An ex. girlfriend used to look after the horses of someone in the village when they were away. The house (more of a mansion really) was huge with tennis court, swimming pools, stables, forest etc. etc. (owner used to trade oil tankers I believe!). One week we were housesitting (staying in "The West Wing" of this enormous place) and after a particularly heavy night in the pub I awoke the next morning and stumbled into the en-suite, only to discover a big curly turd in the yellow bathtub. I obvioulsy didn't remember doing it but I must of got up in the middle of the night, perched on the edge of the bath and crimped one off. After disposing of it, no amount of scrubbing/Ajax could remove the brown-coloured, donut-shaped stain on the bath. I often wonder what the owners (or next house-guest) thought it was…..

Had these guys recommended to me by a Brit working for Commencal in Andorra. Said he'd used them before for Motorbike decals.

It sounds like the original agent had not managed to sell your property in over a year? How long was the original agreement you signed with him for? If shorter than this I can't see that you owe him.

What you need is one of the below; perfect soldiers every time. you simply rock the thing over bread before toasting which scores/cuts it, allowing you to snap off the soldiers after toasting. The real genius bits are the "yolk bayonets" which are the long thinner bits at the edge!!! I use mine every Saturday morning!

I've got a 15 month old, and she went through a phase a little while back of suddenly not sleeping through. If you think it might be teething, you should try Ashton & Parsons Teething Powders. We'd never heard of them but suddenly had a few people recommend them to us. You can get them at Boots etc. If it is teething problems (mouth pain, upset tummy etc.) they seemed to work really well.

Snow + warmer weather = thaw

    Thaw + Swinley = swamp!

    Hi.

More advice – if you own or have ever entertained the idea of buying a 4×4 vehicle you'd best get your coat.

For big platform I don't think you can beat Easton Flatboys. I run the Wellgo MG1s, which I find great (can confirm "compatability" with 5:10s). Am thinking of spending some Xmas money on the Canfield Brothers Crampon pedals…..they are supposed to offer some benefits, but really it's the bling value & quirkiness that's drawing me to them!

What exactly am I getting defensive about…my rear wheel drive 4-door, 5 year old saloon??? Don't think so.

I think you've just argued against yourself there mark_b…as you yourself say, most cars are not "needed", they just give people a "quality of life" which THEY appreciate. They don't need you to vindicate it. A brisk brush with your hand should remove that chip on your shoulder. I don't feel inferior to others just because they're sat a few feet higher than me when driving on the roads but hey, each to their own.

mark_b……would you care to enlighten us as to your make/model of motor car (if indeed you do own one)? We can then debate if you "need" it or could make do with something else.

A friend owns an ancient Fiat Panda 4×4 worth all of about £2.50. Any reason why she would fall into the category of f*+ckwit or might that force you to re-evaluate your sweeping generalisation and realise that actually your problem is with bad drivers who have bigger cars or more money than you?

A Thomson post won't necessarily give you any more than using a straight post with a set-back clamp beacuse the clamps on Thomson posts are in-line. Basically they achieve the set-back by bending the post, not positioning the clamp further back.

    Read about these things…..

…..and thought they ought to be tried. Had some mates 'round a few weeks ago, made own burgers, used premium bacon and good cheese and although they are a heart attack in your hand, they were nice. King of the culinary guilty pleasure surely!

Bit of fresh thyme in your batter mix works well I find!

Search on E-bay and you'll find loads of army surplus goretex stuff. Very cheap compared to bike/hiking specific brands.

Thanks all. Just spoken to my friendly LBS and they said they would helop me out. I'll resort to the patch fix if a replacement is not forthcoming.

It's been a few years since I last went there, but the climb on the Wall trail seemd to last forever, so just fancied a day of gravity assisted riding only! Call it decadence ;-)

Had thudbuster LT on my old Orange Evo 2. Loved it, so would highly recommend. Alas, some little toe-rag nicked the bike with post attached

Another vote for the Bugaboo Chameleon here. Daughter is 14 months and it has proved very valuable so far; pavements/tarmac, beach, local woods etc. We also bought a £70 Mamas & Papas stroller purely because of it's small size. It's just handy sometimes to have a small "grab 'n' go" buggy if we're dropping daughter off at in-laws etc.

I've used them before and think they work. There seems to be some un-informed rubbishing going on here. I've burnt these without them being in my ear and then unwrapped them. There is some residue, obviously from the candle. Then when unwrapped after being in the ear you will (on most occasions) find wax….hardly coincidence!
