Happy to lead a group if there was a regular ride, we are there most weekends as fu_manchu says though the pace can differ week to week based on fitness (mine mainly) and time chatting.

Personally I think every other month or a quarterly for a Big Swinley STW Ride would be pretty good balance of regularity.

It’s great to see so many enjoyed the day.

singlespeeedstu – we plan too, can’t get round everywhere in one year managed North Yorks and a bit of Scotland last year as somewhere different. Didn’t want you to think I was one location rider  But those extra pics convince me it’s worth the trip for a few days.

it’s an association to when we saw a group riding just forest roads, it was suggested they were on a bikemagic alternate ride, turned out to be my own group who’d go a different way :)

The crack doesn’t appear to have got that much bigger from when it was noticed. Not that you could give it that “one last ride”

On the bright side you will get the new bike feeling with no outlay :)

Thank CG for arranging, it was good to put names to faces and have a social ride, thanks to Atlaz for being the sweeper for the group I was leading that worked really well.

Look forward doing it again great bunch to ride with really enjoyed it.

I’ve uploaded some footage I took, mainly the trails a few with people but mostly the trails we rode today and some from the jump gully. The camera doesn’t seem to be square on, so some look a little lope side :) The one’s from today all have STW Ride 10/01/09 in the title. Don’t forget on the right hand side of the video is a watch in high quality option worth watching that way.

I’ve got a Garmin Etrex but it’s very basic, sometimes plot routes on Memory Maps and uploade to the GPS, likewise you can download a route recorded on the GPS to Memory Maps to see where you’ve been, it’s an old I am sure there are better options now.

mine started well then tailed off though i’ve lost three quarters of a pound over the last two weeks, not nearly enough!!

Still let’s see what the next 12 weeks can do for me……..

Maybe worth looking at a skills weekend maybe a day with a tutor and then a day riding together.

Skills course helped my Mrs no end and it means you can have a good ride when she’s training and then a social ride the next day.

I used Steve a Chasing Trail he was very good and the results have been excellent.

BBB a power link is so the thing that you should have more of, they can be a saver on the trail, sure you not got one in a Camelbak (other hydration systems are available)

My pleasure, good to see so many people willing to head out for the last ride of the year. I’ll post up some footage I took later today or tomorrow. Good to see such a range of bikes, Alfine to 29er to XC Ti awesome.

But the trails are in good health at the moment with the hard ground.

Look forward to doing it again on the 10th.

pyshcie – take a print out of the paypal receipt.

CG – wasn’t the normal ranger in the green pickup, not really sure if Crown Estate or English Nature as she never spoke to use just saw her drive past. The board had the Swinley Forest Cycling logo on it

atlaz, was a bit weird though she was driving a silver daihatsu charade type car on the fire roads and it was funny seeing it come down the steep hill up the other side and straight though a massive puddle, didn’t stop to say anything just looked very out of place, think they’d give here a 4×4 !!

Only knew it was a warden as there was a sign in the front window.

Maybe a bit late but if you are coming tomorrow then be worth getting a day permit online as the shop doesn’t open till 10am and it’s a requirement there was a cycle warden driving around today. You can buy online here.
