The more I look the more I think it’s the headset now too
It seems difficult to find the fine line between too loose and over tight
It’s a cane creek 40 I keep thinking I’ve missed something on install, the only thing is the crown race which looks seated but comes up when I take the headset apart ; would this little critter be the issue?
It’s hair pulling time
Cables are OK
Headset Installed correctly
Changed over the front wheel just to check and the steering was still the same
I can’t ride for more than a metre no handed without the gyro effect so it’s not the HA
I think it might be a faulty fork straight out of the box, going to borrow a friends to double check :(
Definitely worth it
I had an otb last week at BPW slo mo on bonneyville, landed on my head on a pointy rock – large 4 inch cut in helmet, smashed visor and scrapes to the face part of the full face. I had bruises from the impact on my forehead
Dread to think the result if id been wearing my XC lid
Enter the Dragon is my fav, it follows the line of the old dragon DH course hence the name – the first tabletops are massive and take speed to clear but that delivers you into the woods with plenty of momentum.
Check out Dai hard for more natural slabs and big road gap, the old rock garden has been kept for Zut Alors – lots of fun
If you’re going for a weekend and feel you want to explore there is a great DH trail at Mountain Ash accessible from the top of Gethin too
If you have both a DH and a trail bike take the later as there are only really two trails suitable for the full on DH bikes, besides which all trails can be ridden with a decent FS
I love it tbh but I’m only 20mins up the road. It’s a great mix of purpose built trails and more natural rootsy singletrack
Everything from fast flowy blues where you can jump berms and pump to your hearts content to more techy rocky blacks with more committing features drop offs, road gaps etc
Apparently most of the accidents they’ve had happen on the blues due to speed gained compared to what the average rider is used to in most trail centres
Great to mix it up with a morning of climbing with some cheeky shortcuts and ad hoc uplifts in the afternoon
Really all thats missing is some woodwork, ladders etc but with lots of scope to expand the centre I’m sure this will come!
My Guapo has a Marz 55 CR upfront replaced a fox 36 rc2
They are amazing with the extra 10mm on the fox and smoother too
Tbh they are the best feeling fork I’ve ever had across Fox and Rockshox
Great £ too
You’ll get on the uplift at BPW in the pm even on the ?eekend, they have four buses now
In the am you can ride and push up (a few cheeky shortcuts too – just ask a local)
Or you can session the lower trails
Enjoy
Scrap Afan and spend the day at Cwmcarn the new XC Cafall is amazing and exposes the other side of the valley where the dragon DH used to be . There is also a new DH which you can do as an off shoot of the XC
Combined with the Twrch trail and the improved y myndd DH you have an amazing days riding that caters for all comers uplift or not
Plus it’s closer to BPW for your next days adventure
Only downside is they are common as, on last weeks mid week BPW uplift I was the only rider without one out of 8 bikes on the trailer, felt alone and scared ;)
I picked apples for a month in Northern Italy during the early nineties. The orchards were sprayed with pesticide twice a week which covered the trees completely. My eyes and nose were running constantly and had to wear gloves to pick the fruit
Washing fruit and veg is now second nature!
just moved to tapered steerer, much stiffer and less forward and aft flex; then the fork is 170mm so probably more noticeable than smaller travel offerings
I always wear my FF even when cycling up just stash it on the backpack
90% of the accidents to date at BPW have been on the blues, you can get some good speed up with plenty of places to launch into the trees ;)
One of my favs too
Shirts and shorts are epic
This sounds like bloody private equity firm involvement wanting a quick exit when things go wrong
If only I had a few mill going spare…
Yes want to retain the slackness ideally with the new fork arriving was hoping to get away with a cheap solution to the headset issue I.e new bottom cup
Could not find any new headsets other than Works who never answer emails and gave no phone number and cane creek 180notes
Boxelder this would be perfect but the headtube length is too long mine is 102mm :(
