Mine lasted 3 years and my mates lasted 2 – depends on how much muddy riding you do I guess?

But as above I agree does it need it just after 1 year?

The Alpine and Five have the same bearing servicing so this might help?

Its fine – just use a rubber hammer and cloth on the frame welds and dont over tighten the cap bolts or the clamp bolts. And get some copperslip.

No I have heard good things but never had a pair myself – thought I would take a punt at that price 🙂

Sorry I meant too late as in someone else just posted it – work for me – you add TT97 code in when you get to the basket.

I just got 2 pairs of the Altura Semidry Shorts and 2 ladies summit shorts not because I like wearing womens stuff but I like the shorts and the size 12 fit me well and they are much cheaper than the mens ones 😉

I used to use rim strips but as I had 355 rims recently I went for valves – the new std valves seated very well – I did not tape around the hole but used a Stanley to create a clean cut – not issues here?

No they are for anything – if you want one get one – I like them as I don’t have to wack the SFN further down the tube and fit another if I have a short steerer bolt, or it doesn’t bite properly…. But SFN do their job most of the time, they are light and cheap!

OMG what a relentless course – managed to do a 53 min lap but blowing out my arse – I learn’t I am not race fit ATM – nice technical descents which I loved (best bits) but it killed me – we were 11th out of 54 in the male team 24 🙂

Not willy waving but I can get mine setup from scratch in say 15 mins – 2 hours seems a long time – is it a new build or an old one and the hanger is very slightly off? I had a very sl. bent hanger and I thought it would be OK after I bent it back – I even bought a new mech – couldn’t get it indexed for the life of me so got a new hanger and hey presto 5 mins later perfect indexing – you shifter OK?

My road commuter has just gone through its chain in 9 months and they def last longer (as they dont get so muddy or as much torque) so I would say that an average used MTB chain esp in muddy condition prob won’t last more than 6 months?

What I use when I can’t remove the chain with a quick link.

Cleaning and using lube regularly will increase the length of wear however I would be more concerned with the longevity of the chain set – if you can eak more time out of the chain set by replacing the chain then all the better. Some very cheap chains will wear quickly – what chains are you using?

Oh bloomin eck – the end cap pulls the non-drive cranks onto the axle splines and then the pinch bolts then tighten the crank arm onto the spines!

Ahh so SRAM are telling porkies then? I have never used the 10spd SRAM links as they say they are not re-usable but looks like they are? Maybe too tight to take off by hand so they calls that as non-reusable?

The missing links are reusable 🙂

LOL – sorry uplink – posted the wrong piccy 😉

The SRAM powerlinks “golds” as above are reusable as WW says but not the 10spd ones 🙁
