Regularly get a sports massage on my back – on-going issues from a bad spinal fracture 2 years ago. I tend to go when things start getting bad again. Luckily we have Physio student’s here and it only costs £25 for 45 minutes.

Tricky one. Never mind 2 4 1 deals.. plenty of us here for group hitman deal.

My MIL is disabled and now on her own as she mithered my FIL to death.

She isn’t too bad but you can’t go round to just visit. You get jobs to do.. She will constantly phone when something goes wrong. It’s usually the heating is 1 degree to warm or too cold. She won’t alter the thermostat herself even though she can get to it.

I used to commute every day come rain, snow, ice etc (ice tyres are awesome). Unfortunately that ended 2 years ago when a blind motorist turned right across my path. Ended up with a badly broken spine and 4 ribs. 6 1/2 weeks in hospital and 4 months in a storm trooper spinal brace. 7 months off work.

No more cycle commutes (previously had broken ribs and smashed shoulder from more idiots).

I’ve given up road riding completely and only getting on the MTB once a week at best. My back has been giving me increasing pain and not done any exercise for over a month. Back at the physio weekly now.

5 bikes in the garage… hacked off is an understatement.

My son’s is an i7 4790k (upto 4.4ghz) with 16GB and a GeForce 970 from a couple of years ago. SSD as the boot drive, plus 2 x 2GB drives. He does have a 27″ monitor and 2 x 24″ for wrap round gaming and it still plays all the games at high resolution/frame rates. By the time he was finished he was looking over £1500.

As said, an i5 with a 1060/1070 if you can stretch it. The 1080’s are frighteningly expensive for not much more oomph.

I’ll second a water cooler – my son built a gaming machine about 2 years ago, and it takes the heat right out of the back. He runs 4 fans on 50% and the machine is surprisingly quiet and internally cool at full tilt. The heat coming off the water pump radiator at the back is tremendous.

I never ‘touch’ a female colleague – very easy way to end up in trouble. I do know one or two ‘touchy’ females that quite openly touch your arm, but I certainly don’t reciprocate. I’ve had a young female colleague come for a hug in the office on the day she was leaving – I felt ‘uncomfortable’ as I’m old enough to be her dad, but it was a ‘thanks’ type thing and we do keep in touch – not so sure it would work the other way round.

You do have to be very careful, as some folk see the complete opposite in your intentions.

We have one young ‘married’ girl in the office who get’s very ‘tactile’ after a few beers (nothing is intended, just she get’s very touchy) – one of the other girls said ‘watch out’ in a ‘nice’ way. Again, if it’s a bloke getting like that, things would certainly be different.

Looked like we might run out of sweets at one point, but I can confirm there is almost a full tub of Haribo left :-)

Dished out loads of sweets – bit of a mad rush between 6 and 7pm as we’d just got in. The 9 month old kitten had been trashing the witches broom during the day – twigs all over the lounge.

All the kids were very polite though, and most supervised by parents. Anyone wanting visitor’s usually decorates their houses round here – pumpkins and a smoking skull in our porch. The kids seem to respect that if the house isn’t decorated, you aren’t getting sweets.

Made the mistake of going out on the bike last year, after the young kids had been trick or treating. Within 300 yards of the house had two groups of teens shout abuse, and one lad throw an iron bar at me.

Next village, two coppers warned me to keep away from a particular area due to trouble. Fortunately, once off road, I didn’t see a soul.

Stayed in this time handing out sweets and drinking beer.

We were taking time off, but it was overnight care as well for probably two months before things got very difficult, and that’s when the organisation helped out – he ideally should have been in hospital, but an ambulance crew wouldn’t take him as he was too ill. Also there are many employers who won’t let you take lots of time off for a dying relative.

And this is about the OP’s situation. If the person is too frail, there isn’t a lot to do other than keeping them comfortable, so getting help sorted out now can be useful.

We had quite a bit of family crap going on, on sister didn’t want her dad having the morphine (very low dose) but it had to be spelled out to her that it stops people getting frustrated (I know as I was on buckets of the stuff when I broke my spine).

