Compared to 20 years ago XL now was L for me 32″ inside leg so I find XL ok with the saddle all the way back – I could really do with a set back seat post also

    New bike will be heavier

nothing much has changed in the last 20 years

forks still have round telescopic stanchions that reduce trail on corners and 2019 fox 36 flex badly compared to 2002 Lefty.

the main different is wider handle bars, shorter stem and longer top tube

If you really want a new new bike that offers you something new – get a EMTB

I refuse to buy another new car until I can get something close to a tesla (hopefully Dyson will do this for us) for £30K

And the OP is correct Rudolph Diesel Born 1858 invented the engine we are still putting into new cars in 2019, if it wasn’t for him we would be buying steam cars today.

    At least Hitler’s U-boats embraced the E-power

Also I am pleased car sales are down and Honda is closing – it serves the industry right for being greedy and lazy.

I wouldnt trust anyone to build a wheel for me.

best way is to buy the parts and assemble the wheel your self – then pay a local shop or mechanic to dish/tension it.

this way you can lube the spoke threads with the correct lube and know its a bonza job.

Afterall, the first thing you will do when you get a new wheel is balance it, right?

I have done 3 wheels like this and have refurbed 6 Crossmax Wheels this way.

Sometimes its the only way you can get what you want – in this case I wanted a V brake UST 26″ rear wheel.

The Brompton is worth every penny – well mine is – I have a 2016 S6L – compared to a road bike it accelerates like a rocket, and dont forget the rear suspension, also it is very stable and you can forget your riding a folder with 16″ wheels.

I got mine from the bike shop in Malmesbury- they are official dealers.

Mine was thier Demo bike so I got a £1050 bike for £750

I tried the “m” bars but found them too flexy – the Straight bar has a slightly taller stem and is rock solid.

My only warning is that when you hear something rattling on the back- dont ignore it – its the derailiuer bolt which goes in from underneath. I was lucky though otherwise it could wreack your back wheel –

Also on the New Intercity Express trains mine doesnt fit (all the way) under the luggage rack as I have the extra long seat post!!!

I used mine from Swindon to NEC (12 miles a day) for a year and its still rides like new. it paid for itself in 3 weeks!

I love mine and even though I dont commute on it now I am keeping it.

    What about these factors:

    Send our recycling to China
House pyscotic murders on free Full Board for life
Pay farmers not to grow crops
Restrict free speech with our legislature
Have a hereditary Monarchy and call it a democracy.
Have nuclear powered and armed Submarines
Have homeless people in our towns with Tuberculosis
Cant stop the illicit drug trade.

also if you are 29er then a 29X2.8 is likely to be havier than one of the tires on Audi A6.

I think the drone flyers are heros, but they will be treated like Emmeline Pankhurst or Nelson Mandela, imprisoned until we realise we are all wrong then awarded and celebrated.

I would like to see drones fylers around the kingdom doing this randomly at all airports.

    # Nick I have the same problem mate, not to mention XL bikes getting smaller.

the Bette is a good call but it uses 2mm steel and the Conoduo uses 3.5mm so even tough its a bit more expensive – it is worth it.

not a problem in the summer I can fill a 10 foot 3000 litre pool at 35deg C from my system set to 60 deg c

I have a 185X90 upstairs which isnt big enough for me so I am going to do a 2 meter one downstairs as I have a concrete floor.

Ideally it would be 2500 X 1100, but I cant find anything that size available!

Net Migration over the last 20 years is the main driver of house price inflation which is why our children have little hope of owning a home unless they want a 300K mortgage.

and even with the govs target of 100K per year it wont get any better – we need a target of -100K per year.

Shock of Shock Migrants have ruined our housing market.

I think all my problems are caused by the mud hugger and the clay that I ride on – the MH would be good if mud didnt stick to it and in some parts of the country that might be the case.

I have orderded the puny syncros bolt on guard (£15 posted Tredz) and If it doesnt cover the rear of the front tire very well I will extend it, hopefully it will be a bit higher than the Mud hugger, so that stones dont get stuck in it.

I never had any issues like this with my lefty bikes, and BTW my 2002 lefty 130 defects less that the Fox 36 under braking!  but apart from that the fox is a great fork, even if the lock out is harder to reach than on the old lefty,

The MH is no on a 26er Marin with a 2.2 tyre and it looks a better fit (ie more clearnace)

Cant wait to see how Tight the 2.6 Butcher is in the Foxes

    its on my 2016 Cannondale Moterra LT1- FOX Factory 36 FLOAT FIT4, 160mm, 3-Pos-adj, 15QRx110mm, Kashima Coat

But like I said the distance from axle to brige is 26.5cm which is 26er size! so are there only 26er and 29er forks produced?

I thought if I was buying a 27.5 wheeled bike – then it would have had a 27.5 Fork and frame?

I make sure that I do the odd bit of daily housework (that my wife hates doing) so I can use that when the accusations of being in the garage all the time come my way.

I have  about 12 to 15 bikes to maintain- when ever I get asked how many bikes I have – I always reply “why – do you have some autistic counting symdrome?” that usually shuts them up.

Then theres the car collection……no excuse for that!

Resurrecting this thread as on saturday I was using a 650b Magic mary and mud hugger ( on 110×15 hub) and eventually the front wheel jammed up completely.

So I figure while the MM 27.5 is great in the summer – I need something which gives me more front mud clearance.

I know I could just chuck the mud hugger – but it does such a good job…

Luckily I have another bike with a 15mm X100 Hope Pro2 Evo on a 26″ rim with a Fat Albert tire – I fitted it today and the mud clearance looks much better.

So now all I want to do is use the 15X100 hub in my 15X110 fork, as a temporary winter fix.

Is the best option for me 2 X 5mm Spacers and a 5mm Disc Spacer?

Where I live we spend £1.5M per year on Druggies and Alco’s – I used to be the Local Drug and Alcohol Treatment Commissioner (2009 to 2013) and I when I paid for residential Rehab I would always make the druggy give up thier council house and pay all of the benfits to fund the Rehab!  I made the drug workers very cross and the patients cried alot – but i was not about to waste one more penny on these idiots than I had to.

The subcontracted drug treatment provider could only ever manage to get users off crack or heroine and onto 40 fags a day – that counts as success all the way up to the Governments Statistic

    Reverb

    Thomson

    Transx

    Brandx

    KS Lev Integra

    KS Dropzone

the Integra is the lightest and operates as good as the thomson – but whatever you get make sure you protect it properly
