GP's I have found are useless with backs.

to be fair though there isnt a lot they can do other than tell you to take painkillers and walk about, i know its pants but given the evidence base and that osteopaths etc aren't on the NHS then there aren't many options other in instances of long term back pain or medical emergencies.

EDIT: i should perhaps clarify what i mean re. osteopaths-as they are private then it can be difficult for a GP to recommend them on the basis that their advice would then lead to a patient paying money for treatment which in itself isn't always appropriate and also because the evidence base isnt there and furthermore because it may not work for everyone.

bonesetter im with TJ on this, its admittedly NHS driven because osteopaths et al aren't on the NHS and don't have cochrane report evidence as far as Im aware.

Different people have different experiences so if you find something that works for you then go for it

EDIT: for what its worth (zilch) im going to go to pilates class in a pre-emptive strike

i use a mix of potato, bread and garden gnomes to carbo load, cheese is a bit fatty for a real race diet

are you asking whether a ss bullit is overkill? certainly not, im pretty sure a full sus big bike came third at the ss worlds last year-the rider is insignificant.

painkillers and moving about, vast majority of back pain resolves after 6 weeks

have a look at GPnotebook if want more info.

if feel numbness in the saddle area and/or have issues with peeing and pooing, see a doctor/go to hospital immediately

EDIT: masssage, osteopath etc help some people but a GP might not recommend it until you suggest it

As at SSUK2009 "drink it or wear it my son"

    awesome!

marshalls could perhaps have a drink shortcut? and/or a shortcut for those at the back to steam through on the skinsuit* brigade completely unjustifiable?

*im still contemplating the kilt if my gooch can handle it, this is not, repeat not the same as a skinsuit. Its far worse.

    Perhaps I should clarify:

I am on the Nottingham med course and I live in Derby

This thread was resurrected by someone else but I appreciate the replies, ta muchly 🙂

And doing the Nottingham course isn't anymore of a ballache than other places really, def not as much as say London. We're in Derby for first 18 months then based in Nottingham for clinical work but as you mention Dunc placements means it doesn't always matter where you live.

If anyone Derby/Nottingham/around here based fancies a pedal let me know, end of my 'holidays' now but finish 1st year at end of June.

i went with m and s recently, fingers crossed i don;t need to claim but my worry would be that i have a mainstream brand but a pretty unique frame, hopefully i wouldnt get fobbed off 🙁

im also hopeful it'll cover my bike should it crack
