Thanks molgrips and fooman, knowing 25 mph should be more than enough for my old man.

Trying to get my garage heater working so I can tinker.

What about riding in Thetford trail centre?

    Could always road ride too.

    @Cheers_drive
did you used to ride the Chilli rides in the Cheesy riders?

I just remember the same name when I rode with Jim B.

I’m selling my mtbs to do more CX and road, it’s just to flat unless you travel.

Thanks for the advice joemmo, I don’t think his SRAM Rival rear mech can go larger than his 11-42 casette.

Seen those Suntour cassettes with 50+?!

taxi25, I’ve seen and measured his cadence max to 110 and cruise at 80-90.
I don’t want to him injuring himself with 130 revs, he’s not 20 years old anymore.

Well at least you’re sort of near Cambridge…

Ok the riding was great in Bristol.

How long are you up here for?

    Thanks Chainreaction Cycles!

Delivered a nice new Hope ring.

Hope the current chainring bolts on the X-Sync 44T fit!

    Tinkering tomorrow.

Anybody know the best way of estimating chain length on a x1 unless it’s the same method as double or triple chain sets.

Ironically started to rain after Jeremy arrived.

Looking at the above comments, I don’t think Labour are not safe. It’s still very close and divided.

Just have to stop some local developers making a climbing wall centre in the middle of nature reserve…

    Great video.

GoPro 7 Black? Which resolution do you use and any tips on battery usage?

About to experiment with bar and chest mounts.

What are you using cassette/chainring molgrips?

I climb a steep zig zag muddy track
11-42 x 44T. While it was a blast, I used the excuse to wait for everyone to catch up while I caught my breath!

Just be careful and check out reviews.

Specky4eyes has been known to give out the wrong prescription, poorly fitted glass and moan about bad reviews online.

Mu view is thats a big shock to the immune system and would be better spaced out.

    Are you serious?

Edit: well he posted a link to a journal.

I’ll have a read in the morning.

If I quoted from a journal more than 5 years old as my main piece of source material for an essay let alone a study or proposal, my Prof would tear it in half.

    No it’s a 110 BCD road/CX crank.

It’s a few grams heavier but much cheaper than Rival. Simple bolt on.

    Luckily it’s one piece forge.

Maybe get a Rival crank to match the Rival 1 group-set would be nice later but keeping costs down at the moment.

Thanks for the offer douglas365 and links to superstar joe&ned. I might use them for myself on my Rival cranks. Maybe a 40.

I ended up ordering the Hope retention CX 5 bolt 110bcd 38T from CRC for my old man as he Hope headsets, seat lamp and wheels/hubs. Sponsorship?

Closer inspection of my Dad’s crank is that he’s using an earlier Apex/s350-1 with the arm and spider forged into one unit. It should be a simple swap of X-Sync 1 if the width of the chainrings are equal…

Luckily the bolts clear the arm unless you have the newer Apex or Rival/Force X-sync-2 spyder’.

There are some guides out there for 1x and using the small sprocket threaded through the mech too but not sure about your shock.

Well I voted labour and so did my old man. Meh.

I was in my oily scruffs from bike chain cleaning and my Dad was smart casually dressed when we went to vote and back to repairs.

The people from the Conservative party gave me a sneer lol and chatted to my Dad. I’m usually the smart casual dressed guy but it was funny to see their faces!

The MEP turnout was p-poor and yet today is the first time I’ve ever had to queue as it was so busy.

    Will be an interesting outcome.

Thanks for that zilog6128. I’m ordering this now https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/hope-retainer-cx-ring/rp-prod147698

110 BCD, 5 bolt and better order a spare chainring bolt too thanks.

120rpm? I’m 42 and I can only do that for a sprint lol.

restlessness we’re all different and so is the local trails.

He’s light, his CX is 9-10.5kg, he is diabetic, high blood pressure, weak heart and doesn’t have the health or power he once had. Never was a big rider. Just rode to work and some 12 mile trails with me on my recovery rides. Rode 30 miles on his road bike with me over 2.5 hrs.

He has got stamina since I have trained him over 3 years and I get him to do climbs on his turbo trainer.

He’s recovered from prostate cancer so I can’t expect him to sprint for a while.

Well I think the BP win, will either encourage more wins or rally up people against them across the country.

Labour are losing out to other smaller party’s after losing trust.

Voting labour. Hides under a rock.

Oh and I have put on Schwalbe G CX tyres 38mm so that has added to his wheel motion.

Ok going to order a Hope CX 38T. Father’s Day sorted.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

I did use a gear calculator just now being rusty but he 90rpm he’s not going to do.

He’s running a rival setup. Guess I’ll need to shorten the chain?

I’m running QR on the rear (it’s my Dad’s bike Plug 5 steel with 135mm OLD).

The axel is almost the same size as the internal size of the lock ring by 0.25mm according to my vernier callipers.

Once he destroys this bike I’ll convert it to Thru-Axels using 12/15 adapters.

    Thanks vincienup

I’ll look at my Hub again tomorrow and see if the freehub will pull off and check if it’s pall/spline and whether if the cap seal is installed or on mount.

I’m sure if I can pull off the cap, I can pull off the freehub.

I’ll report back in 48 hrs if only to help others.

    Update:

I fitted a standard Shimano center lock ring to the front.

The rear, I used an oversize 15/20mm lock ring. Literally no gap with the standard center lock splines pushing on the axel.

Thanks for the advice. Glad I ordered a spare over size lock ring. Fitted in seconds.

If you watched Sky then you should pay if you had a legal contract.

Contact Sky, ask them if you owe them anything and for what.

If they say nothing, get it in writing or email. Show bailiff.

I went to Oz and rented a bike in Hunter Valley. It was utter utter shite; boat handling, gears that eventually change and heavy uphill. I felt I was sitting on perch rather than part of the bike. A gate with wheels!

To be fair it was a blast downhill. Made me appreciate modern tech. And after jogging 12 miles to the nearest town, I appreciated that bike the next day!
