Have you got the crank cap tool?

If not you can use some fine nose pliers splayed out?

The cap basically takes up the slack so the axle/cranks don’t slop around (in laymans terms) 🙂

I would recommend a fast rolling tyre like the Maxxis Larsen TT – good all rounder apart from sticky mud 🙂

Going to look at one at the local Panasonic shop today for the very same reason 🙂 BTW the new Lumix compacts have very good image quality and 16x optical zooms at 1/2 the price 🙂

Local 2 hr training ride around devon:

    Time:02:04:46
    Distance:30.11 mi
    Elevation Gain:856 m
    Avg Moving Speed:15.0 mph

I don’t think its just down to the total climbing it is also the gradients which get your legs surely?

So a new tapered steerer and larger diam down tube, lighter frame with different carbon weave at joints, new shock with Kashima is not different. Yeah sure is the same geom, essentially the same frame but with small changes! I am looking for one with a taper so that’s why I am asking the question 🙄

I am keeping my options open David and for the money there is not much in it!

I do wonder if I talk in a foreign language as the answers I get to my questions don’t correlate? 😉

Its for local trail riding (Dartmoor) and some endurance riding i.e. Transwales & one day marathons/sportives type 🙂 I have a Five which is nice but over biked for most local trails and I have a hard tail for out and out racing style and winter biking 🙂

Does look nice as well 🙂

I had this dilemma a while ago and got some Dura ace carbon clinchers and they are lovely – very happy – 8 months and still very very smooth and shiny 🙂 and more importantly as true as when I bought them 🙂

good point Drac – I guess the only other thing is that the box is 100% recyclable rather than the bubble wrapped jiffys?

And I just realised I opened it like a muppet! 😉

I see that CRC HAVE updated the description and now have taken out the Kashima description 🙂

How else do you think CRC, Merlin, Wiggle get there prices so low compared to your local bike shop.

I’m not that naive but due to their description I did actually believe that these were excess sold on full retail product! But yes as I also said above if its too good to be true it prob is but there you go 🙂

Update: asked for £70 in vouchers and they have agreed (I quoted getting other OEM forks from another site for comparison) – trouble is CRC are not official retailers of Fox forks so I doubt they would get them from another Fox retailer? – they did say I could send them back and they would pick them up (which I guess IS their obligation). I did still want them even as they don’t have the Kashima uppers as they are a bargain – now with cashback and the vouchers I got them for £400 so am contented 🙂
