How’s the knard? Did you have to pay any taxes etc ordering from singlespeed? I don’t see anywhere in the UK that have rabbit holes or knards in stock?

Ah that’s what I thought. Sorely tempted to buy stu’s jones but just can’t afford to, esp as need to build a new front wheel :'(

Are all the new truss forks set up for 135 hubs now? With the Rabbit hole I’d be happy with the older 100 version esp if I could fit a knard at the back too.

It’s entirely by whatever criteria you see fit, there are no right or wrong answers.

Except maybe stoke, I don’t think anyone thinks that’s the right answer.

Since moving to the a place where I can ride a different trail from the door every day of the weak I would struggle to relocate to the suburbs. I’ve barely visited a trail centre in 18 months and not missed them one jot.

    This sounds great!

mrmo I think for a lot of people driving has become part and parcel of mtb lifestyle, using trail centres but living in cities. Not to say that should be the criteria for this thread or indeed what many of us would really want but a reality for a lot. Riding from the door is great, bizarrely I did that when lived in Madrid and not as much when I lived in Glasgow!

Ah I see ben. In my defence that’s cities not places and posted ages ago….

i guess it depends if you want to anything else than ride your bike

That depends on you, like this reply

I’m going for the Peaks side of Manchester, almost as close as Sheffield, but 90min drive from the Lakes and a lot of Wales as well. And there’re enough jobs to make it viable for just about anyone, which would be my reason for not going to Sheffield (or a lot of Scotland). Scottish borders would be cool for biking, but rubbish for jobs, or being close to fmily/friends, I’d usualy put MTB in the ‘must not be crap’ list of criteria rather than a must have.

That makes a lot of sense to me rather than just there are ace trails near Peebles so live there. Obviously there’s no right or wrong answer I’m just interested in what people experiences have been and what they think.

Doesn’t a hex head need a spanner/socket? Not great for trailside repairs

Halfrauds and screwfix seem to do crank bolts or long allen key bolts but nothing this short? Unless I;ve missed something which is entirely possible. I’ll give them a shout

^ What he said. I think there were 4or 5 of us racing ss in the notts derby league and that regularly had more than 130 riders in the male category. I did think about organising a ss category for within the main race but never got round to it. Plus one of the guys was in the top 30/40 overall anyway!

i was riding in similar but i was so glad i couldn’t hear the sound of expensive components grinding into paste as i was on a SS, perfect tool for the winter

That’s what I was thinking? Slogged in mud today, fitness I had over Christmas wiped out by finals revision. That said I still enjoyed it 🙂

Have to say the knard interests me more than full fat, just seems bit more useable? That’s possibly my own misconception of fat though.

EDIT: Do they fit in niner forks? Seen a few threads but no definitive answer

Cheers Jameso, very kind offer and I may well take you up on that! Yeah I’ve been in touch with wish i were riding. I wish steel diamond came in polished or similar – black frame with ti truss looks weird and not entirely convinced by the blue or green frames.

Interesting you don’t feel weight is an issue given there’s prob a kilo between the frame set ups you have before even take into account running the steel geared.

EDIT: From wish i was riding on mtbr
