Been running WTB Resolutes in 700×42 they have been brilliant for the last year including the winter but as said before it depends where you ride. My Vaya can take 700×50 but I’ve never felt the need to run that size. Would like to try 700×45 when these wear out.
Revelate gas can on top tube and Revelate framebag for additional food and clothing. If it’s to be a full day out in the hills where I’m near no shops or pubs I take a wildcat drybag attached to my Tailfin rack with everything I’ll need.
Didn’t affect my love of the bike but tbh haven’t bought another one since but in reality all brands can have a bit of bad quality control at some time but left a bad taste the way they spoke to me
@superstu glad to hear they’ve improved they (Transition) we’re absolutely shocking with me some years ago when paint fell off my frame after one wash. Was getting no joy via email so rang them directly and to quote them they said.
“The paint falling off didn’t affect the functionality of the frame”. My reply to them on the phone was would he be impressed with the paint falling off his car or would that not affect the functionality of the car. The phone was hung up. Shocking behaviour. Anyhow after some discussion here with a fellow stw’er who knew the legal rights it got sorted via a there UK distributor at the time.
@jblewi cheers for the insight, the two main trail centres near me aren’t too gnarly unless you choose a black run (too old for that) so I can get round on the Vaya on 700×42 Resolutes so think a bike taking 29 x 2.2/2.4 would be great.
Just noticed the updates to the new Pipedream ALICE notably 29×2.4 tyres so an option instead of the cutthroat? Steel which I love, dropper post compatible, carbon fork option and cheaper by a considerable margin.
@13thfloormonk me too. I’m still hankering for a Cutthroat but heading into hospital next week for surgery and selling a house so probably Spring/Summer next year. Just wish their frame only option was more colourful
Decathlon jacket arrived but fit was not great on me , tight around upper arms and shoulders but ok in the torso. So might order Galibier Tempest to see if fit any better or any other suggestions welcome
@SterlingCrispin I do have a Keela Saxon and it’s an excellent jacket but not that packable for a Jersey pocket, I use it when on long gravel/mounts rides in my dakine hotlaps. I’m after something for shorter rides from home which will fit a Jersey pocket. Cheers @morecashthandash for the sizing I’m 44” chest so might need to go to 2XL
Why not sell the Seatpack and run a tailfin S3 with a drybag, it’s more versatile and varied sizes of load can be used plus ability to use cargo cages if you so wish.
Watching this with interest. Ben trying to find an ideal bag for a while. Currently looking at the oveja negra 925 but do like the idea of the bag off the bars to allow more hand positions
