BTW if you overtighten the bleed nipple the washers will be crushed and may make it leak worse? Go steady 🙂

I would’ve thought it’s most likely to be the seals, although it could also be leaking around the banjo/hose joint. Can’t think of any other other parts that would deteriorate to cause a leak.

    +1

Does sound like the piston seals are shot?

+1 second opinion (in house) if your questions are not being answered? Sorry I was not scaremongering I am surprised at their lack of communication given 2 pints every 2-3 days? have they ever mentioned the term End Stage Myelodysplasia?

Blimey 2 units every 2 days – that’s a fair loss of erythrocytes – she hasn’t got a haemolytic disease? – I would have thought a myelodysplastic disease would cause her blood parameters to drop more slowly?

She hasn’t got any internal bleeding?

The real question is how can anyone ride for 100 miles on a road without dying of boredom?

I only get bored of the pain 😉

    Oh – ouch

I agree that set-up is not great – wanted to build it up into a winter/aduax/commuter all rounder – the stem and saddle suck!

    Better? 😉

This race was 55 miles but only started the garmin ont he 3rd lap (10 miles in)

Fair enough [now feels sl. inferior] 😉

Average speed is all relative so don’t get hung up on it. The more you ride, the fitter you become and the faster you get.

+1 – just ride more frequently and esp on your own as I think it makes you more able to deal with the pain 😉 I am only talking from experience – I don’t class myself as a racer or really a Roadie – just someone who like to get fitter 🙂

True – Can’t justify a power meter as that prob would be the best way?

Yeh I guess that’s about a similar pace and climbing over a bit more distance Tricky?

So 30kmph over 50-60Km with 3300 ft of climbing? BTW I dont have anyone to ride with so I am always training and riding on my own pretty much even in races – as below drafting really helps 🙂

    ahh OK – maybe I’ll have a play 🙂

I usually average about 17mph on my local 50Km training ride with the same amount of climbing if that helps?

Screen grabber is Fireshot (IE and Firefox) plugin (free)

I have a cadence sensor on the chain stay using a Garmin Edge 800 🙂

TBH I think the first 5 mins on that sort of ride is more warming up so its harder to get going after you have stopped – I find it quite hard sometimes on the way home as my energy is low where as a 2 hours road ride seem easier as its all in one trip and after 30mins warming up it feels much easier if that makes sense. Frequency is most often more beneficial than time?

These were my stats from my most recent Sportive – Wiggle Cornwall Tor 100Km. I am not willy waving, I am fit but not uber fit so FYI 🙂

I got some cheap [relatively speaking in a sale] Dura-ace CL’s from my old worn out Aksiums – they feel stiffer and reduce road buzz. The uptake at the rear is far far better and they are ++ lighter. However it does not make me a better rider! It will not make you fitter 😉

Maxxis FTW on a rear tyre – I have 355 with Larsen TT and fantastic – I have a thin walled front and it slashed on the back but has been great up front? Also depends on terrain – is it flinty?
