Managed a lap of Marin Trail (not 100%) sure it’s new name, much better than two, weeks back when I have to cut short as just had no energy.

Then picked up a Kona Unit to use along canals and local dual use paths

My weight has been static so far this year, I am about 5kg over where I need to be and this year oddly also seems harder but the equation is still the same calories in and calories out need less in and more out to loose weight.

I have a new focus from now as I’ve have a busy Jan – now and have some clear space and less trips and events upcoming.

My goal will be greater calorie focus and doing better quality exercise minutes, less walking bit more running/jogging and biking.

That’s the plan, let’s see where I get too

    Good luck OP

I’ll be riding the Marin trail first ride since late May and probably only the fifth this year, so suspect the climbs will feel special, social ride with a mate so not a race!

Also have had Mu-So coming up two years this xmas, sound quality is exceptional, works as a sound bar, airplay, internet radio and Spotify connect, well made even at high volume it remains controlled and toneful.

I would say that it would be better demo one in a more room like environment I found that in the shop it was good but sounded so much nicer when setup in a room rather than the large open shop!

righog – I do like the RF styling, but prefer the simplicity of the fabric folding roof, I think if it was a daily drive and I had to park it in more random places it would be top of the list as the folding tin top would provide better security and peace of mind when left.

Mazda UK have a couple Launch events and I got an invite so I am going along to one to see it in the flesh, but suspect I’ll stick this time with the Sport RS we have now

We had a mk3.5 sport which was our introduction to the MX5 was a great car and we did a lovely tour of Europe in it, then swapped to the MK4 2.0 Sport Nav the drive of the 3 vs 4 is marked difference as the 4 is lighter and a touch smaller than the 3.

Then they bought out a special edition which I should have waited for rather than jumping into the black one, wonderful hindsight and all that!!! So another swap now had the white Sport Recaro over 6 months and I think it fair to say of the many cars I’ve had over the years it’s up there as my favourite just a great fun car to be in and drive top up or down.

Would echo comments on storage if thats a requirement I’d test what you want to carry before purchase just in case… it has much more space than the Elise did though :-)

The mk3 and 3.5 offer some fantastic value I found both the mk3 and 4 sufficient performance for the road to have fun, it won’t win a drag race but it will be joy in the corners and twisty bits and all other times.

Coconut I had our heater on a fused spur timer, I am minded to turn it off and see the difference as you say it’s not really big enough to warm to a large degree.

Since dropping our fan to speed 2, no noise can’t hear it, no loft smell, fresh air in house, and most importantly no condensation so far.

I was sceptical and really reticent to invest, we’d done the whole dehumidifier thing last couple years, windows on trickle but still had some condensation, so far it seems to have gone not a single drop and the air in the house just ‘feels’ nice. Need to do the whole Winter now for the long term prognosis, early indications are positive.

Going to see how it goes I am not sure the onboard heater would get the heat that high :-)

May end up better to turn the inbuilt heater off and run an oiled rad on the landing to warm the air will see

First winter with it so will see what works best and most efficient.

Comes on at 10 degrees or less, its on a timer to Control when it can be on and off, I’ll see what’s it like in depth of winter and if needs to be on more but not much point adding heat when not needed it’s only a small heater so it won’t heat the house think it warms the air just a couple degrees not convinced it makes much difference overall, doesn’t seem too!

Is there no recirculation or heater element in these things?
It’s only going to get colder hereon in.

I have the heater element in the Nuaire (connected to a timer) but don’t think it really heats it much will see as it gets colder how effective it is, though the house seems to heats up faster and keep the heat more so than previous, downstairs is great, just a little edge on the landing, which has no heating on it.

@Murray – did you get one or are you on the fence?

I have a little update – Reduced the speed to 2 now it’s completely silent, no loft smell now, the house air is much fresher which is nice, does make the landing a little chillier as you’d expect as there is colder entering the house.

I’ve not had any condensation on the windows since it’s been in, early into condensation season of course but early signs are good, will see how we get on through the rest of the autumn/winter and into spring.

Second checking pivot bolts I had some that needed some extra loctite which should help that. Just gave the bike a once over before work so it’s ready for what looks like a wet ride tomorrow!

Forks were mentioned I run a Rockshox Yari, also using a 50mm stem as that’s what I had for the build. Can’t help size wise as at 5ft4 and not the longest legs it’s the small for me :-)

Built a Patrol up over the last couple days gone from my normal 175mm cranks to 170mm and on yesterday’s first ride all seems good, didn’t notice any difference due to crank length.

The paint didn’t flake on the first ride either so that was good, I’ve not checked frame alignment yet :-)

Looking forward to a few more rides and see how we get on….

I might try the lower speed also it’s on three now, temp set to 10 for the heat going to leave at that, will sort timer tomorrow evening so it’s ready.

Do like the fresher feeling air and better smelling as it circulates air freshener which is a bonus.

And the loft smell as its cooled last few days it maybe from the warmer weather.

