But surely half (or maybe just a part) of the fun is in the journey?

true mate but this thing looks like it will be a blast to ride and i can't wait 😀

referred pain, look up the sympathetic chain and pain referral for more info but its to do with nerves picking up signals from the heart and confusing them with the arm because they have the same common pathway, can happen with various things not just heart attacks.

i think its more like an eccentricker ebb than a 'proper' ebb hence needing a half link chain, could be wrong though

24/12 (24doce) in madrid had the xcracer team in attendance and shaggy and matt also competed ss. It'll be warm so might be worth getting out for a week before to get used to riding-tap eckinspain of this parish if you need some routes to do whilst there 😉

what he said, but id go up and spend a week having a look around lots of nice (and cheaper) places to live, for local riding mugdock is your friend

and for bike kit go to alpine

but back to the OP and using yr analogy then using a cx like a mtb is like say using a le mans car for a rally circuit then complaining it keeps grounding

really? a track car used off road? surely more like a non rally car on a rally course?

    😉

If you want to ride offroad use your dammed mountain bike – it's much better and more fun.

riding non tech (and even tech) trails off road is arguably more fun on a cross bike sometimes 😉

this stiffy everyone has for cross bikes being solely for racing is fun, we should extend this theory further-no flash full suss mtb xc jobs except for racing

did i mention my non hybrid non cross bike non mtb bike is a single speed?

cyclocross racing is racing, everything else is a road bike with knobblies

wear a skirt when riding cheeky trails

my gooch hurts enough thanks, the thought of riding for a few hours with nothing but rough wool between me and my undercarriage brings tears to the eyes

why would a non racing cross bike not be a cross bike then??

annnnnnnyway, they are guff brakes but they're guff in a good way*

*plus i havent spent any time setting them up, so its prob more to do with that 😉

yeah i could try all those but ill probably batter on, im sure the crap and grit on the rims didnt help much

Not quite the same as a decent set of Discs, but thats half the fun isn't it??

    exactly 😀

plus hopefully ill feel like a god when im on the mtb

yeah i was thinking today just chat in spanish but inevitably these things always backfire on me 🙁

tbh i dont know if it will even come up-2 walkers today stopped and held their dogs while i passed, big thankyous were shouted as i went past

How exactly can a pedestrian stop or catch a cyclist? Just ride away.

the problem is a) we've had a few lectures about being professional and accountable for our actions even if sitting in a pub etc
and most importantly b) ill end up getting lost and bump into them again

think ill feign innocence and lostness given my accent and the Movember man 'tache most folk tend to be shuffling away rather than towards me at the moment 😀

EDIT: i still need a cheeky sticker!

i think you need to get into a shop and have a look, i imagine clearance will be ok at the back but everyones different. quick test ride should tell if it fits you which is the most important thing imho.

and if it doesnt then a trek might fit better

owned a few now, 3 rigs a ferrous and soon (hopefully) a superfly

    whats the question?

EDIT: if its "are the frames the same for more than one model" then i think yes looking on the website, 6066 alu for paragon and a few others. If in doubt call a fisher/trek dealer. trek do the same but at the high end might only have a couple of bikes with posher alu frames

The Shimano one is tightened by hand and you have to guess the torque, the CK one, I believe, allows you to use a torque wrench.

i dont mean the wee plastic thing on the non drive side (which imho should only be tightened by hand hence being plastic) but to install the actual cups and tighten them up

    fontmoss
    Free Member

i know, i mean could the drive side be taken off and a horizontal one added-thereby cutting production costs for seperate ss and geared models and explaining the slidey non drive drop out

of course a pre production graphic may not be the best evidence of what itll actually look like when produced 😉

    fontmoss
    Free Member

i thought it might be so you could wang horizontal dropout on drive side and run it ss-where you would need the adjusting brake dropout
