So is he a Doctor treating people or an non-medical academic?

Both, he’s a clinical psychologist so has a doctorate and works with patients in hospital and outpatient settings

I probably don’t. I’m thinking about everyone else who would see him wearing it and wonder what on earth he’s trying to prove.

He’s trying to prove he’s the best person in the world obviously

I think you have it slightly wrong, surely you are looking for a ‘not a proper doctor’ t-shirt?

No I”m pretty sure he is a proper doctor, it’s medics that have a shortcut route to the title 😉

i didn’t realise you knew him?

This is a present for a mate, he is a proper dr (as in non honorary medic) and when he has to tell people (generally patients ask him) he’s a dr they assume he’s a medical dr. BUT (and here’s why it would be funny) HE”S NOT THAT SORT OF DR

Ok? Everyone pop down off the high horses now please

I read it as a combination of being frustrated at having missed a race and disappointed/worried about people blaming others when they are jeopardising their safety by their own actions. i could be wrong.

There are loads, most are either in the states and/or £20…

I’m neither (yet) but mate is a clinical psychologist

Info from Royal college. Best thing to do is chat with your CPN or care co-ordinator about any questions, some worrying inaccuracies above but also some inspiring stories. No easy answers regarding treatment, treatment for anything carries side effects and bipolar is as far as i know is long term management and for some people that can be lifelong. However, take heart from some of the above – there is help available and people can lead normal lives.*

This is all my humble and often ill informed opinion btw 😉

isn’t that the point? by varying where start and ends of rides are it is difficult to ascertain where you actually live?

As said above I have logged a few postcodes within a cluster of my own so there is a decent range of addresses even if someone narrows it down.

Lots of roadies out near us yesterday and great to see. Including long chains of club cyclists. On the whole cyclists and motorists behaved very well and with due consideration.several times, I came behind two abreast cyclists and slowed to wait for opportunity to pass. They then moved into single file and I went past at the corre t time giving them ample space. As others have said, basic common sense from everyone involved. Of course there were also examples of equally militant cyclists and motorists both blinkered, both inconsiderate and both dangerous.

Can we leave this as the last word and close the thread?!

I ended up getting a turbo as thought if using them when too tired to go for a ride or gubbed towards end of session i’ll end up losing concentration and come flying off rollers.

have a look at tritalk forum to track down an open water venue or google local tri clubs. Well worth trying wetsuits before buying/committing to one. Def DEF worth a session or more at open water, pretty different to the pool.

Had first open water swim of season this morning, so so cold!

MrK, patch testing is still used in Dermatology but it sounds like an ENT referral might be more useful?

EDIT: desensitisation injections for allergic rhinitis have stopped due to anaphylaxis though

fair enough, what’s the antihistamine for?

You’re right any chronic condition will necessitate repeat visits and probably never be cured but I also think there are different ways to approach it. I think a physio is a good approach for identifying the underlying issues and resolving/alleviating those (i had similar prob as trail rat) whereas i see chiropractor as alleviating symptoms without tackling the underlying issue.

I guess you could argue both have similar outcomes but I’d prefer the physio as I can take exercises etc away with me and work on the problem. Seems more rehabilitative in my mind but it’s only my opinion at the end of the day. If you prefer the chiropractor then go for it.

Do you pay to see your GP though?

Found out today there’s a segment on the road almost past my house but because I’ve set the privacy settings to hide the area round me, it won’t show up. This is annoying cos a mate is in 2nd and I know I can beat him!

Same here but if you ride away from your house then back towards the segment and head off again it’ll pick it up. It’s just the start and end of rides it hides

i’m not sure the people paid to protect him would let him ride about with a gps which allows people to view where he was a few hours previous…

if could find a sponsor (brewer? surly?) then might be able to speak to some of the organisers about adding an ss category? If you could organise prizes they might be more inclined to add it as it would, in theory at least, give them another way to sell the event. Maybe.

I think a lot of ss riders would be interested in a separate category in big events tbh.

just remembered my mates car is similar engine size and been on road trips fully laden in that, perhaps this is all snobbery on my part. It’s a good car for the cash and a decent 1.4 will either be high mileage/much older/much more money.

my stepdad is looking for us and turned this up, if it were a 1.4 i’d have it in a heartbeat and my fears might be unjustified. He’s going to have a drive tomorrow and i trust his judgement

i should clarify i mean ‘underpowered’ in a pretty loose sense and in relation to the fact it’s a 1.2 – i mean relative to other 1.2s, it’s a 3 door which helps. The real selling point is that it’s pretty economical and about as good an example as you’ll find i think.

it’s first car we’ll own, I’m comparing it to 1.4-1.6 hatchbacks driven when at home and using folks cars. As long as it didn’t feel like it would be quicker cycling it’ll prob be fine. 65bhp version which is meant to be noticeably better than 55bhp but has proper well known history, is economical and great example of 1.2 polo generally. Just the engine that makes me think twice

How does tubeless compare pricewise with tubulars? if not huge differences seems a better way to go given the choices available?

Like my dad said ‘treat every road user like they’re idiots’

Yup, make eye contact with drivers at every roundabout, check wingmirrors if forced to ride close to parked cars. There seem to be only 2 ways to pass a cyclist, margins are either millimetres or metres 🙁

ordered some of the endura 3 pack and tbh i think i’ll send them back and get one decent pair of giro (never used) or sock guy which used a few times and been really nice fit.
