Don’t think I’ve hear “he’s in all kinds of trouble,” yet, but there’s plenty of time.

…that might be Phil though. 😕

I’m sure I heard him say it, but maybe in one of the live shows at the weekend. 🙄

I’ve had a Fortitude SS for a little while now.
    I like it a lot! 😀

No – the back side of Jacob’s, up from Hayfield.

I think the conditions underwheel change a lot too and affect how much you can ride. I’ve ridden most of it once, but also on another occasion really struggled and didn’t manage quite a few sections.

I’ll bouncing around to 3 days (& nights) of repetitive beats, at Cosmo Festival in Taunton. 😀

    Interesting…
I buy milk in litres not pints.
When I worked in a cycle shop in the 90s, roadbikes were still measured in inches, so the cm thing is quite recent. A lot of mtbs are now small / med / large, doing away with numerical systems altogether and (I suppose) making sizing easier to understand for everybody.

    I don’t like inconsistencies – I think it’s the OCD kicking in! 😉

    I’ve still got a Cove Stiffee 69er.
Stiffees obviously aren’t rare, but this is no.26 of only 69 complete bikes made.

Yeah. I’ve no particular interest in planes, but I went along with my wife and teenage daughter recently and it’s much better than I expected. Loads to see and it’s a good history lesson.

We camped in the Forest Of Dean the week before Easter…
    Snowed a bit. 😯

I’ve just bought a Genesis Fortitude SS and am very happy with it so far.
I wouldn’t overlook it just because of the rigid forks, unless you really, really must have suspension. It does give a much smoother ride than my 26″ wheel rigid SS.

My fave all-condition tyre. I’m happy running them f&r, but often just on the front with a rear Crossmark or Medusa for dry trails / heavy mud.

I don’t think anyone could say their frame has totally eliminated chainsuck for triple chainsets – apart from E-stay bikes and there aren’t too many of those around these days…
…even then you could still suffer chainsuck, it just wouldn’t damage the chainstay!

Does HONC course mean fast and furious?

I’m guessing, it means a mix of bridleways, by-ways, road and forest tracks. (From the Hell Of The North Cotswolds event.)
I’ve checked out the route maps (out of interest, I’m at a music festival that day…) and they would seem to bear that out.

Not sure where I stand on this one.
My bro. and a couple of mates had hours of fun with air-rifles when we were youg, shooting targets, toy soldiers cans etc.
We were never tempted to shoot at any animals or certainly people though.
There are just some wrong’uns about, that’ll find another way to cause harm if one method is removed. I don’t know if banning air-guns would make a big difference long term.
Like all the fuss about survival knives a while back. If you feel the need to stab someone and can’t get hold of a Rambo special, what’s to stop you using a big kitchen knife?

I haven’t stayed in one for many years, but you used to have to take just a sleeping bag liner.

I enjoy a good climb! Can’t get my head round pushing up just to ride down! 😕

Klein Rascal – Cracked at headtube / downtube weld. Replaced no problem.
Klein Pulse Pro – Cracked at seat tube / BB weld. Fair enough, it was about 10 years old.
Several Raleigh Dyna-Tech road and Mtb frames. (Chainstays & downtube at gear lever bosses.)

I too remember the Grundig in Plymouth in ’92 and watching John Tomac and co in action on the Pipeline. What a day out that was.

    …and me! Awesome!

I’ve got 32:20 at the moment for the North Yorkshir Moors, it’s still too much on the climbs and too spinny on the flats though

That’s the thing I found odd coming from a 26″ SS. The slow speed stuff feels HARD, but you can fly along at high speed with no effort!
The characteristics of the bigger wheel are much more noticable than I expected.
I guess it’ll be MTFU then, eh JoB? 😀

Tbh, I’ve only just got the bike, so I need to spend some time on it, but the gearing felt strange – almost like it had 2 gears.

32:18 on the SS 29er here, for everything, including the Dyfi Enduro, if you change gear on a SS to suit a different terrain you’ve bought the wrong bike

I see the sense in that, but I live in the mountain-devoid Midlands and 99% of my riding is Cannock or The Wyre Forest, so a big ride in proper hills comes as a bit of a shock to the system! I’m sure I’m not alone in the occasional gearing down.

Rigid SS saves an awful lot of time and money on upkeep.

Great rear tyre, fast and I’ve had good results in everything but heavy mud. I wouldn’t put one on the front, though.

I may have misinterpreted this, but that reads like it is ok for locals to ride the areas where mtbing is forbidden, but nobody else should.

You could read it that way, but I’ll wager it’s more to do with the fairly small number of riders using these trails trying to keep under the radar and not having the place over-run with bikes, so that people are forced to take action.

It’s a nice vid, but I’m also of the opinion that it’s a bit irresponsible filming and naming such obviously out of bounds riding.
There’s cheek (trails of dubious legality) and there’s outright cheek and I think notice shouldn’t be drawn to riding in areas where there are loads of “NO BIKES” signs.
Not saying I’ve never ridden that trail, but I wouldn’t advertise it in public… 😉

I remember wnen I was a lad, I was at Nant Yr Arian walking with my folks and a jet fighter came up the valley and over our heads that fast and low we threw ourselves on the floor before we knew what was happening! Scared the crap out of us!

    Best of luck fella.
I have first hand knowledge of the delights of standing water on the Dyfi. Expect to be an even shade of grey from head to toe at the end! 😀

Wish I was doing it now, but I haven’t got the miles in to make it anything other than a total sufferfest. 😉

…or any gears at the moment.

It was in the weatherproofness that the appeal lay, mate!
You doing the Dyfi this year? My bro. is in and I’m heading over to see him at some point.
