Yes, yes and eyebrows and ears and nostrils. And all at the same time. The kids think it’s hilarious, my wife thinks I’m a freak :-/

    Eggs mashed in a cup

    2x soft boiled eggs
1x slice of white (cheap and nasty) buttered (thickly spread) bread
    salt and black pepper

    Cut the bread into squares
Put the squares into a mug
Shell and tip the soft boiled eggs into the mug
    Add salt and pepper
Mix it up with a spoon
Turn on the telly to Pebble Mill at One
    Eat
    Feel better.

I’ve got a few bits I am intending to put on ebay this weekend. A Rotel RA820AX amp and some PC 2.1 speakers (Harman Kardon HK395). Any good?

Had a ’98 mk1 petrol for 11 years. Was an excellent vehicle. Cavernous and comfortable. I was very sad when we sold it but it had to go as it was just too thirsty for the miles I was doing (20k / year @ 28 to 30mpg).

They seem to have improved even further with the later models too. When I get rid of my company car, I would seriously consider another (diesel).

Is it really too much to ask to listen to a dj on a music station who cares about music.

+1. They should never have removed Phil Jupitus.

MrsG has the M8 and I have the M9. Both are really good pieces of kit. Quality materials (better than my last samsung galaxy s4 – made of cheese) and nice interface.

If I was to order them again, I would have the M8 instead of the M9. The power-button being in the middle of the right hand side is a PITA. For our uses, we haven’t noticed any difference in handset performance between the two – but we don’t play games, use them for MP3s or video.

As Michael W Twitty, a culinary historian, explains:

‘Barbecue is a form of cultural power and is intensely political, with a culture of rules like no other American culinary tradition: sauce or no sauce; which kind of sauce; chopped or not chopped; whole animal or just ribs or shoulders. And, if America is about people creating new worlds based on rebellion against oppression and slavery, then barbecue is the ideal dish: it was made by enslaved Africans with inspiration and contributions from Native Americans struggling to maintain their independence.’

If anything, both in etymology and culinary technique, barbecue is as African as it is Native American and European, though enslaved Africans have largely been erased from the modern story of American barbecue. At best, our ancestors are seen as mindless cooking machines who prepared the meat under strict white supervision, if at all; at worst, barbecue was something done “for” the enslaved, as if they were being introduced to a novel treat.’

    Oh, just **** off….

Just got myself an HTC One M9 – its really nice and not too pricey. I upgraded my wife’s old samsung s3 to an HTC One M8 at the same time. Cheaper and just as good. Wish I’d saved myself the extra few ££’s.

How old is the car? I had this in my mk3 VRS.

Called the Lease company who sent the AA. The chap took the car for a test drive and confirmed the problem. Bonnet up, airbox off and there, sitting on the gearbox, was a forked clip. The clip was a retention clip from the gear selection cable (apparently they are made of cheese). Re-tensioned and replaced and all is well in the world.

No idea about using abroad, but I use google maps all the time. The latest update sees it give my chosen route an all clear or alternative if there’s a problem. Traffic updates are real time and alternative routes are offered during the journey if a faster route is available.

Potdog. Where are you located? I know of someone just about to put a rental house on the market in Nottingham if it’s any use?

I can confirm the M62 ones do enforce the limit (well, flash at least) when the signs are not lit.

I cross the M62 twice a week, every week. Late on a Sunday night with cruise set to 77 I get through without a problem. People overtaking me have been flashed.

My Canon multifunction printer does negative scanning (Pixma MP990). The odd time I’ve used it for this, the results have been impressive. Was considerably more than £50 but does lots of other things too – including shop quality photo prints.

Bialetti mokka pot and Gaggia classic here. Really don’t get on with the pot; no matter how low a heat I have it on, it’s always bitter and nasty – maybe it’s the grind? I use the same pre-ground coffee in my Gaggia and it’s lovely.

Interesting. I came out Green 23% (Plaid 17%) Lib Dem 13% (SNP 12%) then Labour 10%.

It’s a shame we don’t have a green candidate (in our guaranteed conservative seat :( )

As you are a party of 11 in fancy dress, your options may be limited as many establishments refuse entry for stag do’s/single sex parties.

What sort of place are you looking for, pubs? bars? clubs?

Have done the ebay £5 kit three times now (I’m a clumsy oaf!) and each time there hasn’t been a problem. Very easy to do, just take your time and follow a youtube guide.

My seven year old daughter informed me the other day that I was going to be a great-granddad…

Puzzled, I asked how. She explained that one of her teddies was going to have a baby and, as she was it’s mother, that she would be a granny and I would be a great-granddad.

I foolishly asked how the teddie got the baby in there and was told that “she had done sex” with one of her brother’s teddies.

Further enquiries enlightened me further – “doing sex” is just a case of getting naked and french kissing.

This is interesting as I have a similar problem with a very similar set up. My nearest transmitter is Waltham – how do I find out which channel I should tune my RF2 to?

+1 for the Blackbird (mine’s a 1996 carbed jobbie). almost 70k miles and the engine still purrs – even with absolute minimal maintenance.

I’ve used it for all day touring, weeks away (with hard luggage) and even a couple of track days – putting a few power rangers to shame in the process. Great bike.

    Spooky!

My daughter (7years old) is very keen on crafty type stuff and fashion – always sketching out little designs for outfits and dresses. I was in Aldi on Monday and spotted the Singer machine mentioned above (£150 ish) but also a smaller mini machine for around £15.

I mentioned it to my Wife as an idea for Christmas, she thought it was a good idea but preferred the idea of the JL Mini jobbie (£50).

Interesting. I wonder how long it will be before this reaches the UK.

I’ve been with “I Believe in Miraces” for four years now. Excellent feedback from clients, extremely high “utilisation” (could only be higher if I didn’t take my holidays) and not a single payrise in 4 years. Not a penny.

I’m not particularly feeling their love at the moment.

Regarding driving across the pavement, I thought you could only drive over a pavement at a dropped kerb?

I may have just imagined that, however.

I really, really, really wanted a chopper. Came downstairs on Christmas morning and was presented with a Chipper instead. It was Orange.

My cousin (a “large boned” lass) wrecked it. I’d only had it a month :-(

    Just read Trail-rat’s post.

I’d forgotten about the bureaucracy. Jeeez. The work I was doing was originally supposed to take two months. It took best part of a year because of this.

    …. and 52C with 100% humidity.
