cheers brant, can a slack-set be used as a straight headset without adjusting the angle at all? in conjunction with another lower i mean? expensive way to avoid using spacers i know.

P’raps this is a new standard 🙂 44mm both external, bearings further apart, and long people get to use less spacers 🙂

yeah i definitely cant find an option off the shelf, hmm

i should add – it’s not quite all an aesthetic thing, i often wonder about the fact that the bearing is sat well down the steerer allowing the steerer to flex where a longer head tube and bearings further apart and nearer the stem will be more rigid.

Agree re the SLXs, i demoed a bike with them the other day and nearly crashed on the carpark scoot-about as the slx are sooooo on or off. mind bogglingly strong, but with very very little inbetween, they feel as good as my Formula RX1 at full yank but controlling the power was really tricky with the slx. i like the lever and style but wouldnt buy over Hopes or Formulas, or even my old Juicys.

Im definitely in the ‘loving the looks’ group, and fwiw ALL bikes in medium and orange will look better than the same bike in black and Large 🙂

I agree people can get a bit rude on ST but that’s what this place ‘is’ more and more – see the comments on the new POWA mudguard ; 59 pounds[/url] for another example, its a shame really.

cheers, not sure how but ive ended up with FS for deep filth and a HT for damp conditions.

Hows the head angle? looks on the steeper side of slack for an AM bike which is going to end up ramming into hidden rocks in sludge.

Most artwork is doubleish in size to compensate for the extra res.

resolution change between the new one and previous is night and day, similar to the difference between a iphone 3G and an iphone 4, but bigger, and with better colour management. and the newer one is a bit thicker…

mine is 16G and i use home sharing to access my whole itunes lib including vids. my iphone is 32G so that contains the stuff id need away from home.

really? i assumed the length of the BB spanner was an indication that it needed to be quite tight, nothing daft, just sensitive feeling when you’d reached the end, and a tweak on.

unless youre talking about the preload cap?

i was surprised just how much welly it took on an old 36 pair. suppose its an interference fit with teh rods in the end of the legs

am just about to do the same i think, its such a pita when its not split why do they make em solid? surely there must be a reason? maybe its cheaper to produce

Oh, and don’t go poking a finger inside the Seat tube when it arrives. “oh yeah feel the smoothness” ARGH! A giant splinter of carbonium in my finger from the seat clamp cut out. Luckily it came out in one go it was a massive long thing.

yes its ace. ive got a red and black gloss one and love the looks despite nearly barfing out my nose the first time i saw a pic of one. definately better in real life. very very fast, and a lot of fun. chainsuck – assume that’s a joke from the old steel 456 misunderstanding days? i have ‘dropped’ the chain, on the first ride, before id fitted an inner tube on the chainstay, and can confirm the gloss finish does chip!

running 150 revs on it and about to try some talas 36. it really encourages daft riding and sometimes the revs feel a bit limp on that bike, or at least the way the bike makes you ride, forces you to think a lot about what you’re doing to the fork!. am expecting the talas 36 to be just too long and heavy though.

hub on my fulcrum red zones was near silent, when i attempted to replicate this on other bikes xtr seemed to be the consensus. i like the sound of the hopes but riding a silent wheel is great

    cheers Drain.

Tinap – yep you’re right i suppose if its body fluids that have stopped pads sticking, i was hoping that Giro had special glue on their specific pads. I’ll try pads on a part which wouldnt have been affected by the sweat and drool.

argh, just seen this: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/HEGISKY/giro_skyline_helmet which means i only have my environmental scruples to deal with!

id say they have made it obsolete, if i couldn’t get my car fixed because a part – the simplest in the car – wasn’t available, id be pretty cross. They obviously still have sticky pads in their manufacturing process, so why not make them available?

I’ve given it a few gentle cleans with a bit of washing up stuff, baby wipes (alcohol based) but the finish on the helmet just seems like teflon to any pads i can find off the shelf. I’ve emailed Ay-Up as they sell velcro dots which they say are super sticky but i expect that applies to helmet exteriors.

It’s about 3 years old but as its a night riding helmet (got tired of fiddling with the Lumicycle helmet mount) it gets only a third of the total riding hours.

🙂 i dont go to the pub any more, my head hurts too much afterwards 🙂

hard to see how steep it is but hollowed steps (wooden at that) make me cringe. the 2nd pic ride em no probs but id need my armour to contemplate the top ones 🙂

i didnt like it and changed back to the sky+

sky box has a clean interface wheras the tivo was cluttered and full of stuff i didnt need to see. it has really great functions but if you have very young kids theyll get lost in the menus when Sky is easier to handle.

my SD CRT telly couldnt get a good picture out of the tIVO either but has amazing images with the Sky+

    i wouldn’t cancel sky until you’re sure.

Hi, yeah I’d noticed this too, I would probably cut a ring of plasterboard and fix it in the original hole, skim over etc

But am I right in thinking an r80 fitting can’t be had as a fire rated model? Can’t find any anyway!
