Yes we should have a plan be it a couple ‘cafe’ stops, regroup points, when I did Mega Pretzel I stopped for about 10 mins just after the mid point of the ride which helped.

Maybe for a ride like this split it into thirds. Breaks at 25km/45km top of Alpe for example.

I will be fueling next week with gels, cake bars, some fresh fruit and sweets that’s the current plan, will ensure to have a couple day rest so no riding or running on Thursday or Friday at least.

That was mind of matter not my fav route and I’d had enough of it at mile 30 :) anyhow I got it done feel all the better for it.

    Great turn out too.

Horseman aim is steady pace, I started a bit quick today, but am looking forward to to and the challenge and yes I think we should pop in a cafe stop on it maybe a top the Epic Kom or bottom just top give a little more time to digest our coffee and cake before Alpe section, top or bottom don’t mind.

I don’t think it’s the type of ride to be gunning for PB’s… LOL

New York isn’t a great world is it..I did a quick ride there last week, so glad I use a Fulgaz for some outdoor Virtual ride 4K niceness to balance the graphic worlds…

Anyhow I’d do any of those, pref probably Mountain 8 or oddly the everything bagel as not done it or at least don’t think I have, I am sure we did London Loop or similar a couple weeks back or similar.

I am good with any ride not planning a big ride on Saturday.

Not seen that checklist of routes that very useful thank for posting that

I’d offered up Petit Boucle as an option for this weekend ahead of the big one on the 7th :)

A lot of it is mental I do get a bit of doubt before a big ride with big climbs, but once you are in it and on the way with good prep then all is well.

If we do try and stick together and help each other on the climbs it will be fine, I also try and keep up with the faster riders which this morning was a bit detrimental in the later part of the first climb, I did my pace on the second and that was more comfortable, but I don’t mind waiting at the tops (as long as I remember and don’t start rolling down !!) that’s what a social group ride should be about.

I think you’d be surprised oopnorth of what you could achieve.

My plan is to complete it and to do that, I’ll take couple days rest before it, back off the pace on the climbs (so slower than today), fuel regularly over the ride. Done on tired legs it will be a struggle for sure.

We’ve Horseman on the 7th so a rolling one next week would be good :)

Ventoux could be a group ride just might be lacking in banter! :)

I use Fulgaz as my Primary app on the Wattbike and compliment that with Zwift.

I don’t follow programmes just prefer to ride around, be it group rides on Zwift or Solo on Fulgaz (though V4 will have some group elements) but both platforms offer plans.

    https://fulgaz.com/fulgaz-training/
    https://www.zwift.com/uk/training-plans

I’d probably benefit from a programme but not something that I find too motivational, we are all different and fortunately there is something for everyone.

Both Apps work well on the Atom.

Enjoyed that this morning, went on and did an extra bit on the Tempus Fugit route.

I am around next weekend so would be up for a Sunday Hills, I’ve not done Ven-Top but that isn’t really rolling hills should mix up harder rides and some nice more rolling rides, today’s was quite tough, felt better on the second climb than the first probably as I was a bit overspeed on the first and had to back out of maintaining that to ensure I got the ride done.

If we want an a more rolling Sunday Hills maybe the Petit Boucle decent distance not to much climbing.

Thanks oopnorth I’d happily do it Ventoux once I don’t need to do it 6 times on the same day either. :)

@oopnorth I am pretty flexible on routes a couple thoughts if more traditional hills fare muir-and-the-mountain, achterbahn, or triple loops, something a bit flatter but longer Tire-Bouchon.

    @robbo
hope you get to do what you want to do and Covid doesn’t stop it.

Think I am all good on veveresting..LOL, would like a go at Ventoux though as not done that yet, it’s on my other app so may download it there.

Are there are rides planned Saturday or Sunday this weekend?

I’ve had one two years now and 128 miles short of doing 5000 indoor miles in that time , use it with FulGaz and Zwift, I have a high opinion of it as it’s been a great asset in gaining and maintaining a level of health and fitness and I use it all year round.

I still look forward to riding it, helps with Fulgaz as there are so many different rides, if you are wanting, hills, flat, easy hard, mountain, urban etc….. Without the variety I’d not have stuck with it.

There is also a great Zwift community on here, races, group rides too. Zwift I added during lockdown 1.0 for variety and the group element, that’s worked well and while I can have both the subs going as it’s good to have a choice of app.

All good I did a decent hours ride, committing to a ride meant I got up and did a decent ride set up for the day now.

I think we should make that a challenge. Anyone who manages less than 120% of ftp on the sprint has to do another lap!

And keep doing laps till we make 120%…. LOL I’ll be glad to have made it to that point, it will mean nearly over 6000ft of climbing has been done

Thanks Robbo, that final sprint on four horseman might be a bit lacklustre 😂😂 looking forward to it great challenge

Mega Pretzel took me 4:00:29 with a 12 min break so 3:48:15 ride time.

Happy to do Four Horseman on the 7th let’s get it done and planning now means I can put a couple days rest in before doing it, I don’t mind the Alpe being at the end make it more epic.

    Mega Pretzel is do able

7th Nov is that for the Four Horsemen I can do that, I’ve done a similar amount of climbing so if I don’t go off fast be fine.

Commute can do Wed/Thur or Friday next week

I’ve done Mega Pretzel, I would do again I had a short break at the mid-point, I’d probably not bother changing bikes though.

    @dangeourbrain
I would be up for doing 4 Horsemen I am not sure I can match your hill climbing pace but I’d like to give it ago, and having it as meet may may make us more likely to do it, not sure if I can do in one or would need a quick rest mid way through.

All good dangeourbrain, think when the distance is too far it’s hard to keep going knowing the pace you need.

Think my chat was playing up at the end, good ride today enjoyed that, thanks for the invite and company, felt strong to the end, moral being rest days are as much part of training as riding.

Thanks for the route link, Saturday is fine with me as is 8am, will we be having a break in the middle or going for it non-stop? Hopefully I will get a bit more pacey and feel a bit fitter next week.

Thanks all good ride out this morning found it tougher than it should have been, think I need a couple proper rest days. Which Pretzel next week were you thinking oopnorth?

    forge197

8:30 would be ideal, I’ve not done London Pretzel so that would be good, we’ve done a fair bit in France of late, but happy to go with consensus view

I can’t make it, not around this weekend, done 400 miles this month so a weekend off be a good thing I think :) have a good ride.

Good ride, @oop north I’ve was a bit off normal pace as I had to save some legs for another 5 miles riding and a 5k run and generally being knackered 😂.

That said definitely seemed a quicker on the MTB through the Jungle no way I was catching today. Be good to do again on fresher legs.

Probably can’t make another ride till October 😳
