mine were byways also but changed to Soma Cazadero which according to reviews were better for grip. I’ve went back to 700c so if you want them they are brand new for £40 posted

No idea about EWS, never ridden it but been going to Restrevor 10 or more years even pre the trail building and it’s awesome. Great variety of trails and stunning scenery on the climbs. I believe there is now an uplifting service. Super restaurants in the nearby village. Check out some of the YouTube videos

Depends as above but had g-ones and gravelkings but then went to Soma Cazadero so good put a set on the son’s bike and bought another set for mine. They were 650b and now for sale as going back to 709c but will be grabbing a pair in 700c x 50 for the new wheels being built

I’ve recently gone from two bikes
A Cannondale Habit lefty and a Caadx to a one “bike to do it all” (well 1 to suit where I ride now) I chose a Salsa Vaya as I love steel and it can run 700×50 tyres. Recently flirted with 650b wheels but sold them to stick with 700c. Plan to run Specialized Roubaix tubeless for fast tarmac touring style riding and if needed can swap to a gravel tyre quite easily.

Seems the consensus of opinion here and on other forums is a 30mm internal rim is ideal

Sounds ok to me tyre pressure not crucial also gives me the option to run a fast road tyre on them for the Vaya if I so choose

Had one, also found it fast but unexciting replaced it with the horse thief which I regret selling it was awesome

Same here, I’d hoped the seatpost size had remained 27.2, I like skinny steel tubes and not sure if it’s the style of bike needing a dropper. But I could be wrong perhaps the consensus is a dropper is needed/wanted by the masses
