    Ha ha!
Last time I went down there it was the middle of winter and there was a great risk of being washed down stream! (Needless to say I found a different route.)

    ‘sup Rocketdog. 🙂

I was over the Wyre on Sunday for the first time in ages, making the most of the sunshine :D. Was busy at the centre, but no one on the trails really.
It’s riding pretty well I reckon – fair bit of forestry work going / gone on though as you say – lot of trails covered in chopped off branches.

Didn’t head that way, but is the bridge back up now over Dowels, where the bridleway heads away from the main fireroad junction by the rocky outcrop and signpost, down parallel to the brook towards Bewdley?
Just thinking ahead for my next ride…

When I stayed at Keswick we walked in Whinlatter Forest, but the bike trails weren’t built then. There’s a reasonable amount of height there, so bags of potential I’d say. I’ll have to see. Definitely on the agenda next trip up.

Uve got a 1 in 52 chance of getting it wrong Ian….

    😆

Most likely first week in August. 😕

I did the Borrowdale Bash and a loop taking in Blencathra and Skiddaw on my own on my first visit to the Lakes.
Navigation with the O.S. map was as simple as anywhere I’ve ridden.

I’d like to check out the man-made trails too, but proper mountains are the order of the day up there. It’s a long drive for a lot of people and there are forestry trails all over the country.

Hmmm, maybe…we camped at Ashurst in the New Forest one year. Nice round there and interesting coast too.
    Thanks.

Has anybody EVER jammed a chain between a tire and chainstay? That must take some doing (impossible probably)…

    Yep. 😳

The site in Beddgelert also called Cae Du is nice. Not so far West though…

I’ve bonked so hard I couldn’t even be arsed to change gear, let alone rise to any technical challenge!

Just riding a rigid ss at the moment (and strangely becoming converted to the idea,) – but that’s because my main bike’s buggered. 😥

It’s a black run – it should have a least one root, half a rock and a downslope that’s steeper than a swimming pool floor. The rest of the place has every right to be as dull as it wants.

LOL! I’d agree that it would benefit from spicing up the sections between the jumps. There’s nothing to make you think twice until you’re at the speed > skill threshold!

I think it depends on how you tackle the trails there and what kind of rider you are.

The black route is indeed very easy at a comfortable pace, but if I let it go a bit too much, I’m much more at risk of binning it big time there, than anywhere else at a Welsh trail centre. (Not including the DH stuff at Cwmcarn obviously!)

If you’re not used to man-made jumps and how to handle them (which I’m not and I’m sure many predominantly xc riders aren’t)) you could come a serious cropper without too much effort if you push yourself beyond your limits.

I’m much more in my element flying across rocks n’ stuff or in tight singletrack, cuz that’s what I’m used to – anything approaching a bmx track or dirt jumps is a different kettle of fish and I proceed with much more caution.
In that sense it poses a technical challenge.

That said, I loved Llandegla as a bit of a change and it does encourage you to develop your jumping skills. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with blasting full pelt down wider, bermed trails as opposed to tight switchbacks every now and then either. 😀

    I don’t like any. 😛

I hadn’t used to worry about using lightweight xc kit for general trail riding, (I’m pretty smooth and not into jumping or big drops) but having just snapped an top-flight xc crank arm in half (c/set side) on the road(!) I’m not quite so confident as I was…

Oh yeah can I add Elsiha Cuthbert

    Yeah she is well-fit. (Innit?)

I’ve never got on with flat pedals.
SPDs all the way here. The main reason is that I don’t feel safe unless I’m firmly attached to the bike. The power difference is less important to me.

The only instance I would prefer to be on flatties is when riding skinny “shore” type obstacles and might have to bail, but I ride that sort of stuff so rarely it’s not worth considering.

Nearest riding of any note is Cannock Chase for me. 35mins in the car.

Nothing from the door except canal towpaths.
If I fancy peddaling a fair few road miles there and back (not often!) I can do Clent Hills.

I’m happy with one offroad bike (geared HT) for everything, but need a cheap commuter also, so I don’t wreck it riding to work in all weathers and not being arsed to clean it.

(That said, I’m using a rigid ss for everything at the moment cuz my HT needs new forks.)

Wouldn’t want to have to choose what bike to take on a ride – I’d end up never going out!

    a) No

    b) Within seconds they’re either covered in mud or sweat and I can no longer see through them. Wiping them smears and makes matters worse, so I do without.

    c) Yes – but nothing serious.

    d) 95% Sometimes I wear dark glasses when it’s proper sunny, but they always end up in my back pocket as soon as they steam up too much or sweat gets on them.

The thing I like about favourite music threads, is the massive diversity!
One person’s all-time fave band / album ever – and you’ve never heard of them / it!

Variety is the spice n’ all that! 😀

MF – I second Black Sunday, I havent listened to the Hill for ages……

I still love that album!(their first one was even better.)

Think they went off the boil after that though – not keen on the metal crossover and R&B sounds creeping in…
I saw them live a few times in their heyday – superb!

There’s no way on earth I could choose one album. Some of the most memorable, life changing milestones over the years are:

Mike Oldfield – Incantations & Ommadawn
    Slayer – reign In Blood
    Metallica – Master Of Puppets
RHCP – Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic
    Hallucinogen – Twisted
    Shpongle – Are You Shpongled?
    Plastikman – Muzik
    Eat Static – Abduction
Sven Vath – The Harlequin, The Robot & The Ballet Dancer

Oops, that’s a top ten, soz!

Not sure about the single, but I think

Adam and The Ants – Kings Of The Wild Frontier was probably the first album.

Had mine a couple of weeks now and can’t fault it for the money.
(Actually, I can – the lock-on grips are sh!te. Ditch immediately!)
The ride is spot on. Great climber, sharp handling through the twisties – sweet.
Really good fun to ride and it looks the business.

I couldn’t stand the mouthy, ignorant, racist cow – but I wouldn’t wish cancer on anybody.
I’ve seen enough of it in my own family. 😥
