Been out once on 4.5 years. Two young kids, MrsG's Post natal depression and a long commute mean trail time has been non-existent.

I see my SC Superlight chained to the wall of the garage every single morning. It used to upset me, now I can't see it's pimpyness because of all the dust :(

I took our two to RAF Waddington this weekend (they're aged 3 and 4.5). They both have the Peltor kids ear defenders and wore them for most of the day without much of an issue. They were essential for both the F16 and the Typhoons.

They both loved the show – although the little'un slept through the Red Arrows!

Higgo, I think that you'll probably find that the lower league supporters are not the glory chasing folk that you think they are – basking (or attempting to) in the glow of players that they don't get to see on a weekly basis, other than on MOTD. More that they are the real followers of football. The people with a real and genuine love for the game. Please don't patronize them.

Does he really need 20+TBs of storage?

You can put together an off the shelf NAS with 8 to 10TB for under a grand. You can do it for even less if you build your own fileserver.

Can you get to a local shop for some Ibuprofen ?

You can alternate this with the co-codamol* (contains paracetamol) every two hours. Therefore take your co-codamol, 2 hours later take ibuprofen, 2 hrs later co-codamol – repeat to pain-free bliss.

    * I am not a doctor, anything I say could be complete b*llocks.

Similar problem here, I commute by motorbike and am currently sat in my leathers. Mmmm. Nice.

Although I can guarantee that by 3pm when the crappy aircon goes off, it'll start to get distinctly unpleasant.

TDMs are good bikes. My mate (6'4") has one and loves it.

ZR7-s' are very good 'first big bikes' too. They're very reasonably priced as they're not particularly fashionable. I had one for 18 months and put over 30k on it. It never missed a beat.

Unfortunately, our Internet access proxy at work is routed via Germany, so can't get it. I've also tried tvcatchup on my Android phone…. Vodafone have blocked that one too

I'm stuck with Radio 5 – I suppose I'll get more work done though.

During race week, the mountain section closes at 9.30, the rest of the course around 10. It remains closed until after the last race and any practice runs are done. Can be up to 8 hours I think.

He's been airlifted to hospital; he has chest injuries but is conscious. Phew.

Does he wear the new Dainese Airbag leathers?

    Couscous?

A wrap with grilled chicken, Apple, celery and walnuts. Parmesan too if you fancy a waldorf thingy.

Failing that, I find a nice steak pie does the trick.

Fair point – although Bent did manage to score against Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Spurs…. So it kind of implies that the comment ("neither has what it takes to score at that level") doesn't apply to him. Although you're right about Heskey – 3 prem goals for a striker? Pffft…

Think you're spot on about SWP though. Is scarily fast and will really put the sh!ts up some defences. Easily contained when up against quality though.

    That's a little harsh isn't it MF?

3rd top scorer in the prem (behind Drogba and Rooney) isn't too shabby is it? Especially as he's been playing in a rubbish team. How would he have done with some quality players around him?

    freddyg

mmmm.. I thought Bent did pretty well t'other day.

Agree that Heskey's strength is that he feeds Rooney well, but that still limits you to one striker. Bent can do all that, and get goals himself. It's a shame he hasn't had more of an opportunity over the last few months to try an build up some kind of understanding.

EDIT: looks like it's a moot point anyway according to the BBC/Sky rumours

    freddyg

I'd much rather he took Bent than Heskey. Bent can do everything Heskey does and scores goals too. 25 goals playing for a rubbish team is not to be sniffed at.

….Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery…..

Aaaargh! I fully discharge mine every day (kyakk, kyakk) and fully recharge over night, I thought this was the 'done thing'. There's no mention of it in the manual… oh. Hang on, I didn't read the manual. D'oh!

    Zirtek transformed my summers.

As a kid I tried all sorts; literaly every hayfever/allergy thing that was available and none of it worked. Several years ago, my GP put me on Zirtek – a new offering at the time. It took a few weeks to start making a difference, but when it did, it meant I could actually GO OUTSIDE from spring through to late summer while simultaneously being able to see and breathe!!

Now, I just buy a job lot of generic Cetrizine and start taking it in late March/early April. I look forward to summer instead of dreading it.

Another thing to think about is the data package. The desire comes with a 500MB FUP allowance (about to change) and the Nexus comes with a 1GB cap.

Check out the vodafone forums to see a great number of mightily p*ssed of Desire owners (self included).

Any reason why you're after the Schuberth in particular?

    freddyg
    Free Member

I nearly bought one a couple of years ago. I wanted a really quiet lid, I wear plugs anyway but still struggled with noise. Schuberth are the quietness lids there are. I tried loads on, Shoei, AGV, Arai and Schuberth. I bought an Arai in the end.

If money was no object, I'd have bought both the Arai and Schuberth. The latter being for winter use only. The amount of insulation, I assume, meant that it was really hot. No good for me in summer. I haven't regretted buying the Arai.

Don't just buy a lid based on brand. The fit is the most important thing. It can be the best lid in the world, but if it doesn't fit you may as well wear a pan.

Take it back and request a replacement. If you got it from VF online, then take it to one of their high street outlets. They should do a straight swap for you.

I had an MRI* scan on my ankle, on Friday

3 months, 3 x-rays, 2 A&E doctors and 2 soft tissue consultants later and they're still not sure what is wrong with it other than "it still doesn't look right". Still swollen (although much better) and still painful, especially when I've been on my feet a bit. Eventual diagnosis was a Grade 2 to 3 sprain. (Original ugly feet thread here)

*and just how bloody noisy are they?!?!

Another happy Desire user here too.

My only complaint is that I can't get it to work with my bluetooth headset (on my motorbike helmet – Cardo Scala Q2) for hands free dialling. Not a big deal though, I can still receive calls.

    Reasonably seriously…

BSc Hons, Computer Science, late 80's

Currently a Tech Architect for a large outsourcing company. Spent the last 20 +years working through the ranks.

Strangely, I also looked into tree surgery a few years ago as a route away form the IT industry. What better things in life than climbing trees and chainsaws? Apart from them both at the same time…. and getting paid for it! 8)

Couldn't afford to do it though (mortgage, wife, kids etc)

Sorry HM. I (we?) do not mean to mock, but having been through Uni and then spent the last 20+ years in the workplace, give me Uni any day.
