Depends on which razor I’m using. Feathers in my Merkur and 7 o’clock yellow in my old Gilette Tech.

I found this out by purchasing a bundle and using them all – some were dreadful! (Treet and Shark to name two)

    +1 on the Turkey crown.

Doesn’t dry out and there is no waste.

You can get a student licence if you have kids (software4students.co.uk or something).

Alternatively, does your employer have a “home use scheme”. Mine does, and I got the full Office 2007 suite for about £14 iirc.

@hora – I posted a reply to this some three pages ago. The cessation of intimacy was not just post childbirth. It started many years before, when we were first married (1990!). The 7 years refers to the last time!

I saw Threads as a young teenager and it scared me silly. I was also convinced that when the Falkands conflict began, the Russians were going to wade in.

Scary times. I had nightmares about Mutual Assured Destruction for years.

Thanks for the heads up OP. I’ll watch this (and the nightmares will begin again :D )

Wow… I think I owe Mrs Weeksy an apology based upon some posts on here.

I thought I was being hard done to !

    This got me thinking…..

(I can’t think of a diplomatic way of asking this.)

Do you chaps “ask” for sex? Does the missus lie back and think of England while you “go at it”? Apologies, I can’t think of a better way of putting it… Maybe my view is a bit too romantic?

If you don’t mind me asking was it a traumatic birth?

Not at all. Ever since we said “I do” it was like a switch was flicked; before that, we used to be at it like rabbits. It was two weeks before we even consumated our marriage.

I do love her and have always worked on the assumption that no relationship is 100% perfect. Some couples argue, fall out, loose trust etc. We don’t have sex. Some of the posts up there about seeking professional intervention have got me thinking…. But could I handle the guilt?? Probably not.

*7yrs without sex. Have you spoken to your partner about this? You obviously aren’t both in agreement.

    Yes. Many, many times.

Really.? I thought blokes just joked about this sort of stuff but 7 years FFS.!!!

    Unfortunately, yes.

I have thought about leaving/playing away many, many times but can’t bring myself to do it. I couldn’t leave the kids (x2).

Hmmmm…. As you’re tinkering with the forum, please could we have a “back to forum” button/url too? I’d find that much more useful than “share”

Do you know if it is worth trying to sell my existing salamander shower pump?

    freddyg

Cannyj. I know it is not possible to run a shower pump on a combi system… That’s why we took it out!

Mains pressure is okay, but not fantastic.

    I have a Salamander pump that we’ve just removed – I think it’s around 3 or 4 years old.

It was pretty good; quiet and plenty powerful enough for us. We removed it as we have just replaced the boiler with a combi, so (allegedly) don’t need it. I miss my power shower. :-|

I haven’t watched any episodes of both Breaking Bad and The Wire.

After watching every single episode of “Lost”, I decided I’d never commit myself to a long-running series again.

    Should I reconsider?

+1 crankboy – My son wanted a new car for Christmas, so I bought all three of the TK Maxx ones! I couldn’t decide on which two, so bought them all – bargain price too.

A big help for me too.

Made me realise I had once more spiralled into a dark and lonely place. I’ve been to see the GP, she’s put me back on my meds and I’ve had a really good talk with a PWP (Psychological Well-being Practitioner) – with a view to having a go at CBT.

I’m similar to St Colin in that talking to people is extremely difficult. The thought of having to make a phone call or speak to someone face to face (even my friends!!) can leave me in a right state of anxiety.

Being able to anonymously get things off my chest or even read about other folk having experiences similar to mine is an enormous relief – I am not alone and I am not the only one.

All the best everyone. Stay well.

I’m after the 4.3 update for my kids Samsung tablets too. It’s not available yet without rooting.

Clubber’s link above is very tempting (for myself). The only reluctance is regarding the on-board memory of 4GB. If you could get Android 4.2 on it (maybe 4.2.2) then you can load apps onto the SD card. You can’t do that on 4.1.

    Have you updated it Clubber?

Get them a cheapo tablet. Don’t bother with the kids specific ones, they’re bobbins and will be little use in 12 months time.

There are some decent offers if you look around – e.g. the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7″ can be had for around £100 and is a really nice piece of kit.

I think it’s more a ‘little problem’ that leads to poor aim and hence defeat in the toilet standing department

Not really, as a urinal is right in front of you and very hard to miss; unless the “little fellow” has a kink in it

Young MasterG was around 22 – 23 months and just decided he’d had enough of nappies. We has one or two minor accidents when he (we) just weren’t fast enough. But her was dry (day AND night) from that point on – and yes, we kept a potty in his bedroom.

Little MissG, on the other hand, was day-time dry at 3. She is now 6 and still wears “PJ pants” at night and is wet most nights. Me and MrsG are at a loss.

As for sitting down for a pee – what’s the big problem? I always sit for a pee at home as I don’t have a urinal. It’s just a toilet after-all.

I guess he’s referring to the non-estate, i.e. the hatchback. Minor point though.

I understand Northwind’s defence of the Focus as he owns one and has paid good money for it. For me though, statements like “You could just about park an Octavia in the boot of my Focus” are silly. Especially as the Focus boot is almost half the capacity. actually, mleh….

    This:

Matchbox superfast tracks. Had them running all over the place. Brilliant stuff. I’m going to get some from my son :-)

Okay, so the Focus has tardis-like properties. Cool.

    For clarity:

Focus Estate: 476 to 1502 litres
Octavia Estate: 610 to 1740 litres.

Never let facts get in the way of a good argument, eh? ;-)

Edit: And looking at the review on “Honest John” and “Car buyer”. The big complaint about the Focus is that the boot space on the cuttent model is reduced by 50 litres on the previous model. In fact, “Car Buyer” marks that as the only bad thing about it!

You could just about park an Octavia in the boot of my Focus. Also marks off for the lip on the boot

    Interesting.

Especially as the Focus boot is 317 litres compared to the Octavia’s 590. That’s almost double. In fact, the focus boot is only 17 litres more than a Fiesta! :-D

Edit: These figures are for the hatchback only. The estate makes for similar reading.

Eeven the Octavia’s boot’s unimpressive mind.

Really? Of all the cars I looked at of that size, it was the biggest by a mile!

I remember as a kid I was given books, lego and jigsaws as gifts. Isn’t this just an evolution of these?

Having a piece of technology does not immediately render your child unable to go outside. It is up to you, as a parent, to allow appropriate use. My kids both have one; their first choice for entertainment is always to be outside, playing with their friends.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch at Asda for £99 at the moment and Argos are doing them for £109 plus £20 of vouchers. I wasn’t over happy either but that’s what my kids wanted (5 & 9).

I bought two of these for my kids last Christmas (aged 5 & 7 at the time). Their best Christmas present ever according to them.

They use them for playing games, watching movies from the NAS and on the move (loaded on to the SD card), and to help with their homework. Originally, they had both asked for a Nintendo DS buit these are miles better; they will last longer, are more flexible and games cost between ‘nowt and pennies.

I was a little miffed about the inability to move apps to the SD card, however this was fixed with a recent software update.

Highly recommended (and for £99 in ASDA, I’m tempted to get myself one!!)

EDIT: Forgot to say that we monitor the amount of screen-time and don’t let them use them upstairs. Also limit the number of charges per week.

@Prawny. While downselecting cars before ordering the vRS, I had a Golf. That had the e-brake and despite putting 400+ miles on it over a weekend, I just couldn’t get used to it. Bloody awful thing.

You dream on Warton. The bairns are worth every penny. :D

Prawny, you don’t mention school shoes? My lad managed to scuff a pair while we were in the shop trying them on!!
