3 days before i disgrace myself, less if its raining as my spidey super sense can feel the trails dissolving

does your clamp appear to have some flex in it when you rock the saddle back and forth too? as if one bolt at least has a short spring washer under it?

techincally it works, i wouldn’t trust it though as an adapter at least ties things together a bit more. superstar for adapters now for reasonable money

might be cheaper to get a slightly taller new front tyre? i’m not a roadie so have no idea if such a thing exists but its bound to be cheaper (id hope!)

Could be Legionaries disease in the water that had leaked past the seals, sitting there, mixing, mutating, churning, developing, a mini warm wet and dirty environment constantly topped up with diluted dog poo.

ah yes, nice idea, so this literally the same as two drives or two partitions in effect, you install the OS on the SSD and then save the rest onto the HD? what backup software do you use? i use carbon copy cloner but my mind does not compute backing up the two, suppose each drive gets its own backup then?

cheers mboy yes the XT is tempting but ive read too many horror stories for mac use, something about drive firmware causing major corruptions and it possibly being fixed on the new 750gb version, but im a bit nervous for that reason. the 320 that came with my mbp is a seagate momentus and i cant hear it over the idling fans so ive got fussy 🙂

nah the laptop is the main computer, don’t fancy the external drive thing except for backups really.

mines a 2011 516 and its downright bonkers, rides lighter than it is but planted, yet flies very easily. my only dislike is the super low rear pivots make really narrow nadgery trails worrisome, seems a fair comprise though for what you get from them. dropper post seems to suit the character very well as it pedals so well you benefit a lot from raising the post.

wow thats impressive, shame it had to be so short, they spent more time talking about sexism than the helmet. really clever though,

if you hit a rock (or even log hard enough) it’ll bend your teeth sideways, a chain is only going to prevent some of that. plus a rock impact on a chain feels to me like a cruel thing to put it through and may contribute to a link failure? ideally i would use a taco bash as its small and light but frame warranties dont often cover tab breakages due to heavily smacked Tacos and the tabs are often only lightly tacked on to prevent further frame damage from forces transmitted directly up from the taco.

i toyed with it and discovered it can cause issues with incremental backup software, then the price put me off

well ive been using the new clutch tension thingy xt mech and havent heard a single chain noise so can verify it seems to be doing a decent job. im still using a silent guide which is now the noisiest thing on the bike… however id never go without at least a bash as id rather be smacking that on rocks than my chain and chainring.

without a clutchy thingy, hmm i suspect youd be stopping often to fit chain, and possibly bending a chainring when you clamber rocks or just hit em!

so in summary, get a clutchy wotsit mech, and at least a bash to catch rare errant chains / bash things

You’re actually refilling the damper? Not just adding the leg lube on the damper side?

apparently it subsides as its usually the hairs curling back at ya, as they get longer its less irritating. the point at which this happens seems to vary and ive never reached that point within 3 weeks . Movember mustache was getting comfyish just before it got shaved off

loving my reverb, not had a moments trouble with it (apart from over tightening my QR) not tried any others but if you can get a stealth hose exit version for your bike then i reckon you couldn’t go far wrong at the moment 🙂

Great pics but it’s just a bit of mud and iirc at least a quarter of the year my trails are at least as bad, its not that deep or claggy it’s just mud. I’d rather be riding in it than trying to camp there that’s for sure

what size discs are you all using? usually 185 or so for me.

Got Formula RX on one bike which is somewhere between the SLX and and Juicys on my other bike in terms of modulation and outright power.

To be honest after another ‘enjoyable’ session trying to get pads in and out of the juicys im tempted to ebay them and go for XT and hope i get used to the power delivery! (actually, did the adjustment on the XT have any bearing on modulation over the SLX?)

out of interest, can you get clobbered by royal mail for charges when stuff comes from rose bikes or b1kecomp0nents. de ? got stung a couple of times from the US and it’s put me right off

TINAS nicer! and below another mental price threshold, although tricky to find without the m786 code darn it!

excellent! im probably going to leave a bash on as im not too sure about a taco bash ruining the frame in a big impact, but its good to know the thing is working as well as i hope. any more to add? did you jinx it?!

Nice pics metalheart, medium as ever looks ace. Mine would be L and in the flesh the black looked better in that size I think. Currently debating the rocket or an Alu nomad

…but not a John Smiths can, tried that yesterday and it’s 0.2mm, you need .35 ideally but i’d settle for .3 if i could get it. more beer research required. also i need a longer shim than usual so im into novelty beers right now (hic)
