I thought it was a great movie, it was short but full on, so high paced. I think had the same ammount of riding footage as other movies, it was jsut they cut out all the filler, so there was no long shots of riders getting their bikes out of their trucks, or making coffee or any of the other padding tricks. I also liked how there was a lot less sponsor product placemnt than other movies. Its also their first feature lenght and they ride in it as well as build the trails. Brillant first effort IMO.

Loved the kenny smith riding sequences so fast on that gnarly rock faces, also Steve Smoth section was awesome would have liked that to be twice as long.

Skype helps man, but if you both work 9-5, with the 8 hour delay, it pretty much means you can only talk at weekends.

Sqaumish would be fun terrain for your bike or the LCSR area at the bottom of Seymour. I use to ride my HT their with my girlfriend until her bike got nicked.

North Shore trails are a lot more HT unfriendly than what are frankly groomers in Whistler. the ammount of rock armouring that goes into Shore trails to combat the rain make a HT not a wise choice

When I was living over there, most people that didnt shuttle rode Enduros, Nomads or Slayers. I had a hardtail when I moved there which I had rode everything in Whistler on for 2 years and I could ride most things on the Shore with it, but I was forever fixing my back wheel and it just wasnt enjoyable like it should have been. Went and got a second hand 2010 Enduro and just loved it, made it so much more fun. Trails tend to be of the ride up Forest road and descend straight down type so 6 inch bikes make the most sense to me for that area.

I wouldnt buy over there personally, there is not a lot of choice second hand and you dont want to be waiting to ride because you are still waiting for the right bike to come along. As for new prices are about the same as here taking inti account the exchange rate and once they add the 12% tax then its not worth bothering.

good luck with the long distance releationship thing, I am currently going through it as my GF is still there. Finding it very difficult.

I have an ’10 Enduro which has amazed me at how good it is at climbing and descending. Cornering is where it really delivers, low bb and stiff frame mean it just sticks to a line like no other bike Ive ridden. Wheels were junk though and I had to change the stem and bars as they too were silly flexy for such a capable frame.

New ones come with roval wheels, not sure they are really up to how hard you can ride an Enduro.

Chromag Samurai with a 140-160mm fork will do the job, Perfect trail geometry they got right about 10 years ago and everyone else has just copied it. Handmade in Canada. In the way of these things, I too have a barely used 17.5 frame for sale.

Thanks, hadnt thought of sewing it, may have to ask my Nan to help me with that one.

Oh and 2 of the ripped tyres are Maxxis HR LUST, two are Spesh 2bliss, didnt seem to make much differnce using the proper UST to sidewall life

well the retailer is in Canada so not really practical to deal with them, I contacted the manufacturer and they said to go to hotlines direct but the email address they gave me bounced back

Bedmaker, do you happen to know if you can get a honzo as frame only in the UK?

No, its not the end of the world, and I would maybe accept it at a lower price point, however these to me anyway, are really expensive pedals that people rave about, they replaced a pair of no name pedals that lasted 4 years of pedaling with no perceptible play whatsoever.

Doug, maybe you can enlighten me on how to contact these engineering geniuses as my attempts at contacting using email has resulted in not one reply.

Right, well thats allright then, as long as they are working as designed.

Are they serious, these are £100 pedals and they dont inspire confidence when they squirm under my feet. As I say seriously dissapointing when they are marketed as designed for durability.

Little Tip about coming to BC, BRING CASH

Everything is expensive here, especially bike stuff and that's before you add the 12% tax

Walleater is right, dont just drive through Squamish, some wicked trails and the maps and signs are plenty good enough for you to guide yourself.

I had some on a Bullit and want expecting much to be honest, but they are suprisingly capable and very reliable too. Defo no stiction issues for me

I dont know what spring they ship with but I had to run mine with the compression damping off all the time and even being 90Kg and riding Whistler bike park every day I was never bottoming them out.

No way. I live right next to St Nicks park.

Moving to Canada in a weeks time though.

WHAT. How long has that shop been there??

I had no idea it was there and I must pass it most days!!

Also where is the pump track in Bishops Tach or is it private members only affair?

I found it thicker and harder to manipulate than stuff I had before which was also 3M but bought in Canada, yet despite being thicker it gets damaged easier in use.

It also was slightly discoloured so more noticable when fitted to the bike.

Its not so much I lack the bottle, I can jump OK, I just think my technique needs work. I wonder how much refinement can be done on the jumps at Leith Hill.

I wonder if I would be better going to the Tom Dowie course over at Chicksands

Where in the surrey hills are there trail features that you could do a level 4 course on. I cant think of any decent size jumps or drops that as a level 3 rider I couldnt already manage.

I have a Chromag samurai and love it.

Not sure these models are a fair comparisson though. BFe is more like the chromag stylus as that can be used with 160mm forks and has ISCG tabs.

Samurai is nearly a pound lighter too.

As for price, the samurai is hand built in limited numbers in Canada and this is reflected in the price. I knew I was going to keep this bike forever so I didnt mind paying the extra.

As for toughness, the chromag guys used to race the red bull phsycosis on their samurai's and I dont think there can be any more of a test of strength for a bike. I have also seen people run 66's and totems on them in Whistler.

I think Perimeter went bust last year.

    You can use these GUYS

Or if you are not posh you can use the greyhound. They normally let you take bikes on, although it depends how much cargo the coach is already carrying.

Do Waterproof Shorts lose their waterproofness if you wash them after every ride?

I was told if you use standard detergents on these fabrics it harms the fabric and doesnt retain its waterproofness.

I only ever knock the mud off my waterproof jacket or give it a wipe with a damp sponge.

I have some of these icetoolz DH ones. They look like a screwdriver but are coated in a rubbery plastic and havent marked my rims so far.

Worked fine on 2 Ply Tyres.

I think this is a great idea and good luck but isnt at least some of the point of a pump track is that it takes up hardly any space so you can build one anywhere ie an urban location. That way anyone (including non driving youths) can ride it and just grind out a quick 30 minute session.

Building it in the middle of a quarry so you need to drive to get to it seems like you are missing a trick really.

BC and Alberta cover quite an expanse of land. Maybe you could specify what parts of it you are visiting

I had a dent on my 5 in the exact same place. Mine was a bit bigger and took a whole lot of paint off. It survived a season in Whistler doing Whistler type stuff OK.

I think what you have found is that we only have off road cycling here in england but in BC they do actually have mountain biking which it sounds like probably isnt for you. Maybe you should get into Ice Hockey.

Seriously there are trails of all ability in Lower mainland, for mellow stuff try Lower Seymouour Demonstration Forest or down by UBC there are singletrack trails. Have you tried asking in one of the local bike shops?

Also have you checked out Squamish, probably a lot more technical xc then you are use to but there are tons and tons of singletrack trails there. I would swap with you in a second to be back there.

Ive done this when taking 2 bikes to BC. I put my DH bike in my bike bag and fitted my chromag into my normal luggage. My frame and wheels went in my suitcase, and my forks, bars and drivetrain went into my Rucksack. This was a PITA and i only did it because i was moving out there. I wouldnt do it for a weeks trip.

Can you fly to Chicago? everyone flies there and its not that far away.

Slight Hijak, can all those eskar lovers out there confirm how big the 2.3″ width come up.

I am looking at replacing a 2.35 Maxxis HR with these and but I dont want to go much bigger in width.

I live not faraway in Warwick and I really think there is probably not a worse place to be a mountain biker in the UK than Warwickshire. Sorry to be so negative but i cant imagine you are going to find much interesting in Stratford
