I still see them as lumps of polystyrene, admittedly very much prettier, but still…

Yeh But Crikey I believe that that high-impact polystyrene, of which the softer stuff packs most of the electronic equiment we buy and fridges etc, must to something when it fractures when you crash ?

I’m a vet specialising in pathology. I look at biopsies and cells from dogs and cats mostly to tell people what is wrong with their pets so the vet can treat them effectively. Same as medical pathologists do for humans. And before anyone thinks otherwise I do not work in research industry!

its mostly dogs statistically, BigDummy, but the Helmets made for cats are not very effective ;) LOL – I laugh at my own joke Ho Ho Ha Ha

Well I am a Consultant (animal) Pathologist – Just was wondering about your qualification to make the statement

I see a number of head injuries at work, in 10 years I’ve seen 2 cyclists, and god knows how many falls down stairs, trips over cats, slips on ice, and motor car related head injuries.

    ;)

Crikey are you an A&E consultant or a (road) sweeper like your profile says?

I remain to be convinced of the amazing protective powers of an inch of polystyrene.

I remain to be convinced about the amazing protective powers of a exploding bag of gas inside a big rubber condom that is the car airbag?

Any problem, therefore on the flip side, that he doesn’t wear a helmet – he’s bothered to get a high vis jacket – poss “borrowed” from work? I agree high vis jackets are good but in summer, in the day – any advantage?

Hmmmmm………… I’ll still be wearing my helmet after I have cracked 2 of them and several of my friends have had off’s on their bikes and smashed theirs to pieces – one hitting a woman who stepped out infront of them – don’t forget about the pedestrians who only uses their ears instead of their eyes – thats one situation where a helmet prevents brain inujuries (low velocity impacts !)

Yup – sorry its a top swing – sorry didn’t realise that was where it “wouldn’t fit” – yup bottom swing, bottom pull – I got one of those off my old marin – I think its 34.9 bottom pull bottom swing – got 2 old LX ones you can haev for very little? PM me if your interested – both in good nick ;)

well its a a multi fit front mech – I would think therefore you mean it the collar by which it clamps onto the frame is the wrong size – measure the circumference of the tube and that will give you the size – you may have to buy some convertors for inside the collar if its too big?

    foxyrider

Well I think the Marin FRS are all bottom pull – also you would need the appropriate seat tube diameter which should be 34.9? – you’ll have to measure it with a tape measure to be sure – the 2002 East Peak had a seat tube of 30.0 – very odd old size? So perhaps the front mach bracket should be less thn 34.9mm? Anyone else agree/disagree?

Sorry fenner – missed that. You will have to let the air out the left side – have you got a high pressure shock pump – if not you’ll need one. On most shock pumps they have a release button to let air out when connected to the shrader valve. On the left of the shock there is a blue star cap. undo that and there is a shrader valve under it. Connect your shock pump and measure the pressure – You will need to set the right sag anyway when your on the bike. Let all the air out. Then you can compress the fork most of the way down and therefore get a fair estimate of the travel you’ve got – obviously your travel will be less than 150mm as there is always about 10-25 mm of upper that will not be part of the travel so if its 150 then they must be around 140mm-130mm. Then you just pump the preload back up to the right pressure for your weight- download the 07 shock manual HERE – I had a thought though – perhaps they have been serviced my mojo and new decals put on?

Well your not going to know unless you can measure the Stanchion length (gold/silver metal part of the fork upper) and compare it to what is known or phone/email mojo? Looks like a very long travel form to me – I got 140mm talas’s at home and they look longer than that to me?

    foxyrider

cant you measure them before letting the air out of the preload chamber – compress them and measure the travel?

dont squeeze the pistols themselves as they are basically bakerlite and you’ll crack them (past experience ;) ) I was given a tip from hope – use an old tyre lever in them if you have good pads int hem :)

I agree with all the above having 2 sets of wheel with hope hubs (one set 3 yrs old and still going VERY strong)!
