No – I love CRC – its all part of the fun sniffing out bargains.

infact without CRC/Merlin and Wiggle – I would be considerably more richer than I am.

this is the one I'm liking for Julys treat

£750 for the whole bike – bargain – considering a Blur LT2 with Pikes on costs £3250!

and before anyone says it – I can tell you that VPP doesn't prevent pedal induced bob – my Lt2 bobs like a proflex beast

lefty's rock – i put 2500 miles on a tpc 140 max without any servicing and it still works like new – the front large bearing has been replaced recently though -dead easy to drift out and refit

my CF dale Rush is cracked half way up 't seat tube:

    lord knows how that happened?

but I aye put off, personally speaking I think the advantage of Cf is wasted on Full sus, in a hardtail yes it makes sense, but in FS its just for posing.

I shall be keeping a close eye on this one when I start to use it in anger!

your divisions CSP contact details for Brisle

    http://www.safersouthglos.org.uk/Crime/

They can also help by issuing UV post code marking pens to all bike shops in the area!

also the Bobby van should carry a stock of selecta DNA to issue!!!

and aswell as immobilse get all your individual components marked up with Selecta DNA. this way if the bike gets split up – there is a chance that you might get some of it back.

I have got dots on all parts except the chain/skeweres abd grips!

its expensive – About £50 for a domestic kit – but you Local Community Safety Partnership team are able to buy them in very cheap £12 a pack and can either sell them on to you at that cost -or just give them to you!

my local team issues them FOC if you have been burgled or if you neighbours have been burgled or if you have valuable bikes that might be burgled!

    http://www.swindon-csp.org.uk/

All Counties and Boroughs have a safety partnership's – they just arn't all as superb as Swindons.

You can also get immobilise bike stickers with an id that you can register.

I have never bothered to measure the travel on my RL100 RLC 120 or Talas – they all feel superb compared to what I have had in the past:

    Pace RC31
    Indy SL

dont shave your legs like your face – you will end up with foliculitis – just trim the hair to “crew cut” length – no skin problems and faster drying times too

If you use a non tubeless tire, well, thats like stepping on a SPD with you wellies and wondering why they wont engage!

If you had a flint slice puncture with a huge slash in your tire – ust wont prevent this- on the plus side you wont get any snake bites and you wont even know if you have a thorn/nail/screw in your tire until you clean the bike.

Done properly UST beats tubes anyday – I fill mine with nitrogen as well now, comepletely leak free!

OK this is what I think – the Rush does make a great race bike and really can handle the worst we can throw at in the UK and Wales.

I have used mine with delicate XTR wheels at Brechfa in a rather carefree manner and despite my lack of ability I survived and the XTR wheels did too. kitted out to a 25lb race bike the rush is hard to beat and even I can get on “fun” podiums with it – and I have been racing since 1989!

Some would argue that the Rize is too much bike for anything we have in the UK and I am having a hard time getting mine below 27.7lbs. However the Rize (well mine at least) does make a superb trail/fun bike/free ride toy.

If I had too choose just one it would be the Rush ( so long as it had a decent wheelset!

    Thats easy get both.

    Heres my pair:

    2008 Carbon 4:

    2008 Carbon 3:

Dont ask me to pick my favourite as I have not had the Rize long enough to compare yet – but I am so lovin the Talas Fox on it. those clydsdale white bars and stem have got to go though.

I went for the 08 model as in 09 they have ditched fox forks in favour of Rockshoks and I think fox have the edge right now.

just do it – some men spend it all on beer/fags/betting/football – if the missus moans – just remind her that at least she knows where you are and what you are doing – next time she catches you lineing up your spoke nipples so that the flats are perpendicular to the rim (or am I the only one that does this?)

naw- it just means you are weak in the legs – ride more – try running. I find a 10K run knackers me up like 6 hours in the saddle.

Try and build up your adductors and hamstrings – they are the usual culprits letting us down.

get your gait checked out – you might be suppinating or pronating excessivly and the netral SPD/shoe set up might cause the flare up.

If you are flat footed check out the Speccy BG insoles – I even use a pair in my ice skate boots!

Like it.Looks like a good contender for a “do it all” bike.Have fun.
My OCD would drive me nuts with the non matching tyres & stem/seatpost though !

each to thier own – this project only started as I had the following spares:

    Crosstrails
    bonty stem
    Hope minis
    Xtr R-Mech

And besides it by no means finished – if I like the bonty stem angle and length I will get the matching WCS wet look one.

my problem now is that I have the following spares:

    Pair of redmetal 3’s
    couple of XT shadows
    couple of XTR F-mechs
Pair of Manitou Black elites spv 90/100/120
    few stems and bars
    – so I’m after a black Superlight to do a nice Red/Black build….

The other day my missus said – “I dont think you can get more than 9 bikes your shed” to which I replied – “hmm sounds like a challenge!” that’ll teach her to poke her nose in…..

PSA: Revelations 426 120/140 need to be pumped up firstly in the top valve and secondly in the lower valve – I did it arse about face and got stuck on 120mm. as soon as I deflated the lower valve the forks popped up to reveal 150mm of stanchion!

12 miles Health and ride complete: I rather like the high stem position, but it might be unwieghting the front end a bit too much.

Racing_ralph – I agree – its a 30.9 410 – planning to flea bay it or swap it for a black one. the PG970 is coming off tomorrow – XT going on.

Ive also ordered the “dark Orange” nisene scuff set, purely for poseability factor.

    out and about this pm:

was planning a trip into the downs on it tonight – dont quite have the miles in my legs at the moment though!