You after the heat one specifically? I have the non heat one but as the poster above not had it for the winter season yet. Mine doesn’t smell of the loft though!

Wonder if we have the fan speed a little high it’s a taint rather than full on, mrsforge didn’t notice it just me :-)

I am intrigued when we start having to have the heating on and the colder weather comes if it really does sort condensation we have had on Windows and a couple of walls, we’ve tried a number of other remedies like windows on vent and dehumidifier.

I’ve one, only installed over the summer ready for the condensation season, so it’s probably a bit early to say, reminds me need to setup the timer for the heater bit so it’s not on all the time heating air for no reason!

Early indications are that the air in the house is fresher as you’d expect as when the loft is less than 24 degrees it pushing air from the loft into the house all the time, does feel nicer in that regard.

So far so good, but we haven’t hit condensation time so we will see how we get on, I can report back, I was/am skeptical but thought I’d just take the punt and see how it goes.

Only thing I’d mention you can get a slight small of the loft, I’ve installed one of those battery air fresheners near the vent and so it now distributes air freshened air rather than air slightly tainted of loft :)

I used this one recently in the USA, easy to top up, and worked in all shops and for getting cash out.

Only thing to note on pre-pay no always accepted by hire car companies and I have had some challenges in hotels but other than that it’s been great and nice way to budget.

I’ve had a Vivoactive HR since they came out end of April, like the device it’s getting better with each release though it auto completes paused exercises after 15 mins where as it used to be 30 which is a bit rubbish.

I had Fitbit before for over two years.

Think the Fitbit app is simpler and easier to use and you can have multiple activity trackers and it syncs the steps so you are not tied to just a watch, band or clip on.

With Garmin it doesn’t reconcile multiple devices within Garmin connect so if you have real watches you have to make a tracking choice, or use a Fitbit and Garmin which is rubbish really. I did try using vivosmart band and Vivoactive that didn’t work :) so the active went back.

The battery life in the Garmin vs Fitbit surge the Garmin is far superior it exceeds the estimates given by Garmin.

I’ve a mu-so and a Spotify Prem account did try free trial of tidal but it didn’t have the range of music or easy use app as Spotify, the quality of tidal though was excellent.

The mu-so is at least to my ears stunning aurally credit to Naim in getting that sound soundstage out of that box even 15 months in its delivers real enjoyment in listening to music love it.

Also listened to the new mu-so qb which also sounds immense for its size just trying to work out where I actually ‘need’ it

Our house suffered from (damp) now known to be condensation in a few areas, I found a local surveyor to carry out damp readings with a decent gauge, as I wanted to understand if it was outside coming in and therefore leaks to fix or condensation, turned out to be condensation.

The four things that have helped us since then
    Cavity Wall Insulation
    Increase Loft Insulation
Shutting the bathroom door and better ventilating the bathroom
Raising the min temperature to 18 has warmed the walls and house as whole and as we have better insulation it stays around 18 and so heating just comes on every now and then to top up

I have had Envirovent in today and we are going to call Nuaire tomorrow am tempted by one of the PIV systems, and can see the benefits though there is a cost delta between the two brands. I like the concept and we can drop the dehumidifier which is noisy and the PIV’s are quiet and discrete.

We’ll also look to change the extractor in the bathroom to something more powerful.

Good luck, I’ve far less to lose this year also used MFP had a 1000 day streak up to the mid point last year, then took “time off” from it and maintained weight give or take a 1kg or 2!, in reality I’ve 10kg to loose to complete the job, so just started again and pretty focused too.

There was a STW group on MFP if your looking for like minded people to follow on MFP though not sure how many are still active.

Our Karchers was on offer in B&Q think it was about £40-45.

We have a dehumidifier it helps but not a cure either, hoping if the price is right do replace the dehumidifier with a permanent wired in PIV to get better quality air filtered air as we have asthma it should also (if the hype is correct) help with Condensation.

    forge197

We recently got a Karcher Window Vac it’s excellent, we reduced condensation a bit by keeping the bathroom door shut (other than when go in and out of it!!) but not eliminated entirely and have increased ventilation.

We are getting a price for PIV http://www.envirovent.com/specifier/products/positive-input-ventilation/ to help with condensation, quality of air.

We’ve been doing a bit of decluttering, most stuff went the charity shop as stuff that still has a use but we don’t need or have more than 2 of  we’ve still a couple more bits to run through.

I’ve been reading suffocation a book around living with less although I don’t subscribe to minimalism in so far as those that display they only have 60 items to their name, but more that what you do own should give you experiences and that memories are more valuable than the owning. Exception being days to day food shopping and stuff like that is this more around consumer items.

Therefore bikes are fine if you use them and have experiences and memories.

What it does though is just make you think when you buy some thing how will create an experience or will it just be clutter or not used in the future.

Decluttering is at least we find quite refreshing the key is to keep the space and resist the urge to fill it.