My last MOT the local garage said my rear suspension was a bit bouncy but it’s not leaking so it’s passed the MOT. The car became progressively more bouncy over a few weeks, so I booked it in for new rear shocks (the car’s 15 years old). Ours are very reasonable and won’t do anything that doesn’t need doing.

Local garage. The ‘fast fit’ outlets often try and sell you other stuff that doesn’t need doing.

Your family may need to push for an answer or a better scan. We went through the same with my FIL. History of COPD (heavy smoker) but started to lose weight over 6 months. We got him to agree to a checkup and scans revealed shadows. Further tests (no biopsy) and it was Stage 4 and close to the main windpipe.

Options were chemo but he was very frail and the treatment would possibly kill him. He deteriorated quickly but and was ‘too ill’ to be admitted. Social services helped out with a hospital bed for the back room. Unfortunately MIL is disabled (stroke) so we had to arrange extra carers. We were also lucky to find an organisation that would do overnight care as we were all working. They kept an eye on him for about 3 weeks until he died.

If someone is too frail there isn’t much you can do, but please do engage with social services and your GP to see what home care can be acquired, as it’s hard caring for a dying relative at home.

My wife has the Garmin Vivo Active HR – it’s a bit chunky but the main thing is it’s waterproof and is one of the only trackers that will do swimming.

The website alone would say ‘stay away’.

You’ve not paid any deposit so the car won’t be ordered. Check what you’ve clicked on, I doubt you’ll be liable. As an individual you usually have 30 days ‘cooling off period’ for agreements.

Drift it out carefully. I bought the tool as I have 3 bikes with old quill type headsets. Press back in with blocks of wood and a hammer, or use a threaded bar, nuts and large washers

I have a Gemini Duo copy (Yinding 2xU2) which is the ‘best’ Chinese copy. The light beam is excellent and more than enough at about 1200 lumen real output. It’s also tiny.

Good run times from solarstorm battery boxes with panasonic cells.

You can get other ‘copies’ some better than others, but the Yinding is about as good as the original – get the light head only.

I’ve had it about 3 years and it’s been used in all weathers, from wet commutes to muddy night rides. I’d recommend either the Duo or the Yinding, depending upon how available they are.

Torchy on ebay, and again the 4x Solarstorm cases. I have the older cases without the USB.

I also use an Xtar charger when needed (to balance the batteries) along side the normal plug in charger.

Spend a bit more on taps. Oh and use copper ‘top hats’ rather than the plastic ones (the nuts that fix the tap to the bath/basin).

I refurbished ours few years ago – we kept the units (20 years old) as they were decent, but my wife wanted the bath turning 180 degrees. New electric shower unit, new quality taps, new soft flush mechanism (existing handle converted to ‘touch’, and I replaced the toilet bowl as that had a small crack.

Main issues with bathrooms are cheap connectors/top hats. As others have said, take time fitting the bath and get it all levelled and properly sealed in before tiling (fill bath, then silicone seal the sides to the walls). We found our bath hadn’t been fitted that well by the builders – 2 or 3 of the 5 adjustable legs weren’t tight to the floor.

If it’s been leaking for some time, then you have an issue. With it being behind tiles, then it’s not going to dry.

We’ve had a few leaks over the years but they have been short term, we were able to dry out affected lounge ceiling. We’ve had a bath leak and a toilet mains inlet leak.

The Yaris is awesome – we had our 1999 car for 17 years from new. Sold it to get a big car (along side my car) and the new owner was chuffed. Reliable motors.

Need to know the processors as the 2nd is a 3rd gen i7, the first looks like a 1st gen as it’s only 3 digits in the naming series.

    The 2nd is the fastest.

PS Faster processor – you could always buy a cheap monitor to leave set up in the garage/pain den for the laptop to plug into.

The screen size isn’t important tbf. You’ll be trying to hard. just nice to see something moving, or your progress through a pack.

I hate turbo sessions, but having been left with a busted spine two years ago, it’s been a good low impact way of keeping going. I still hate it, but when my back isn’t good enough to take a battering on the MTB, I go on the turbo. I struggle to climb off it. I was a hardened roadie prior to my accident. No road for me now.
