Go for leather boots rather than the welly type. Even with the ballistic nylon inside, the leather is still the best protection.Apart from that the choice is yours. Haix are prob the top bods. I use Elten Aquafell as I find them far more flexable, flippin expensive thou, as are Haix!!

I think for me the simple answer is. The more gravity is on your side, more bounce is better. Although flatter rougher trails are easyer to travel along at speed with more travel. Smooth and uphill trails the weight penalty becomes an issue. And yes 180mm travel is probably over kill but i can still hold ny own against people on more xc/all mountain rigs, But its my bike so obviously it IS the best bike in the world! Even thou its getting a bit old old now and has several extra welds!!!

I enjoy the Surrey Hills on my hardtail. I enjoy them even more on my 176/180mm Patriot. If your happy with the weight penalty on the climbs, your’ll reap the benefits on the desents. As said before by many ‘the best bike in the world is the one your riding’. 8)

I put my worn out square taper/crank combo together with a dollop of chemical metal. It was good for several years. You could even take it apart and re assemble it!

I’ve been running the 50a/42a chunky m on the front and 50a chunky m on the back of my Alpitude for the last week or 3, and have to say I’m very impressed. Grip well on the roots, clear well in the slop. Both tyres weighed around 810gms, about the same as a 2.4 advantage.
There going on the dh rig soon.

I’ll watch the xc if I get the chance/time. I think the main thing that would improve xc and dh visually is more cameras.

Gently prise open the olive a little, pull out the barb.
Poke a length of stiff bendy wire through the swingarm.
Tape some string to the wire, pull it through.
Attatch the string to the hose with a knot and electrical tape, pull through the swingarm.
    Re-assemble brake.
    Works for me. :-)

Glyphosate(round up) does work, but you do need to paint it on when the cut is fresh. you can freshen up the cut by cutting of a thin slice.
Cutting off the re-gen is going to be the most environmentally friendlyand cheepest option. salt, bleach, napalm are not!!!

I’ve been running a revolver rear hub for 5ish yrs now. The only thing I can say against it is that when the freewheel does go, it does so without warning. Leaving you with a push/freewheel back to your car!! They are quiet and cheep and easy to replace the bearings and freewheel.
