It’s all an enormous ploy to pull heat away from that other former trek rider, Lance thingymajig

BasqueMTB near San Sebastián is worth a look up….

That’s where I’d go given the choice, San Sebastien is worth visiting in it’s own right so your wife should have interesting things to see and do with the little one.

How long before the top hit on google for Lord McAlpine brings readers here?

Singlespeeding is only for attentionwhores and 29ers are for people that can’t ride for shit.

Only half true in his case, entirely true in mine.

I have no problem forgiving people and their mistakes. I get slightly annoyed when they make a crust from having made those mistakes and getting a subsequently bigger following and press attention. Also if I were to engage in a sustained mispractice then no I don’t think I would expect to be forgiven for just going back and picking up my old job (albeit without engaging in the previous infringement)

Someone clean didn’t get a career because he did.

Mate is a former olympian and it;s this part that drives her absolutely potty, the sacrifices she made and that other sportspeople make are wiped out by someone cheating.

What would you have done in his shoes?

The everyone else was doing it why shouldn’t I? argument hasn’t held up since at least the second world war. I’m not saying I would have made better decisions but I would like to think I;d sink the doping ship and all aboard if I were to “help clean up the sport”

EDIT: What does Tygart have to say about Millar? Could be pretty enlightening.

    BigJohn, sounds um interesting

These last few posts have pretty much sold me on the idea 😉

for Millar to do that publicly would have meant the end of his career in cycling

Yup. That’s why that course of action is really taking a stand, changing the machine from the inside is what people tell themselves when they trot off to work for starbucks. Haven’t read his book yet and actually like him in interviews and doing commentary. That said he’s done damn well out of being supposedly poacher turned gamekeeper.

As for the fact he’s a nice guy, well I’d wager many of history’s villains were pleasant enough one to one.

Thinking about trying to get a few days in NY at the end and a mate suggested heading from Belize to Cancun to get a flight, anyone done that?

Originally thought about costa rica and nicaragua but think belize and guatemala prob hits the spot more. I’m after somewhere interesting, challenging but not constantly looking over my shoulder and can hit a beach to relax for a while too. prob asking for too much but would err towards relaxing/easier otherwise I’d like to go back to India.

    😯

The way the flights work we could poss go to New York for 4/5 days and then onto Costa Rica (or vice versa) which might help satisfy culture without having to head to Guatemala. Nosara, Monteverde, Arenal and Puerto Limon all look interesting, anyone any experience of them?

Cheers corroded, sounds like it may be similar to thailand and laos then. The comment about a city/cultural appeal is also helpful, cheers

Maybe holiday is the wrong word, been to Brazil before, India a couple times so more in line with those trips. Costa rica seemed a good balance and I’d rather spend time in one place that skip about tbh. Might add Nicaragua though.

Yeah I get the impression it would be less hard work than Brazil, Bolivia etc which would make it a different trip to those we’ve taken in the past.

Be more patient and understanding when i am tired.

I like this one, might modify it to just being more patient

    – Eat more fruit
    – Take more time off
    – Get out on mtb more

From the last couple years of making resolutions I’ve realised how goals oriented I am and that everything needs a target. Maybe I should address that next year 🙂

I started ordering from wiggle even if bit more because despite me specifying it in comments for order bit every time that I’d prefer an appropriate sized box it never happens.

That said if I had a bit more cash than that I’d just buy from an independent (but not the ones where I live)

That just makes me want one more! Sensible head on though and we won’t be getting a dog until we know what’s happening next year so I need to stop looking at dogs until at least March. Gutted.

Yeah even when our dog was an adult I remember being the first downstairs to do my paper round and discovering a great turd. The house rules were clear: you find it, you clean it.

Toilet training a pup when living in a flat is a ginormous pain in the ass.

Although fewer places to discover hidden gems first thing in the morning

Confirmed my fears. Also given that we’ll be in town for the forseeable future whether a vizsla needs reconsideration full stop. Although even if we were in Edinburgh we could access some good open spaces.
