I recently dug my Lumicycles out of the garage too. Put the battery on charge only to find that the cells became so hot, I couldn’t pick them up with bare hands! I guess they’re borked :|

EDIT: mine are the old NiMH jobbies.

Oooooh! We haven’t had a decent shaving thread for ages.

It was as a result is a similar thread a couple of years ago that I bought my first DE razor. I haven’t looked back since. Shaving rash all gone, closer and smoother, wife prefers it and I’ve saved a fortune. What’s not to like? :-)

a £500 stylus is a bit OTT is it not?

hmmmm….. some might say that a £500 bike is too much. After all, you can get one for £79.

EDIT: Sorry. But I’d be gutted if that happened to my turntable and I’ve only got a £120 cartridge.

    Buy one: http://www.vitcas.com/outdoor-living

    Or make one:

    1. Collect Clay (3 buckets approx) and mix with builders sand till you have a good sticky clay / sand mix
    2. On a solid surface (like a concrete slab) make a dome of sand big enough to be able to get a fire going inside and also to allow room for bread / pizza etc…
    3. cover the outside of the dome in damp newspaper then start building the clay around the dome of sand.
    4. Mark and cut out the enterance to the oven and wait 24 hours for the clay to harden.
    5. Remove the sand from inside the oven and get a small fire going, building it up over an hour or so.
    6. To cook simply move the burning embers to the sides to give you space in the middle to cook on..

Not sure where you get the idea that Council jobs have good pay and brilliant pension – unless you’re looking at being the head honcho.

What sort of council role were you thinking off?

The samsung 10.1 is available in PC world. However, the 32GB non-3G Xoom is now available for £330!

What about the Samsung 10.1 jobbie?

MrsG is interested in a tablet (she is a complete technophobe with no Apple/Android bias) so we went to an outlet that stocked the lot. She spent over an hour fiddling with them all and declared the Samsung her favourite with an Asus transformer a close second. She just didn’t ‘like’ the iPad.

I need to lose 10 lbs.

Try the soup/chicken recipe above but add the chicken just before you serve; the resulting dodgy guts will shift the 10lbs in a day or so.

Did you know you can access it on-line? http://mail.virgin.net This gives you a google-mail interface to it. From there you can do all sorts of tidying

    Now I’m really confused!

According to the Samknows website, based upon my number and postcode, there are packages promising download speeds up to 40Mbps (BT Infinity). However, when I look at the page for my exchange there is no LLU operator presence and only ADSL / ADSL max available.

I was planning on doing that Jeff, until I got to the bottom of the letter where they stated that they would make leaving as simple as possible, if that was what I wanted to do!

I haven’t had any problems either, just a bit cheesed off with a 35% increase.

Haven’t tried moneysupermarket, I thought I’d ask the all-knowing STW first.

    Thanks for the pointers folks.

Interesting Matt, ta. Performance with virgin hasn’t really been an issue – we’re stuck with a copper ADSL connection so its never going to be quick.

…..why wouldn’t you get an Ipad?

    Interesting.

I took MrsG to have a look/play with a few different tablets vith a view to a purchase. She has no particular bias but she just didn’t like the ipad. Her favourites were the eee thing and the new Samsung 10.1.

I’ve got a T plate with service history and 85k I’m about to put up for sale. Had it the last 9 years, one previous owner. I’m selling it via I’ve got a part funded company car and can’t afford to keep it. It’s been boring reliable but very practical. Was excellent over the last couple of winters too. My email is in my profile if you want more info.

    Hi DD. It’s an E90.

Gray, my missus would love one, but I doubt you’d take an old CRV and Seat Ibiza in part exchange :-)

DD is your kit compatible with a 3 series? If so, I may be interested.

Interesting – me & MrsG were wondering how to sell our old CRV. EBay may just do the trick.

Keith and the Girl[/url] are quite good. Their pod casts basically take the form of a radio style chat show and can go on for a couple of hours. They can be a bit rude too.

You can use the lens with modern Canon kit so that is certainly sellable. The body? Dunno – anyone want to buy and old Minolta X300?

PSA: I’m not sure if you’re interested, but I’ve just popped into my local Aldi (who do a reasonable selection of beers (Jennings @99p a bottle anyone?)) and they had some 5cm deep jobbies in the sale for £6.99. Worth a punt?? :?:

+1 on the Alpkit jobbies. I have an Alpkit Fat Airic and it was a revelation. I had previously used foam roll mats and air beds.

I’m saying that if you have kids, you will need to take time off every now and then, so [/i]I don’t see why one strike day seems as such a disaster for working parents.

… because it is coming out of my pocket??

You could always come to our village school to teach my kids – my missus has had to take a day of unpaid leave as her office wouldn’t allow her to take the time as holiday. I’m working 220 miles away so couldn’t cover it either. :|

    Hello

After going through a similar process in November of last year I decided upon an Islabike Benin for young MasterG.

My main reasoning for this was the resale value. Although the bikes are quite expensive to start with (I think I paid £220), second hand ones were being snapped up at £180+ on e-bay.

I’ve got an Arko stick (£1.50), a Palmolive stick (£0.50) and a tub of Taylors of Bond St Cream (£8.00). The Arko is my favourite.

    Hifi – Yes
    Fixie – No
Roast own beans – No (but do own a Gaggia Classic)
Hungarian Wheat Beer – No; I’ll drink ‘owt. :D
