juicy 3s have been excellent for me. high power with a 180 or bigger disc and reasonable weight for stupidly low prices. I've got 2 or 3 sets, and a 5 and have never had a moments problem, a mate has the same and has had constant leakage issues. im much heavier than him. very odd

my 3s both came like this. have you adjusted the lever reach grub screws? unless you have small hands you can adjust the lever rest position further out and get a normal bite point lever position.

ive never seen an 80mm x4 for sale but they do list one on their X4 sizes page so in theory you may be able to get one with a bit of "we can order it for you" type shenanigans.

very interested to hear how this gets on with heat re Snaps' comment but am going to consider some riveted and heat pasted fin surface to aid cooling i think as its such a neat conversion.

Chucky have you tried it next to a normal halogen lump 20w for comparison?

re the X5 lady, we have one of those around here too, quite funny to watch but i think youre right, lights wouldnt help much with that sort of thing. on my sadly underused commuter i stuck loads of that 3m black sheet which reflects silver, and on my helmet too in stripes. you cant really see it in daylight and should help sommat

Thomson have said they think it looks like anodising conductor markings but to send it back if im concerned about splits. am arranging the return as the top two pics almost show what look a lot like cracks to me. they can certainly be felt with a finger nail and as anodising is supposed to be non existent-ly thin i'm not sure its simply a gap in anodising. all four marks can be felt as well as seen. anyways top marks to Thomson for their speedy initial response.
