out of interest what’s the spacing on boardman, kinesis etc rear disc hubs/dropouts?

Newer shape just seems much tidier and poss more comfortable. Anyone know if 7800 levers are smaller than 6600? Prob not the thing to purchase when finances are low and not most important kit on the bike 😉

I need to get some conti gp4000s, looks like high on bikes is the cheapest place? Not sure 25 will fit the rear on my road bike but conti mtb tyres seem to come up narrow so might be worth a try?

Discs, esp for your remit. Cantis are fine imho in races but knocking about on ‘proper’ offroad trails, particularly in the wet discs will be better. Plus you don’t wear down the rim or get that horrendous grit on rim sound

I thought about it one for ages, didnt have cash or space. Got one relatively cheap a few years ago, loved it then bought a cross check loved it even more. Even done a couple races, very addictive

Got to say very few roadies won’t give a nod or a hello when I see them, this despite my breaking of many roadie laws such as hairy legs, mismatched kit, missing headbadge and riding slowly 🙂

    In Derby btw

    What’s a ‘Doctor’?

Is it the same as a Doctor?

    Is the seller Valentino Rossi?

Doctors are superior drivers, vastly more intelligent than the general population and clearly very trustworthy*.

*Apart from Shipman. And Andrew Wakefield. And Liam Fox. Ahem

    Pedros tyre levers

    They are very good

For me a decent gilet is an awesome bit of kit, don’t think I realised quite how much I used it until lost mine.

on the USB there is only 1 partition so does the USB drive as a default really

EDIT: ok tried with the old 1gb drive and it saw the files! (wouldnt play them as need an update via xbox live)

You’ve formatted it as a memory card for saved games rather than a regular USB drive, would be my guess. Format it as FAT32 on the Mac, and you should be golden.

I realised that too so I formatted on the mac. It didn’t work and led to the above situation of mangling files

It does stick some sort of file structure on the stick but that seems wrong.

Yeah last night used an old 1gb and seemed to leave about a third of the space, so I’m baffled why it wouldn’t leave masses on the 4gb?

I loved the trek ss 69er but have to say superfly ss is even better 😀

see i formatted it on the xbox originally but that left 2MB free space which seemed wrong?

(Formatted FAT when done on the mac)

deform the tyre by roughly the amount it deforms when you sit on the bike on flat ground.

I had thought that seemed a sensible amount, cheers everyone sufferfest agony awaits

make sure you’ve got at least 80psi in your trainer tyre. I’d also recomend a proper trainer tyre

Not sure why you’d have less than 80 psi…

my recent order has never appeared to be fair think it’s a prob this end with postie and they refunded the order so they’re doing well in my opinion (and no prev problems)

I’m sure they’d be fine? assuming no issues with surface offroad ie with mud and you’re not a heffamoose 😉

I’ve been using a 16 spoke front wheel with no problems. So far…

I was thinking about fightclub or revolver but might try the hunted. What’s the online backup?

surely good wheels are the single best upgrade esp on cross bikes? standard rims and road hubs but with more spokes ie 32 should be fine i would have thought

£2k will get you a decent car, but not if you are looking like everyone else at small economical (diesel) cars.

    What would you suggest then?

Why not get something big and deeply unfashionable (read: cheap) like a vectra or signum or something?

Big prob not great for gf to learn to drive in but unfashionable could be a winner, currently looking up skodas..

I started using a DE after reading about them on here, cheapo wilkinson from boots then got a merkur for christmas. Love it, the weight and heft is so satisfying plus makes shaving more interesting (for me) so tend to do it more often. I’m sure I’ll get more and more drawn in, don’t have a brush and lather for example. Yet.

Combination of public transport and scabbing lifts but it changes depending on placements. Can be as far as 65 miles or as close as 20min walk. Still to get allocation for May to Feb but as I’ve had most of mine up to this point close by then usually they punt you out to the sticks afterwards.

EDIT: I’m sure some people will say to cycle but it’s just not practical. Aside from carrying books I also need to take a full change of clothes and shoes, plus there aren’t secure areas to lock a bike or showers generally. Some sites it will be an option but those are generally (and annoyingly) the places I wouldn’t drive to anyway.

    3k 🙁
Then need to find money to insure the damned thing. Then fill it with diesel. Bloody hell.

i’m going to stick with diesel, even the short commute is 30 miles each way and can’t see how a petrol is going to be as or more economical.
