Just got home after being there since Friday. Had a great time, saw some great racing and met some great people. Have already booked the ferry for next year :-)

Yup. Whole albums here too. Isn’t that the way they’re supposed to be listened to?

Fingers crossed for Guy. I hope he get something.

I’m pleased it’s busier this year; we’ve been over for the last few years – last year was definitely the quietest.

I wish you hadn’t mentioned this – I’m going over on Friday for a week. I’ve been trying not to get excited! Now I’ve just done a little excited wee in my pants

They used to only sell direct, although my have started to use resellers.

Bees make honey was very good but, unfortunately, disappeared a few years ago. The Laguna used to be the best Indian Restaurant – just off Maid Marion way.

Harts was also very good – although I haven’t been for a couple of years. If you don’t have a budget, you could always try Hotel des Clos; Sat Baines’ place.

What’s your budget? World Service is my personal favourite – especially if your looking for something intimate.

    +1 for Hood.

Unlike Draggin’ (at the time of purchase) Hood jeans are fully lined to below the knee. Very happy with mine.

Thanks HH. There are a few suppliers of Feathers on e-bay that offer them at reasonable prices.

Awwww… I wanted one of those before Christmas. Couldn’t find one so, in the end, MrsG bought me a standard Progress. I’m impressed with it but curious as to how much of an improvement this provides over the standard jobbie.

BTW – My mixed supply of blades is about spent (£14 worth has lasted 9 months!) – any recommendations for the Progress? I’ve found that what were crap in my Gillette Tech are not neccessarily so in the Progress and vice versa – with the exception of the Dorco’s; I may as well have used a kitchen knife.

We’ve got a pair that will play movies from a USB stick or DVD – I think they’re Nextbase SD47 somethings.

We bought them as a pair from ebay from a chap that reconditions them. They were about £100 and are really very good. You can get the same movie on both or use them independently.

When we first used them with headphones, MrsG and I didn’t know what to do – the silence was deafening!

EDIT: Just followed the URL in sniff’s post and those are the very beasties!

Will it be done as a spin class or just pootling along?

If it’s a pootle, then it’ll be a doddle. If it’s a proper class, then have an iron lung and some crutches on-hand.

Was it stones or mashed potato?

A standard wash cycle should take less than a couple of hours, he should have been back by now. Has he drowned? He’s drowned hasn’t he? Yes, I suspect that’s it.

I haven’t heard of the MAtrix 2’s before, but a quick google revealed favourable reviews. These chaps reviews are generally very good and seem to be objective: Web bike world Don’t worry about the Oxtar references. They were re-branded as TCX a couple of years ago.

Earplugs are a must – it’s not the noise of the bike, it’s windnoise through your lid. If I envisage a ride getting above 40mph, then I put my plugs in – and as a Blackbird rider, that kind of means all rides :-)

Daytona boots have been mentioned, I would +1 these if your budget will stretch that far (there is a German supplier on e-bay who will ship to the UK – he’s very competitive). If not, then the TCX goretex ones get rave reviews.

That explains why you use it more often, not why you use a third of a roll on each visit.

To combat this, I think there should be a big Izal re-marketing campaign. Excessive use of Izal will reasult in lettuce shreddage. Razor sharp that stuff.

An old, now departed, Aunt of mine used to stock this stuff – I found it would spread any residue around rather than removing it – slicing the starfish to bits in the process. Nasty stuff.

Actually, she was probably correct. One of my more pleasurable evacuations was in Thailand on a squat-jobbie (<- see what I did there?). I just couldn’t bring myself to perform the hand&water clean up process – I had to use a tissue (multi-folded, obviously).

EDIT: thinking about it, I’d probably be okay with the hand wipe method now. We’ve had children since then and consequently had more poo on my hands than I ever thought possible.

is there another method that needs very little paper, a military method?

I don’t think it’s a military method, but two squares of quality paper, folded in half (to prevent your fingers going through). Wipe, inspect, fold in half. Wipe, inspect, fold in half again. Wipe, inspect, discard. If necessary, get another two squares, fold and repeat. 8)

Oh! Following on from the chap who has a post-bob-shower, I forgot to mention the lad I went to poly with who had to get completely naked to crimp one off. Even in public conveniences. :?:

Might I suggest that sir considers the side upon which sir, ah, dresses, and then approach from the opposing side? This may require changing hands, but then, little bathroom pleasures often do.

Left handed wipeage? That’s a recipe for disaster.

My little lad is 5 and getting to grips with the whole self-hoop-declaggification-process. We regularly find him with stripes up his back when he gets home from school :|

    f2b here too….

I’m surprised that the question of paper quantity and foldage/scrunch has not been brought up yet. Along with some of our species insistence on emptying, almost, an entire roll into the bog; leaving it for the inspection of subsequent users.

I tend to just scrape the major lumps off and light the thing. The bars sit in the flames for 20 mins before anyfood gets put on them. It’s enough to kill most nasties I would have thought?

For the money, it’s worth a punt.

Where in East Lancs? (town will do :-) ). I work in the Lakes during the week and commute back to the East Mids at the weekend – via M61/60/62. I could drop it off en-route.

EDIT: logging off now, my e-mail is in my profile 8)

    Hi Cougar.

I’ve had a 450D for a couple of years now. I’d been an enthusiastic amateur sticking to 35mm for 20ish years and resisted the transition to DSLR for financial reasons – since I’ve had the 450D, though, I’ve wondered why I waited so long! MrsG bought me the 50mm prime linked in your OP at Christmas. It’s an excellent lens; thoroughly recommended.

Ref the cheap tripod you linked, I have a similarly cheap tripod that you can have. I bought it years ago (thinking I should have one) and have used it only a handful of times. Where are you located?

I’ve just spoken to Talkmobile, referenced above, regarding a new HTC Wildfire/Desire contract for MrsG (she keeps nicking mine!).

I was intrigued by their claim regarding ‘Unlimited mobile internet data included’. Most other suppliers make this statement but with caveats around a fair usage policy of 500MB/1GB per month. They told me that there is not such restriction with them. Also their service provider is Vodafone, so pretty decent coverage :-)

    Them!!

When watched as a kid, it was pant-wettingly scary.

I remember there being a load of these old black & white b-movies on the telly when I was a kid. I used to avidly watch them with my Dad (who had seen them at the pictures when he was a youth!). Others I remember were ‘The day the Earth stood still’, ‘The Beast With Five Fingers’ and another one about a bloke who came back from a space mission and started to turn into a cactus!

I just mentioned the drum kit to MrsG…. by the look on her face, we won’t be getting her one of those.

WCA, I like the cut of your gib.

Becky, you’re probably right and I guess, that’ll probably be the right thing to do. It’s just that, well, she’s my little girl…

Peppa pig is a good shout too.

Have always insisted my two wear their helmets on their bikes and trikes. After an incident two weeks ago, I now insist on helmets while on their scooters too. 5.5 year old boy, scooter, face and brick wall are not a good combo. Lots of tears, blood and swelling. Helmets compulsory now.

    It’s not discrimination at all!

There’s a whole sizeable section of the travel market that is for adults/couples only.

By the way, I have two kids under 5. They’re pretty well behaved (IMHO) but when they’re being noisy, boisterous or just playing, why shouldn’t people be allowed to choose to not be around them?
